My husband used to be the president of our HOA. We had a problem with starlings in our new build neighborhood. Nightly they would flock by the thousands back to their old hood, now our new hood. People were traumatized because the birds were pooping everywhere and to get from the curb into the house was a frantic bolt to safety. Neighbors called our home demanding that my 30 year old computer scientist husband rid the area of these birds. It was a crazy time. The city finally sent air cannons and every evening they'd blast air/noise and eventually the problem went elsewhere.

One of my favorite episodes so far. Just a theory on why the guest bird "expert", Joe Zimmerman, got up in the middle of the episode to take a break: Hard hitting questions like: Bates: When I see a bird flying south, what kind of bird is that? and then Aaron- like a bird on a telephone pole, is that a starling? And then Nate and Aaron giving well thought out theory's on how 2 billion birds died in the late 1800's like (a billion flew into a plane-Nate, and maybe wind turbines or alternative energy-Aaron). This is all while Dusty is mumbling about pigeon burgers! Classic Nateland.
