@@beastorizeofsion Same. I still also like MGS2 more than 3 even though I really love both. I just got so used to relying on the soliton radar in MGS1 and 2 that not having it in 3 was so much harder, especially on ps2 and with crt tv's back in the day. With the re-release of MGS3 which included a free camera and especially the HD version of MGS3 on 360 and PS3 which is in higher resolution, I started to enjoy MGS3 allot more.
@beastorizeofsion2 жыл бұрын
@@BossZnakemaster Good choice, in regards to MGS2; I always preferred sci-fi stories inside military bases that are set in either snow or ocean settings. Jungles and deserts don't do it for me, and despite that, I do enjoy cyber and desert punk blends which is why I loved Jak 2&3. Outside any of the mentioned criteria, despite all that said, Uncharted 3 ended up being my favorite and really loved the desert levels from NG3: Razor's Edge. Also, the direction of MGS3 paying tribute to old school movies does not happen to be my favorite thing, I also felt like Solid Snake's stories were far more synonymous with the PlayStation brand too.

I literally just bought a PS2 in 2022 because it's my favorite console of all time and so much nostalgia for when I was a teenager. I'm softmodding it. Just have to wait for my Free Mcboot card. I have an old hard drive I took out of my desktop to install an SSD that I plan on using for the PS2. I have the fat model, which imo, is the best model. I had a slim after our original fat died. I loved it but it just doesn't look as great as the OG imo. It'll be fantastic once I'm able to revisit the classics of my teen and early 20 years.
@That_Handle2 жыл бұрын
If you still had your Slim ps2, depending on the model, that can be soft modded still to play many games from a thumbdrive via the USB port and, in many of those cases, also play online and LAN multiplayer (including LAN-tunneling). There will be small number of certain titles that were sensitive to the read speeds and players will desync and lose/not establish their connection to a particular set of players online if not using the same source media - USB versus CD/DVD versus IDE-to-SATA-adapted mass storage. Effectively, you could very well have a small LAN opportunity from your couple of PS2 consoles in addition to the online play from/with both of them. 👍🍻

I remember taking my PS2 to Iran back in 2003 and I went with my cousin to an electronic shop to mod it to play PAL/NTSC-J games at the time and now pretty much a "test" system to play region free games when it was region locked. I have over 300+ games for my PS2 and most games I have in my collection for it compared to the other systems I have and the only system I've really enjoyed from the GTA series, MGS, Ratchet & Clank, Jak & Daxter, Sly Cooper, Gran Turismo 4, Silent Hill series, Fatal Frame series, and many more I've played and still remember to this day. Even the rare games most people overlook like Metal Arms, Spy Fiction, Haunting Grounds, Extermination, Gungrave, God Hand, and many many more. The PS2 was and STILL is the best era of games ever made for the system.
@That_Handle2 жыл бұрын
Since yours wasn't constrained by region, do you still have the hardware to enjoy PS2 online and LAN-tunneled multiplayer? ... Drawing only from your list, Gran Turismo 4: Online-Beta (released for NTSC-U/C) has since seen successful online MP again via a fan server as well as Tourist Trophy hacks that can be applied to it. Also, Ratchet & Clank 3 / Up Your Arsenal as well as Deadlocked can be played online as can Metal Gear Solid 3-online and Jak-X Combat Racing among the current list of about 120 online and about another 20 exclusively LAN-tunneled PS titles. There are some quite large Discord groups where specific titles can be scheduled for increased player count as well as dropping a message for anyone to join in a short notice game on the spot. 👍

@That_Handle2 жыл бұрын
@@PokeBurnPlease , If you have any HDDs to recommend for the current OPL capacity limit - 2TB - or, otherwise, a confident forecast that OPL support will increase to, possibly, 4TB, I'm interested in recommendations for HDDs as long as they still receive (honest) positive reviews if not also anecdotal evidence they are being manufactured with quality and operational longevity in mind. Overall, I'd been hearing and reading that HDD manufacturing appeared to be slipping in recent years which is driving most buyers' rationale for SSDs - having little to nothing to do with SSD's data rate proposition since most buyers have since come to understand SSDs are constrained by the PS2's data rate. Simply, when buyers consider the dropping price of 2TB and smaller SSDs, an SSD is within reach mainly to be purchased for operational peace of mind while being fully aware they're not going to realize much of a noteworthy return, if any at all, when it comes to loading speeds/performance outside of typically cited observations regarding the PS2 running cooler and quieter. 👉 Back to HDD recommendations: I am on that side of the fence yet here because the scope of my project involves multiple networked PS2 consoles - iLinked as well as ethernet LAN'ed via ethernet switch - and, via that ethernet switch, ~daisy-chained to a modem for online play. Accumulatively, the overall cost-savings currently considering the 2 TB capacity across the consoles is quite noteworthy as an opportunity for redirection of funds if not reinvestment in other aspects of the project.

i have psp, ps2 (with psx support, and bunch of psx titles), ps3, ps4, og xbox, xbox 360 and gaming laptop - and ps2 is still my favourite. Although I use CRT TV for most games, even ps3 and xbox 360 titles (in most games i prefer crt look). PS2 library is mature enough to avoid many design flaws that plagued early 3d games, but is also very experimental when it comes to game design - most design patterns (like progression, controls, common elements like quazi ubisoft towers, or souls-like rolls) were introduced, or rather cemented generation later - on ps3 and xbox360, so ps2 feels very fresh, and is often filled with suprises. Many games aged nicely, and game library is filled with true hidden gems. Just like og xbox, ps2 too has it's unique vibe - and some games have that uncanny quality, where you almost feel nostalgic for something you see for the first time ever.

I think there are way too many games out now. It is so saturated. I go back to my PS2 a lot still because it's easier to pick up Devil May Cry or FFX, then be overwhelmed by having to need a FAQ to begin with. Not saying the games are not great today, but being an 80s kid, I enjoyed those games, bit by bit. A normal person probably won't even cover the Skyrim map or Witcher maps generally and still takes 60 plus hours to speedrun the game.

It plays some ps1 games but not a few i bought on ebay. So I'm looking for the best ps2 that will play ps1 games and ps2 games. I'm checking ebay because that's where i bought my ps3 and ps4 that i love and all the games for my ps2 ps3 and ps4. My ps2 may be fine now but I want to have a backup ps2 just incase. What if you don't have a ps4 or 5 and you have ps2 you can still manage the ps2

I really wish that my ps2 didn’t break back when I was 8 but if it still worked I would of been a PlayStation player than an Xbox player

I still have a ps2 but to be honest I can't play it anymore on my TV , the image just looks terrible even through hdmi adapter , I much prefer playing ps2 games with aether sx2 on Android or pcsx2 on pc

Really? Even we adjust the hdmi to 1080p? I didnt try to hdmi yet
@ccdani22 жыл бұрын
@@rolandorevidizo1757 the hdmi adapter gives 480p signal but it's much better than rca out from the ps2 , it's not upscaling to 1080p the image is sharper but it's no match to aether sx2 or pcsx2 upscaler to 1080p or 4k

i hated the ps2 slim, not only did it feel fragile to hold but was fragile from the inside with it's constant laser reading problems , i miss my fat boy so much , never got to fully realize the potential of it's hard drive and usb ports (edit:Also not a fan of how hot the slim got)

Should I get the ps2 classic? Or slim? I’m trying to mod this amazing thing but I’m not sure witch is better

I'll need my PS2 in 2032. I love the system to bits.😉

I need a ps2 because I’m missing a (working) ps2 and a ps5 for my collection. That’s why.

Never had one growing up. My first console was a ps4. But I remember going over to my friends and they had it.
