I've been watching your vids for a couple of years now. I'm a 44 year old musician that started learning card magic to keep my fingers limber but I've been sucked in so much harder than that. I own books, DVDs, around 60 decks... you understand..... anyway, you'll never know for real, but you've been a huge part of my journey and I really can not thank you enough. THANK YOU!

Frequently asked question: what if the card named is more/less than 13 letters? Answer: Use the classic pass to move cards around. If less than 13 letters, pass as many cards as you need from the top to the bottom. If more than 13, pass as many cards as you need from the bottom to the top. Hope this helps!
@mohammedraiyan92544 жыл бұрын
A Million Card Tricks are there any alternatives other than a pass that we could use?
@AMillionCardTricks4 жыл бұрын
I would say the Hermann pass is another alternative (way easier than the classic pass). But unfortunately I think those might be the only way to move cards around without the spectator seeing. I have a full tutorial for both classic and hermann passes on my channel!

Love this trick! I was thinking of a way to make this one fully cleaned up, just in case we were to come across a spectator who is very observant. Granted, your method of using the black 8's and 9's will work 99.9% of the time. Let's say they realize that the card you used to turnover the secret selection was not the same suit. Maybe you were kind of slow on the turnover and they saw the 8 of clubs. I feel that a simple and quick way to cover it up is to perform yet another top change to finish off the trick while the spectators' focus in on the revealed secret selection. The magician already has the 8 of spades on top of the deck. So, it is as simple as top changing the 8 of clubs, used for the turnover sleight, with the 8 of spades on top of the deck. Now you are fully clean in case they ask to see the top card of the deck. Just some food for thought. I feel it is always best to leave things as clean as possible. Thank you, Nathan, for sharing all of your hard work with us. You have the best magic channel on youtube, imo. Clear, concise, and well thought out tutorials. Especially with the sleight of hand stuff, including the video angles and explanations. You make it so easy for us! Thank you and I always look forward to your videos. Wishing everyone health and happiness in these crazy times.

I liked this one a great deal! It got me to thinking if there was a way to accomplish this with a bit less work. The first thing I noticed was that if one uses the Mexican Turnover handling from _Expert at the Card Table_, or "Senator" Crandal's variation, the switched-out card is not seen. Think about it. Now you can take out ANY card at the start, and use a freely-selected card. Once in a blue moon, the spec will name the card you tabled at the start and now you have a hands-off miracle. I also know of a Marlo procedure that makes the spelling a breeze. Additionally there's a switching technique that can do away with the Mexican Turnover and the Top Change. It was terrific fun thinking of ways to re-engineer the effect. Let me know if you're interested in the details. Cheers.
