MacKinnon ran away with the Hart Trophy as the league MVP and won the Ted Lindsay Award, the award given to the most outstanding player as voted on by the players.
It's a long overdue award for MacKinnon and the writers finally righted a wrong in giving him his first Hart.

Well deserved for Mack, what I love about Mack is his work ethic and I think he’s a great role model for the youngsters of putting in hard work day in day out. He leaves everything on the ice. On the32 thoughts podcast he mentioned how he knows a hockey career is a short one and he’s giving everything he’s got while he can, doesn’t take anything for granted.

I absolutely cannot stand when people talk about McDavid and say things like "oh hes far and away the best player, its not even close". Thats insulting to Mack first and foremost but also Makar, Matthews, Kucherov etc. Im so glad Mack finally got the Hart, so well deserved and im glad i was wrong before this year saying theyd never give it to him

Guys remember when....😂 Mvp! My fav athlete! Always thought he was the best! He had more defensive responsibility as a C and wouldve won the Art Ross if you take away all empty net points, which kucherry pickerov set a record for emott net points this year. And just look at the domination in nhl edge stats like miles skated, speed bursts... Mack is so electric, hardworking and it motivates teammates to get healthier, faster, stronger, better... if kucherov had more than 50 points more than his next best teammate, it's likely that mack wouldve inspired those guys to work harder and produce more. In other words you cant just compare a menial stat like that and make it what wins you the hart. The players agree too if that says anything! Im from syracuse where there is the syracuse crunch lightning farm team, so it has been annoying to see lightning fans cry when both the media and players agreed mack is the better player this year.

It is a collection of players, and certain media insiders, not all of them. Mackinnon factored in on less of his teams scoring %. Kuch would lead his team in points without a single goal, unlike Mack. Kucherov had more takeaways too. There is reason Kuch has averaged a higher PPG through their careers. This was an entitlement trophy for Mack. He knows it.

Good for Mack! Some lightning fans arent happy but when Mackinnon also won the ted lindsey, well they're pretty much disagreeing with the entire league now so...deal with it. Plus good for hughes but, and this is no shade to Helle but...i had this mental image of mack and makar sitting next to each other laughing amongst themselves because of how the jets avs series went. Like i know those two have more class then me but I found that thought very entertaining. Mildly toxic on my end though.
