I don't mix with headphones because it gives me 15khz tinnitus pretty fast, like in 30 minutes. It happens when recording vocals too, so I try not to strain the ears. I do check the low end with them but avoiding using more than that. Also I'd avoid pizza and all other carbohydrates in a situation like this as they make the mind tired when the carbs hit. Would maybe avoid coffee too because it raises up tension with the mind : There was a study how brain activity rises up on the right side of the head some 5-10sec before inspiration hits, and it's seen as the mind combining things in memory and forming something new out as a mixture. The study also found out the brain needs to be in a relaxed state for it to be let to wonder around for coming up with inspiration, which is why the ideas come when laying down to bed to sleep, taking a warm shower, and with one or two beers to make the body relaxed -- but the beer trick works only maybe once a week (the brain adjusts easily) and anything over the amount will make it harder for the mind to handle ideas. Coffee on the other hand works great when doing mathematical and monotonous tasks, like book keeping or maybe dishes.

For me, this speaks to how the production process should be a collaborative effort. Multiple heads in a room working to one common goal. Helps share the workload, come up with new perspectives, challenge ideas etc. I struggle so much as a solo artist because I’m in my own head so much about production, mixing, lyrics etc. Props for taking on the challenge and succeeding.

@NathanJamesLarsen3 ай бұрын
I agree with the comment about it getting easier / quicker... the more you do it and the more you practice - the more things become muscle memory and it's like riding a bike. Never gets "easy" - it's always "hard" but it gets easier to know what to do next when you get stuck.

This video has really inspired me as a 12 year old music producer who’s feeling a bit demotivated when it comes to music production right now , but this video reminded me of knowing not everything needs to be “perfect” and that I should persevere, thanks.
@loveinhannah74853 ай бұрын
Hey man, i find it so cool to end up in corners of the internet like this because i get to virtually meet so many other music producers and that in turn motivates me to produce music. I think its absolutely amazing that a 12 year old kid knows what he wants to do - its not something that happens to every 12 year old kid, even many people my age are still living without a dream. Keep it up! I was once a 12 year old producer as well and I know how sometimes it gets frustrating and difficult. But just know that the more you do it the easier it gets! And yes every artist gets creative blocks, so don't worry about being demotivated!

Super song! I wrote all the lyrics down (from what I heard) LYRICS Nathan James Larsen - Supernatural [VERSE 1] You think we're living in a fantasy It's black and white for all to see No villains hiding just out of your sight Whatever helps you sleep on through the night [PRE-CHORSE 1] Oh-oh-oh-oh You never know just how far I'll go Oh-oh-oh-oh You never know just how wrong you are [CHORSE] Oh I'm stuck here chasing demons While the world is sleeping Having happy dreams and Thinking you're so safe and all alone Like we're living in some fairytale But I'm sorry to say It's supernatural [VERSE 2] Welcome to the world of make-believe It's nice to see you here, you can never leave The ghost s and monsters waiting for their time To feast upon your fear, you better walk the line [PRE-CHORSE 2] Oh-oh-oh-oh You never know just how far I'll go Oh-oh-oh-oh You never know just how close you are [CHORSE] Oh I'm stuck here chasing demons While the world is sleeping Having happy dreams and Thinking you're so safe and all alone Like we're living in some fairytale But I'm sorry to say It's supernatural [BRIGE] You're running through the dark Hoping that you get a second chance to live You're screaming through the night And praying for a miracle You're running through the dark Hoping that you get a second chance to live You're praying to God That you make it out alive Oh-ho-oh Oh you're living in a nightmare Oeh-oeh-oh Oh you're living in a nightmare [PRE-CHORSE 3] Oh-oh-oh-oh-oh Here we go oh-oh-oh-oh-ooh [CHORSE] Oh I'm stuck here chasing demons While the world is sleeping Having happy dreams and Thinking you're so safe and all alone Like we're living in some fairytale But I'm sorry to say It's supernatural [END OF SONG]

Hi, is cool how much Logic pro can be used for.... I got some questions as someone new to recording myself as a singer... Can Logic Pro be used for live looping in the same way as a dedicated looping station like the Boss RC-505 MKII, or do these two systems work quite differently? I already have Logic Pro on my MacBook and want to start recording myself singing layered harmonies, octaves, and then adding acoustic instruments like a flute or a MIDI instrument such as the ROLI Seaboard. Right now, my primary focus is using my voice creatively, and I have a Shure SM7B. I’m trying to decide between buying a looping station like the Boss RC-505 or a small MIDI controller or pedal that would make controlling Logic Pro’s looping features more convenient during live performances. Could you advise on the pros and cons of these two different approaches for live looping and singing, maybe even for Voice Acting? really need some advice of where to put my budget in the right way and get started more creatively... - thanks for getting back!

Hey Nathan, good to see you back! For me, the process of writing and producing is the interesting part of your videos. I don't care much for the racing against a deadline part. There are professionals that focus on the quality and openly admit they are not fast. But they are precise and people hire them for their sound and the overall quality. I think it's important for people to find a tempo that suits them best... too many deadlines can burn you out fast. After release, people don't care if a song was made in 12 hours or if it took a week.

So much inspiration, but the major takeaway from this for me is: as producers, we often get in our own way trying to make everything perfect when there's no way we'll ever do that.
