Sorry nat geo, not agreeing with this. Firstly, there is a difference between witch and wiccan and the terms should not be seen as synonims. Wicca is a religion, witchcraft is a practice, a lifestyle. You can be wiccan without practicing witchcraft and you can be a witch without obeying the wiccan belief. Secondly, we are not always dressed in black, don't all gather in woods in the middle of the night.. we are a lot less scary and less of a cult than how nat geo makes us seem here. There are levels to it.

Basically, social media and modern new age booksellers sell the idea that witchcraft is whatever you want it to be, to the point the word is almost meaningless. Witches of the 19th and 20th centuries would not consider the majority of modern "witches" to have anything in common with them, or witchcraft as they understood it. Although Wiccan and witch are not exactly the same, the same still goes for wicca.

Do note this however; no Wiccan claims to know the true nature of the divine if they are indeed Wiccans. However you are correct- we do have power inside of us. Through worship we can gain certain aspects- not necessarily worshiping gods but giving offerings to spirits to have them help us in whatever way it may be. (This is my understanding- I am new to Wicca.

My dad was a Gardnerian Pagan, as an American is is difficult to learn traditional Wicca so we learn from outside sources such as the internet and such. I personal buy books from English publishers or established and respected Wiccans High Priests and Priestesses to learn my way. I am in no way the most knowledgable of people when it comes to my faith but we have to establish a base somewhere and somehow. But I agree this is very much a Wiccan video.

I watched a documentary yesterday evening on Wicca in England. It is apparently, the fastest growing religion in Britain. It was the only religion England exported to the rest of the world. For me personally, both magick, auras, spirits and all other things in the Wiccan faith are not above science- however with how they are now at best they are psudo-sciences. They are very difficult to test to say the least but I have my own experiences that validate them to me. I would indeed love to see science to help bring evidence to the Wiccan faith- however that is out of reach for now but not forever. Most Wiccans do not disregard the scientific method, by the way. The majority actually love to understand science and how things are on a fundamental level. Science is nature. Wiccan is fundamentally all about nature and the love of it.

Free from the organization of religions, free from having people lower and higher up than myself. I do celebrate "their" "holy" days. This video seems to be 100% filled with the crap I hate about religion in the first place. My Wicca is not pagan at all. My Wicca really has no differences with the ways of the Native Americans except the pentacle I choose to wear symbolizing the 4 elements w/ spirit or soul. (The star having 5 points...) LE _ Hey I tried to contact you in private but I didn't find a way. I just wanted to say that when I was your age I was also about to join a certain religion that I'm not going to name on the Internet. Spiritually, I grew a lot through this experience but in a very painful and unpleasant way. I think it's great that you show interest in religion and it shows that you're a very smart young woman. I think you partially realise this yourself but you're in a very vulnerable age where your critical thinking is not as developed as it will be in 5, or even 2 years. I'm not criticising wiccan religion (from an idealistic perspective!) in any way, I'm just saying that you have to be very careful in these type of things and take it as slow as possible. I'd say give yourself at least 3 years to get to know the religion and yourself before making any big decisions. I hope I didn't come off as tol patronising, I just don't want to watch someone go through the same things that I did.

@CoCo Crusher Actually, Wicca *is* a religion. With variant sects called "Traditions", some are based in polytheism, some in pantheism and soft animism, or a blend of all of those. There are specific practices and set of principles of beliefs, like the Wiccan Rede, and the Three Fold Law, and other principles.

The representation is very watered down and still casts a shadow on what it is really about! 1) Wicca is not the same as the Pagan faith! I simple way to understand is that Wicca is more built around it. 2) Was there really a reason to add that background music? 3) We don't take the power from the gods and goddesses, we already have that power, and use it WITH them (that is an opinion). 4) Wicca and Witchcraft are two separate things. Wicca includes the things that witchcraft has and you have the option to practice it as a faith, however, witchcraft is not a religion! It is just the practice on its own. It's a very healthy alternative if you love the practice but do not believe in the deities. 5) Normally you will not go into the woods and find twelve hooded men and women cloaked in black humming a song to a burning cauldron, I mean, that is something people do...but it is not the most common thing to see. 6) When the lady was making the spell, they should have explained what she was doing with her hand movements and not say anything leaving others to wonder if that was some dark magic. 7) NEVER EXPLAINED TO YOUNG WITCHES THAT YOU DO NOT HAVE TO JOIN A COVEN!!! Of course, these are all my opinions, and every witch is unique.

I know that the Bible is the only book you've ever read and that you think it answers all of life's questions but you have to realize that: A lot a Wiccans use to be Christian and own Bibles. I personally hated going to church and after reading the Bible I found it to be a vile and asinine book. When I discovered Wicca and a local community center for Wiccans, I felt like this is where I belong.

Im a 3rd degree wiccian turned pagan. Ive been in the occult for 53 years since 11. One of the things I've learned is we are all Goddess and God. There is nothing outside of us its all within. Our thoughts create emotions and emotions are our guidance system for emotions draw everything to us. We live in an attraction based universe and there is no such thing as no. Law of attraction is the only law and it works evrn if you dont think it does. Good evil darl light are all the same energy. Its your beliefs that create your life thought by thought. Every thing we want comes from our alignment with ourselves. Took me a long time yo understand this. The greatest most important thing is to put your self first and listen to your inner gut which is the greater part of you guiding you around all the resistance you set up. Life is beautiful its all about being not doing. We are all one separating in this physical focus. We are all eternal and all we ever have is NOW. NOW is your point of power. Be true to self and you will go far beyond the masses who choose different paths. We can be do or have anything we want. There is no lack but some may create the illusion of lack by their BELIEF IN IT. EVERYTHING IS ABOUT OUR PERCEPTION. BLESSED BE
