(first of all I have to say I live in Youngstown and I was at the show and it was the best night of laughs I've had in a while) but I didn't really know about Nate quitting alcohol and just wanted to say congrats on all the success. In the last 18 months I got married, had a deadly alcohol withdrawal seizure, recovered, stayed sober, got promoted to kitchen manager at my job, bought a house with my wife, and lost around 80 lbs. Dusty and Nate, you two are inspirational. Keep it up. Love the positivity

Being a Preacher, I really enjoyed this episode. This episode reminds me of a time I was in Bible college on the day of orientation the teacher went around the class and asked us what our favorite book of the Bible was. One student claimed that the book of “thessalations” was his favorite. The teacher corrected the student saying “don’t you mean Thessalonians?” The student disagreed and continued to challenge and the teacher responded, “well, I don’t think we will ever be getting to that book” That student was expelled a month later😂 Love the podcast guys!

Love the topic and Dusty’s Passover tradition. Looking at what’s happening at the holy sites this week in the Middle East I feel grateful to live in a country where we can freely and safely practice and discuss our traditions. Whether it’s Sunday mass, fasting for Ramadan, or breaking that unleavened bread with family it’s a unique privilege we have that I hope I can always say we have in this country.

I have a college degree in advanced Biblical and Theological Studies AND a Master’s degree in the subject, so needless to say I was pretty excited when I saw the topic this week! I shouldn’t be surprised that it fell flat pretty quick, and my favorite moment from the episode had nothing to do with the Bible. Gotta give Bates a shoutout for that Rocket Money ad transition. He was halfway into the ad before I realized what happened. It’s the first time I haven’t physically cringed at an ad transition, and I couldn’t be more proud of him. One episode late but had to share my senior prank. My extended friend group decided to take all of the lightbulbs out of the school Sunday night before the last week of finals. We had teacher's kids as well as an athletic manager in the friend group, so we had access to everything. We spent a couple hours one evening practicing taking the bulbs out so we could be efficient. We hid the bulbs all over the school and even bought some extras in case any broke. It went off brilliantly. When I showed up to school the next morning, half a dozen county maintenance trucks were there to install new bulbs. The school was totally dark for most of the day. Administration was pretty upset by it but eventually had to admit that they thought it was pretty clever.

I was JUST frantically typing about how most plastics are not able to be recycled, but Brian beat me to it, expanding on that tho: cardboard with shiny print (cereal boxes and the like) are also thrown in landfills. On the subject of thinking you're doing the right thing by trying to recycle but doing it wrong - my town doesn't pick up recycling, they have collection dumpsters around town, and it's mixed recycling so you don't have to separate your glass, plastic, and cardboard. For years I'd rather recycling and throw the bag in the mixed recycling dumpster and feel good that I was doing my part. Then one day I was there while the truck was emptying the dumpster and the worker said "You know if it's in a bag, we think it's trash and we just send it to the landfill." Super frustrating after sending hundreds and hundreds of bags full of recycling to the landfill over the years.

Somehow there wasn’t a decision to evacuate for the rest of service, but I guess we all turned out fine.

Not to get too serious on this fun podcast but I have done extensive research on Biblical archaeological artifacts. To answer Nate's question about why people wouldn't want to go see if the ark is real is because then people would have to acknowledge that the Book of Genesis is historically accurate. And if it's accurate (which it is) then people couldn't deny that God exists, the world wide flood was real, and the earth was created in 6 days, vs millions of years of evolution. Not only is this site in turkey very possible, there are other archaeological findings at this site that says that this is the ark. A few archaeologists have gone to the site and concluded that this is the ark, yet mainstream science doesn't showcase them because they are bible believing Christians. Dusty, I'm with you on the Passover celebration. 👍

I got in a prank war with some friends at summer camp. On a long hike on a hot Oklahoma summer, I hid giant cans of pork and beans along the trail and when they came by my friend and I dumped the cans on their heads. They then had to walk all the way back to the cabin passing all the other cabins and hundreds of people covered in pork and beans. They got me back when I was walking back to the cabin one day and from the balcony of a cabin they dumped water on me and I thought that wasn’t so bad, until I walked past the next cabin and they dumped a huge bag of flour on me. I was then caked and crusty and the sponsors wouldn’t let me back in the dorm since I was so dirty. I had to go find the rec staff and convince them to let me use the hose to clean off. I hung my prank hat after that day.

Most communities see a rate of 20-25% of non-recyclable items placed in bins. Those items are are things like used pizza boxes or other trash items and end up in the landfill. A 70% success rate is nothing to frown about. If you consider that recycling metal has 87% lower emissions than mining new metal, those small acts that you do really can make a difference if enough people participate. 10-15 years ago our recycling system wasn't very good, but it has improved pretty drastically. PR, however, has not kept up so a lot of people think we aren't actually recycling most things. We are.

I don’t believe so. Most plastic is not actually being recycled.

If they make everyone by reusable bags, when you have groceries delivered, you can return your older reusable bags. Kind of like a bottle deposit. You pay $.10 for each bag and when you return them you get your deposit back.

They're actually talking about sending bodies to space after someone does. They've already opened up the sign-ups, I believe. They are looking for all types of people and say that the cost/emissions of sending a body to space will be cancelled out by removing all of the burials...I just think, you wouldn't decompose so if you're in the Space Station, is someone just going to float by?
