I got into Gaming pretty late due to the fact that my parents wouldn’t buy me a console so when i finally got my 360 next gen had been out for a couple years but MAN i enjoyed every game on the 360 i played almost all the Good RPGS And story shooters (Dragon Age , Oblivion , skyrim etc) the cheap prices made it even more accessible to me , every other week id buy 5 games and had a blast definitely my favorite console

I grew up playing playstation consoles and always held spite towards Xbox (obviously because console wars were huge back then). But I recently bought a Series S and after playing that I became so interested in xbox. So i just bought my first 360 slim console, controller and 6 games for $83 on eBay! Pretty solid price considering the majority sell for around $100-$130. Should get it in the mail in a week, cannot wait to play some old games

If Sony, Nintendo, Sega or Microsoft had focused on backwards compatibility from the beginning, they would reign supreme forever. I've always found it odd they don't. Having the ability to just upgrade your console and be able to play the games you've collected has always been the gamers dream. It would also guarantee people would buy the their next gen system.

Xbox 360 is still amazing. The Metro UI is still my favourite console UI. Yes it's slow now, but ignoring the speed it's so damn smooth. Some of the games still look amazing. If you don't have a lot of money for video games they are sold so cheap and the games too. Amazing consoles 👌

I’ve never really viewed the original Xbox as a failure, that’s interesting. It wasn’t nearly as successful as the ps2 but I don’t think that was due a lack of quality software. Sony just ruled the gaming world back then. Microsoft put up a good fight and I still really enjoy the original Xbox. I’ve had more luck with them in terms of reliability compared to the ps2.

Well, exactly. Sony rode the wave coming off of the huge success of the PS2 (now going into the PS3). Xbox had a lot of competition with Sony and the introduction of the RROD didn’t help either lol. I never had a xbox 360 but I definitely love the Series x. I play some 360 games via backwards compatibility and love how xbox has improved framerates and resolution on back compat games. Fps boost is amazing, quick resume is something you must experience to really appreciate. The performance and loading times are unreal this generation. 360 still sounds like a great console but if you can get a series x or series s it's definitely worth the extra money. Gp ultimate is definitely a game changer as well. No wonder everyone says it's the best value in gaming.

I grew up with PS2/3/4 and i just recently picked up an Xbox Series S for the next gen capabilities. I absolutely love it, coming from a longterm playstation user too. Even though I can play 360 games on my Series S, i just bought an Xbox 360 Slim on eBay. I got the console, controller, cables and 6 games for $83! Your completely right the xbox 360 is still a great console, even if some games like Minecraft are still stuck on updates but hey in my opinion more nostalgic. I've had mine since 2017 (5 years) and through those years while I've abandoned it at times for my switch or my xbox 1 but after a week or so I picked it up again. But the only bad thing about it. Is the horrible fan, it sounds like a dying horse lol.

It is always a good idea to wait for one to two into a console live cycle to get it, because by then hopefully all the hardware mistakes have been fixed, most of the lunch titles are discounted, and better versions are released, don't test their product for them for free. Don't give into FOMO.

The slim models will always be better due to redisigns. Not only was the Xbox 360 slim better than the original (as mentioned in this video) but the same goes for the Ps3, wich also had a bit of a reputation for overheating. Sure, at the same time the manufacturers are also looking to cut costs and therefor remove certain ports etc. from the system (e.g. sd card slots on Ps3 phat) but overall you get a better, more reliable system.

I found one seriously it was only played 5 times ever in it's life came with 3 controllers it still had that new plastic console smell when fan came on got it all for a steal at $70 bucks for a grandfather that had it for his grandchildren years and years ago he had it stored in a box in his closet since 2010

This system still kicks ass tbh. Some controllers get trashy fast, ie the one I got with my system won’t stay connected and disconnects EVERY MINUTE, but they are cheap to replace! I own the FAT model pictured in this vid, with the silver disk tray instead of white. Accessories and games for the 360 are so cheap and kinectimals is my favorite. Not forgetting to mention the fun Kinect! Definitely worth buying in 2022! Don’t forget to get your wireless adapter for your 360 so you can connect to internet and XBOX LIVE!!!

actually, the big issue with the 360 wasn't solder melting, it was the recent move at that time to ban leaded solder in europe, leaded solder handles flexing better than non lead solder. so microsoft's console design coupled with leadless solder caused solder joints to break, not melt. the x clamp fix worked for a time, but eventually all launch style consoles will break. hence the release of the s model which fixed all the major hardware issues.

Leaded solder actually melts at a lower temperature. I'm not sure how it cracks as opposed to non-leaded solder, but if the machine runs hot, the leaded solder would melt first.

I bought a Xbox 360 S back in December for $70, I've been holding onto it to install mod chips, I've already replaced the Thermal Paste with Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut Extreme cause holy, there was basically no thermal paste on the SOC, No wonder the Xbox runs hot lol. Would recommend replacing Thermal Paste on any Xbox 360, let me tell ya, you need a lot of thermal paste cause the Cpu (SOC) Die is absolutely massive.

No need for a mod chip if it's a slim. You can do an rgh3 mod to it that just requires 2 wires and 1 resistor soldered in.

Only ever owned two Xbox 360 models. Both the original fat white models from the Arcade packs. Never got the RROD. However the first one died exactly one year after purchase wth an E74 graphics chip failure. Second one with a later revision motherboard is still working perfectly to this day. Xbox Backwards compatibility and xbox live arcade games is my main reason for owning an xbox 360. Modding it is another reason, so you can play all the backwards compatibility, XBL and 360 games from a hard drive.

