Thank you for the excellent content. Wish there was more of this online. I'm trying to train my own dog, I've been able to do scent work, obedience and the basic concepts of bite work (biting and out) but the more advanced stuff like fixing a dogs bite (such as typewriter biting) has no content online at all. I know I can train him myself so I refuse to pay thousands for someone to just tell me. Anyways, I downloaded the K9 series books and those are helpful but wish I could get more help online.

My pleasure. I would suggest checking out The Ultimate Decoy Playbook: From Basics to the Podium by Bob Solimini. I haven’t personally purchased this course yet, but I plan to once I have some extra time. Bob Solimini is considered one of the best decoys as well as one of the best trainers of decoys. You can check it out here: sitstaylearn.com/collections/instructional-videos/products/the-ultimate-decoy-playbook-from-basics-to-the-podium-by-bob-solimini?variant=48591367373089

Hello! Fantastic video! Although have a question about re-bite and regrip. Is it only for training purposes and only for small puppies? I heard an opinion that regrip is not allowed doing sports by dogs.
@NateSchoemer3 жыл бұрын
Thanks! It helps teach the dog to get a full bite and not a shallow bite. We also only have the dog re-bite when giving the correct physical cue. During testing in most protection sports, a re-bite will cause the dog to lose points. However, if the dog is chewing on the bite sleeve or decoy, they will lose more points than just the re-bite, so preventing chewing is very important.

where to best buy the gear in Europe to avoid customs fees?
@NateSchoemer4 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure, but you should be able to find everything out there, since many protection sports started in Europe. :)
@ChristofferEricsater4 жыл бұрын
Nate Schoemer yes, but I was more thinking of brands that you trust vs brands you directly suggest us to avoid due to security of if the quality will protect our arms if one use a sleeve for example so the bite does not go straight through 😂... I am sure the dog would find that funny 😈🤣😜

Question for you, Nate. Basically, what I am observing is drive, striking, and grip development. While I understand that these puppies will go on to do French Ring, do you see much difference in developing puppies for the various protection sports? I would think that this training would benefit puppies at this age regardless of their sport.
@NateSchoemer3 жыл бұрын
Yes. Most protection sport trainers, train similar to this. Each on making slight adjustments for their respective sports. :)

Great video! Is it ok for the me as the main trainer of our puppy to carry out the work that Bethany is doing or would I need to be the handler and have someone else holding sleeves etc?
@NateSchoemer4 жыл бұрын
You can place your puppy on a back-tie and do the same training Bethany is doing. You can also have someone hold the leash for you while you work the puppy. Lastly, you can have someone else work your pup while you hold the leash. Some would disagree with me, but I think all options are fine. :)

4 year old german shepherd , 10 week old belgian malinois (future mates) get along very well . is it okay to let them play together all day if the belgian is going to be trained for protection work ?

I'm sure there are different schools of thought on the issue, but I've never seen it to be a problem. I like to have all of my dogs well socialized.

Greetings to you Nate, I really like your videos, they are very informative and I cant wait to use them to teach my dog someday... but I got one question. When starting the FR training. Is it required for the puppy to learn basic obedience command before the FR training. Or you can also teach them FR while also teaching them the basic obedience commands? Thanks. Love from the Philippines🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭
@NateSchoemer4 жыл бұрын
Thanks! You can start teaching them FR while teaching obedience. :) I would suggest finding a good protection club to train with.
@yssyllvanvugtmatalubos66854 жыл бұрын
@@NateSchoemer thanks for the reply, unfortunately there isnt a protection club near in my area, and because of the pandemic, traveling to another province is hard. So thats why your videos are really helpful right now. It gives hope that I can still train my dog even without a club. And thanks for that. Please add more training videos. It really helps alot. GOD BLESS
