finally, got the concept right for accompaniment, chords and strategy for playing it the right way that sounds best. Thanks a ton, Jason! The worm diagram concept and the chord circle thing was what cleared everything in one shot. Great teaching!

thank you for this incredible video, you are helping a magnitude. But on another topic i would like to ask, when improvising do you pick a random chord progression and play over it, essentially what are you thinking when improvising?
@nathanielschool4 ай бұрын
If there is a chord progression, I'm thinking of chord tones to play over and also to associate a scale or mode to each chord. Or else, when all fails, just go with the Pentatonic and Blues scales. You might want to check this lesson out on Improvisation - kzbin.info/www/bejne/hHWTf2ykor6gpKc

Jason, I think you should consider teaching us the magic stuff you do between the chords to make the music sound so good and not boring like we play. 1,2,3,4 switch to the next chord play 1,2,3,4...BORING. We need the secret sauce.

Is spread voicing not the same as drop 2?
@nathanielschool Жыл бұрын
Don't think so. Drop 2 used seventh chords. This can be done with simple triads

I’m a guitar player . When I hear a guitar solo in a key sometimes there are notes in that solo that are not in the key . What are those notes called?
@nathanielschool Жыл бұрын
Hi James. Those are passing notes or chromatic notes which are based around a few chord concepts like secondary chords or borrowed chords

When selecting an inversion, do you consider the top note and whether the singer is singing that note? Do you want the melody note on top or do you want to avoid it?
@nathanielschool Жыл бұрын
Depends on a lot of factors. Sometimes I want a different note other than what the singer is performing. However, sometimes I want the chords to move smoothly into each other. Sometimes, It's just very tough to play those chords so inversions help simplify the process
