Without offending any Nathan Chen lovers, Nathan Chen has become a headache not only for Yuzuru Hanyu but also for all the skaters that can't jump the impossible 4quads. He has taken definetly the sport to another level, and it will be necessary another Nathan to beat him., and it looks like that this will take a while. Nathan Chen best consistent skater ever, probably the winner of the gold at the 2020 olympic games. But how about his long transitions? Wouln't be nicet if he can achieve perfect transitions? If he could achieve this, Nathan Chen will achieve really perfection.
@divinearia16013 жыл бұрын
I'm sure Nathan has to sacrifice some of these transitions in order to do these quads effectively. They're difficult enough to do by themselves without the difficult entries. It's all about striking a proper balance, that's all. Yuzuru might want to try that. Might help his quads out since he's pretty shaky with them. Nathan would like to come as close to being perfect as possible but he knows that being perfect isn't possible, and he accepts that.
@y.h.b.43793 жыл бұрын
@@divinearia1601 Cannot agree more! If somebody's quad jump is not as stable as Nathan's, then he should try taking longer transition time and make the jump stable first. If the skater chooses to rush, then there is a consequence. Raf obviously takes Nathan's health and safety as a high priority so we don't see Nathan gets injuries as much as some other skaters.

This video shows they don't know figure skating. There have been plenty of skaters before Nathan that have combined athleticism and artistry.
@divinearia16013 жыл бұрын
Know what? You're taking this way too literal. All skaters have athleticism combined with artistry, absolutely, but I'm pretty sure they're referring to the fact that Nathan is known as the Quad King for his amazing and consistent quad jumps. That's the form of athleticism that he has brought to artistry, and he is so good at it that it's currently being viewed as something kind of unique to him.
@mariabe15683 жыл бұрын
@@divinearia1601 Quads are not unique to Nathan though. Of course he dererves his title quad king but at the same time, imo, they could said it better.
@divinearia16013 жыл бұрын
@@mariabe1568..quads are not unique to Nathan...but his consistency and ability in being able to do them so well is, indeed, unique. Notice too that he can do 5-6 quads in a program and not be gasping for breath at the end of his performance like so many other skaters. His stamina is amazing. He has enough strength to still do clean, powerful quad jumps at the end of his programs. The phrase "athleticism" is actually a very accurate description of him. It's similar to how the term "artistry" is connected with Yuzuru. Neither have any true weaknesses but their strengths are very different. One is more known as an artist with his fancy/dramatic performances while the other is more known as an athlete for his mastery in the technical aspect of the sport.

Every time Nathan is given credit for something, Yuzuru fans always claim Yuzuru does it better. Sorry, but who is the quad king here? Who is known for his athleticism? It's not Yuzuru. Yuzuru was the best before 2018, Nathan has replaced Yuzuru as the best figure skater ever since. You just have to compare Yuzuru’s performances between 2018 and 2022, he certainly has regressed to a less quality skater both athletically and artistically..
@Jude742 жыл бұрын
His skating is nowhere near the level it was prior to 2018. Injury after injury has taken a toll and frankly at the two minute mark of all his longs he turns into a ragdoll and is nowhere near as good as the other Japanese men on his team much less Nathan.
