There are chemicals in the leaves called tanins. They turn the water murky brown like dark tea as they decompose in the water.

Jesus wept, the size of that camera on that poor gator. Honestly, in this day and age of teeny tiny cameras the researchers couldn't come up with something less intrusive (less like a bloody 18 wheeler)?

caring about animals is to leave them alone. We bother them just because we are curious about them, like oh we put a sensor in the shark it doesn't hurt the shark? like they don;t have feeling of discomfort its sickening to be that arrogant.

I somewhat agree. But I think the size might have something to do etching to do with durability and practicality. It would be hard to fasten a proper small camera on the back or neck of an alligator. The purpose to actually have a good angle on what is recorded and it has to be practical enough to actually strap onto the alligator. I’m sure the actual camera was quite small within that big block

I don't think that alligators vocalize underwater. They can open their mouths underwater because they have a flap in their throat that prevents water entering their trachea or esophagus. I'd guess that the open-mouthed gators shown were either getting ready to bite prey animals or biting at the people and equipment near them.

I was truly impressed and utterly fastinated by the footage from Natgeo. The opening scenes were so immersive that I felt as if I felt as if I was about to be bitten by a crocodile, even though I was just watching on the TV Screen!