Would definitely recommend one to anyone if you love 360 i even had a 2tb hard drive which i had around 500 games on until it broke so now only have a few games now but its still a blast and theres plenty of things to do on it from mod menus custom boot screens can even get any 360 game and dlc for free if u know where to look honestly a purchase im never gonna regret

you can't soft mod An Xbox 360 yet maybe in the near future but the clip you were showing of dash lunch and xex menu was on there because it hard modded like it has a mod chip solder to the board also known as rgh or rgh 2.0 the first 360 was able to be jtag but all slims only run rgh hack also known as reset glitch hack but otherwise good video 👍

i will say the 360 controller is nearly the perfect size and shape . if it had rear facing buttons where the tips of the fingers rest near , that does it for me . i use a weird gimmick controller they didnt make many of . still based on the 360 design shape just see through with led light bar and a 3 way rocker switches . Afterglow prismatic(Light Bar) was cheaper than microsoft at the time . Too bad they break easily on the usb part.

Hi Nathan, Great review as always but there is one "but". At 13:20 you have mentioned that X360 is easy to softmod and it is basically not true. In order to override kerner supervisor X360 needs to be hardmodded by installing an RGH2 or RGH3 modchip. Maybe your console has been modified before and that is why you don't have any problems with installing the new software. Otherwise great review, a nostalgia trip for me :) Thanks for great content !

im fairly certain there are other ways documented by Modern Vintage Gamer (its a channel on youtube .)he just really loves covering all of the exploits and ways to soft mod or hard mod consoles over the years. He covers the systems people make to use a wider variety of software for the older consoles as well. I could be wrong but I thought there were 5+ ways to mod an xbox 360. Dvd drive , mod chips , i think there is save game exploit for 2 specific games. cant think of any others so maybe just those.

It all depends on the model number. Some 360's are far easier to mod than others. I can't remember which models are the easiest but I know the newest one that came out with the xbox one is the hardest to mod

After seeing this video, I must say I am glad I got that beast repaired because it is still indeed my favorite to boot, however, I really want to take care of that console since it has a very big sentimental value and at the same time I really think it will come in handy in a very close future because this is more than a retro console but a time capsule and my shortcut to access games that aren't backward compatible, and the fact that it might play part in a future short film project. I got a blue version of the last Elite version, and I have to say I still love this console and I might want to play a bit before heading to college.

I have a question. I bought a 360s for my kids for Christmas. Can I use a larger flash drive such as 1 terabyte on the 360s console. I see in 2015 they updated the regular 360 to be able to use the larger flash drive but I'm reading the 360s only supports 16 gb. Thanks in advance

The original Xbox was awesome it was just late to the party as far as launch goes. It was a much better console than its PlayStation counterpart.

I don't get it, I think the graphics still look amazing, there is nothing wrong with it and generally as far as controls go there is nothing new about the modern consoles and the 360 controls are on point.

One of the many reasons why I purchased an xbox 360 in 2022 was not only the extremely affordable price but to relive memories. The 360 in 2022 still kickass as it did when it came out.

The reason why I asked that games can be played offine when I was on 360 I never did have trouble playing offine so is it the same to today non internet games will work offine if disc games?

I tell you this, I’ve got a Series X and Xbox one X. But I still have and play my 360. Let me tell you why. A lot of 360 games are not backwards compatible and I didn’t want to let those wonderful games go. I’m currently playing The Saboteur on the 360. On a 4K TV it looks amazing.

I recently bought the Hitman HD Trilogy, mostly because of Blood Money for the Xbox360 and i must say its really worth it. Maybe its not the 4k HD super fps gameplay but games of this time are just well made. Correct me if im wrong :) Ps.Sry for my bad english

MANY gems of games and movies were released in 2005 before. Xbox 360, Madagascar, Guitar Hero, NFS Most Wanted ‘05, “Lights! Camera! Pants!”, and Lego Brick Adventure games started in 2005. That’s all those memories of releases I knew, even when I played my first ever video game in 2005 when I was 6 years old in 1st grade. Any other releases you heard of before? Leave a comment! 😉

I've owned the original 360 [red ringed] the slim [eventually it would power on for 10 secs then turn off], and the E model. The e model is still goin strong to this day! Personally I'd go for the e I'd your lookin to get one but totally up to you

I can agree with this. I went through 3 phat models and i'm on my 2nd slim now. My first slim was a halo reach with a trinity board but it crapped out with a 0100 GPU error. The 360 E is the best model to get at this point for reliability Sadly all 360's will eventaully fail though due to a engineering issue with the GPU and the solder balls under the substrate.

The one plus with the OG xbox, was the cord allowing the use of RCA and Component cable, gave it more versatility that I use to this day (since there is never enough hdmi ports.)

I bought used original Xbox 360 (Japan version) $89 in 2019 for my personal collection, i still used this console in 2022..very good console 👍 I love it !

you don't need one lmao the kinect hooks up to the launch x1 i bought the 360 to play 1 game on it and the next day they added it to the x1 (katamari). 360 doesn't even feature full backwards compatibility to the OG xbox. just buy a steam deck and run an emulator off of it

The two Xbox 360 Console that you should not get is from 2005 and the 2008 elite get a slim bc it won’t give you red ring but the other two will but Xbox 360 slim has to have the beep sound when you turn it on

Not true. Slims suffer from red dot issues which is similar to the red ring on the phat console. Hundreds of broken slims on ebay with a red dot, no power, or shuts off 30 seconds from powering on
