Nathan: I love it when you have these challenges! It gives me two production perspectives to learn from. It was so cool that you worked with Alex Rome, (who I started following at the beginning of the year) I like both compositions, but I lean toward my sensei (NJL) as a PA student. Notice how when they both are listening to the vocal before the challenge starts, they nod their head to the tempo in synchronization. And there’s no drums or anything. As a music producer you start to do these things without thinking. It’s honestly amazing.

Both versions were fire but being a more traditional musician I connected with James version because of his harmony choices. I liked the chords and bass line under the melody.

Great tracks both! Also just wanted to say, Nathan, I appreciate the exactness and positivity of your vocabulary. Instead of saying "good bass" or "I like that", you'll say stuff like "growly bass" or "drippy orchestral". Makes for more engaging and interesting commentary. Improves my vocab as well. Thanks!

some of the percussion on Nathan's song was really thought out and sounded great, including the piano ending which i'm always a supporter of :) Rome though I do love slap house and the vocal chop in your drop (and the presets from your pack which are fire). @@LeChapeauMusic I'll be in Thessaloniki in a few weeks if you want to talk about this. People have sampled melodies for years and years and years. Beethoven even sampled Mozarts. You can change around MIDI to if it gives a starting point yes it will make your tracks sound more pressional.

I put a lot a lot of work into these so they include a lot of new progression, melodic ideas etc. Some people are vocalists, guitarists, drummers etc. so it's like playing in a band. When you just drag and drop and don't make it your own, it can def be not as good.

This is super difficult to choose - both have incredible elements and ideas to draw the listener in… my heart is embedded in pop and Nathan won my soul on this, it doesn’t take away how incredible Alex’s version is. Nathan for this one 🙏

This was Super fun! I am a huge fan of both of y'all and actually watch both of your channels! Agh! its so hard! I like them both so much! I really like the way Alex built up the chorus and added the choppy vocals and the bending bass, but I really liked the story you get with Nathans, and I loved how Nathan right before the dreamy part, he went up with his Chords and added a diminished chord!! great job both of you!! Been a fan and learned a lot watching Alex's videos. And I am pretty sure Alex did a great job on this even if the vocals or more perfect for pop. He could have put a riser before the vocal chops so the anticipation is still there. But still, one vote for Alex!
