Nathan Fillion (Castle, The Rookie) returns to the show this week to reflect back on tenured success across multiple serieses like Castle and The Rookie, along with cult adoration in Firefly and Serenity, leading us to discuss what’s next and what the escape plan is once his run in Hollywood is done.
Nathan shares his secret for positivity in life and his freedom of being in a position to say no rather than taking roles out of need.
We also talk about how adversity brings out one’s true colors, rumors of Firefly reboots, and his experience swimming with sharks.

@LethalLuggage I enjoy the hell out of the Rookie. I like it more than other police procedural crime drama television series. It doesn't take itself too seriously. And although it covers the investigative procedure it focuses much more on its characters than other police shows, which I really like. And you start at the ground level, at the beginning as rookies (well 3 of the main characters) rather than have them all be detectives or higher ranks. I usually find police shows boring and shallow, to be honest, or at least no such show really stuck with me until the Rookie.

Dad found out later as he was getting ready to explain an "awkward" moment to me lol. Castle was something I would watch with my dad. I got started late on the series and only started watching after finding out Nathan was the lead. Since I got started late purchases the seasons and we would watch at least one episode every week. Didn't get to season 8 though, and was getting married before it became available to buy the dvd/Blu-ray. Some of it I am sure is denial on my part that the series ended.

Terrific, terrific interview. These never disappoint. You have found an amazing groove with this show, Michael. Look forward to catching more and more. Would have loved if you mentioned Wonder Man getting a go ahead at D+, just to see how Nathan would have reacted.

I found your Podcast yesterday, purely by chance. I'm so glad this happy accident happened. I have been dying to write a comment. After watching more than a few interviews, I can tell you for certain, that it's you!!! that im watching, not the person you're interviewing. It took me about 15 seconds before I recognized you. I was surprised, but delighted. I thought, " This is gonna be good", and you did not disappoint. You have a personality that makes people want to speak to you. You put your guests at ease, but that's not your greatest asset. Your greatest asset by far is that, your audience feels at ease. I could seriously go on, but I won't. I think you probably heard my comments 1000 times over. What I truly want to relay is that, you're gifted!!!stick with it!! Pretty Please.

Every time I see Nathan I shake my head at why the studio did not go with him for Drake.....and perhaps Bruce Campbell as Sully :-)

Two of my all-time favourite men. Great interview. Love seeing Nathan in interview. I lived in Edmonton for thirty-two years - I can commiserate about the weather. Michael, such a great place to find you and your sultry voice. Yes to Firefly. One of my favourite sci-fi series. Keep up the great work!

it's a tragedy they didn't do Nathan Drake aka Uncharted with Nathan Fillion. One of the bigger crimes in Hollywood. We only got that fan-made 10 minute thing which obviously was sublime. total immersion I love seeing him in The Rookie

I hadn't realized that you had a podcast. Michael, your portrayal of Lex Luthor is perhaps my favorite, if second only to the great Gene Hackman. Although I feel that the characters were written so differently between the movies and the show, that they can be enjoyed very differently. I'm so glad I found this episode in particular to view as my first. Nathan Fillion is one of my favorite actors to watch. I have been following him since he was on Two Guys, A Girl, and a Pizza Place.

The interview is the exact reason why I enjoy Nathan's work. As much as a fan can have an impression of the true character of a person, Nathan and I are not friends, we will never be friends, I will probably never get a chance to meet or see him while not on camera or stage. As such, my gut reaction is either Nathan is best actor on the planet or this is who he is. He appears to be a kind, joyful, and importantly aware of the great gift being actor can be. I am not disregarding the effort, skill, and fortitude it takes to become an actor. But, Nathan understands he has probably the best job on the planet. He gets to play make believe and entertain people.
