Mackinnon has the ability to flip a switch and go crazy psychopath and take over a game. We saw that at the end of the 2nd of the Penguins game when he got hooked with no call. He channeled that into an unbelievable 3rd period. That’s what McDavid and Matthews don’t have…yet

MacKinnon makes every single player around him better - every time the Avs pick up a player from another team, Mack makes them better. He's an angry player in a sense that if he wants to win, he will win. He's the best all-around player in the league.

Matthews is great at defense, is probably a better pure goalscorer, has a better shot, and is a bit better on some of the little defensive things than MacKinnon. But he doesn't lift everyone around him as much. He's not as elite of a playmaker, that's why he needs to be paired with Marner to really shine. He's not a better skater, he's not as physically overpowering, and he doesn't have the mentality to will his entire team to success. He deserves to be in the conversation, but not at the absolute top

McDavid is no 1. Stop it. This video is click bait. No more no less. Kuch leads Mac in every respect over the last 5 years. Ross, MVP, two cups, Lindsey, led the playoffs in scoring with over 30 plus points two years in a row. Only other players to do so is named Wayne and Mario. One overlooked stat is Macs playing time. He plays a min a game more than Kuch and McDavid. That might not seem like alot but over a 80 game schedule that is 80mins or 4 total games more than Kuch or McDavid. How many more points would they have? Over the last 5 years played Kuch is second in ppg at 1.48. Mac is at 1.42ppg. Fairly even. They are equals in my opinion right now. The stats support this. Even this year. McDavid is on another tier. His 1.64 ppg is considerable over Kuch and Mac. This video isnt based on facts or numbers at all. ESPN should do better.

Kuch and McDavid not only can score but their hockey iq makes the players around them better. Kuch is one of 7 players in NHL history to have three 80 plus assist seasons. McDavid has 2. But McDavid will have a 100 assist season. Mac will have one, this year. Until Mac has more than one 80 assist season he would be considered a one trick pony.
