It's hard for a lot of vocalists to stand out, Matt is great for this, another example is Bryan from Knocked loose

Matt reminds me of Jamie from Hatebreed as far as his vocals and delivery. Nothing wrong with hardcore music at all.

Loved this track. I actually quite like the vocals, the guttural tone really brings out the harsh reality of the people the song is about.

I definitely understand Johnny's response to the song. You can tell when he's listening to it that he's really digging it, but I also understand that it's something you grew up on and almost "grew out of". Ironically for me, I started with more accessible bands like A Day To Remember which then led me into metalcore which eventually led me to more of this kind of style hardcore. As far as the song, it kicked my shins so hard I somehow stubbed toe. 10/10 would mosh again lol
@sockwithaticket2 жыл бұрын
Probably the best Kublai Khan song I've heard, not that their other stuff is bad. I think it's actually a lot more structurally interesting than you guys gave it credit for. The sections where it's basically just drums and vocals, really broke up the fairly standard beatdown fare around it. The call and response interplay of Matt and Scott was baller, I really liked the way the lower and higher vocals contrasted.
@Kotsoros372 жыл бұрын
I agree there's a lot of dynamics in this song that make it stand out! Hyped for their new record!

I agree that in the context of am album I would have to see if it gets tiring but usually bands in this style don't make albums too long at least haha.

If you want to hear Matt’s passion and aggression in his vocals you need to listen to songs from their absolute album, or the Hammer or 8 years from the nomad album. Absolutely one of the most passionate vocalists in hardcore especially live. Matt is an absolute beast. Give this style of hardcore a chance and you will grow to love it like Johnny use to. A lot of his lyrics are based around respect for women and things as his mother was murdered so their pretty full on lyrics but worth listening to their other stuff and not base an opinion on this one song alone.
