Holy cow-- I've been shooting RE for about six years and have never changed the Profile to Camera Standard! Everything else you showed was in-line with my process, but I'm super curious to see what this does for my next shoot. Thanks Nathan!
@NathanCoolPhoto2 жыл бұрын
You're welcome! But make sure to set it to the profile you were using in the camera. In my case I was using Nikon's "Standard" picture profile (what they call Picture Control) so I selected Standard in LR. Some Nikon cameras will show up as "Standard V2", or other name. Play around with any RAW files you have on hand and you can see the difference.

Brilliant as always Nathan thank you. I am still saving up for a camera to start this career. Have been hiring some gear and getting a few gigs and doing some 360 with my Z1, which I also learnt from you and your book. Keep up the great work!

Hello Nathan, thanks for all the tips and tricks. I turned off the Diffraction Compensation in the camera. But I can't find my lens 14-30/4S from my Nikon Z6 II in the list, now what?

Hi Nathan, the common problem what I have is that I cannot select the Nikon Z 14-30mm F4 lens profile in the Lens Correction dropdown menu, Nikon Z line is not there. So the only thing that I can use is the Built-in profile. I 've studied o lot of threads on the internet, how to enable Nikon Z lenses correction profiles so on. And there are no any profiles for these lenses since Adobe relies on Built-in feature. According to this, we cannot disable built in profile application.
@NathanCoolPhoto2 жыл бұрын
More than likely the built-in profile adjustments from the RAW file will be fine. If you're happy with those, then there is no need to adjust anything further. But you can add "Manual" adjustments from the other tab on the Lens Corrections panel to adjust distortion and vignetting. Once you do that, save it in your preset.

Hey Nathan I just bought a Z5 as wel great introduction to Nikon Z systeml. With the lens correction in LR do you notice there are no Z lenses listed like the kit lens 24-70 F4? I thought by now LR would have Z lenses listed.
@NathanCoolPhoto Жыл бұрын
Most Z camera-lens combos will have built-in profile corrections. Check the "Lens Correction" panel and see if there is an information icon at the bottom that says "Built-in Lens Profile Applied". If so, you can click on that and it will display a dialog explaining how it used the embedded profile in the RAW file. Is this what you're seeing?

Excellent! Just like the rest of your tutorials. If I may ask, considering that ACR is basically the same as lightroom, why go backwards and forwards from lightroom to photoshop and back? Why not just use ACR and photoshop (which is my current workflow)?
@NathanCoolPhoto2 жыл бұрын
Thank you! Regarding ACR: LR has history, ACR does not. These are some of the basics of the workflow I talk about in book #1, here's a link to that if you'd like to check it out: amzn.to/3T9uX3o

Would you recommend f7.1 for exterior as well as interior?
@NathanCoolPhoto2 жыл бұрын
Great question. It's a little off topic for presets since aperture isn't affected by presets, but wider apertures are more important for flash photography, not for exteriors, yet tightening aperture too much can cause diffraction. I cover this in the interiors book amzn.to/3g0kvNC and the exteriors book at amzn.to/3rKxoy3 and I explain these issues with diffraction in amzn.to/3Tem1dy

Nathan, I got lightroom classic about a week ago, I don't have the options under profile once clicking on browse, that you show. Is this due to difference in 2024 vs 2022? Or am I just overlooking the feature?
@NathanCoolPhoto10 ай бұрын
You need to be using RAW files. Sounds like you are trying to edit JPGs, which already have a profile baked in, so you can't change it.
@tstewartou10 ай бұрын
@@NathanCoolPhoto You are absolutely correct. Do you recommend using RAW? Also, when trying to set up the preset, with photos in LRC that I haven't edited in photoshop yet, when I pick lens brand, it is recognizing different model (and only one, I can't pick different one), however with photos I have sent to PS from LRC and saved back into LRC, those are pulling up the correct Lens, is that an issue? Is that solved by using RAW images as well?
@NathanCoolPhoto10 ай бұрын
As a whole, it sounds like you are missing important fundamentals that need to be learned first, and are likely to open up more questions. To tackle this properly and succinctly I'd recommend taking a look at my books on REP at amzn.to/3wEoury and also my online courses at LearnRE.NathanCool.com These cover much more than what you can garner from social media posts and YT vids ;)

Do you recommend calibrating the color profile using a color checker card and saving that Lightroom or just using the camera match?
@NathanCoolPhoto2 жыл бұрын
I'm not a fan of color checker cards, something I talk about it amzn.to/3Of3s7T Also, you need to adjust your calibration based on not just one but number of different photos if the problem lies in the treatment profile, that way you can confirm where the problem lies, so a checker card likely wouldn't be much help.

Hi Nathan. Thank you for another great video and awesome books! I have a question if you wouldn't mind. With medium to dark wood floors, I've noticed the floors look ultra rich and almost shiny which is not a reflection of the real flooring. I know you said the preset it is great starting point and I know how I can fix it as it seems to be an issue of the blacks and highlights.. or lack there of if you will. There is also black hardware that I want to pop. Now I believe you said I your advanced editing book that you don't use Lightroom brushes. My question is, how would you fix this problem?

My LRC doesn't say "Adobe Color" , just "Color". When I click browse, there is no "Camera Matching" section. Just Basic, B&W, Artistic, Modern, Vintage. Am I missing something?
@NathanCoolPhoto2 жыл бұрын
This only works with RAW files. Sounds like maybe you are using JPGs?

Yes. I just checked and I changed it to RAW. I thought I was in raw. Ooops.
