I think both sounded amazing in their own ways! The first one is very familiar so I can see why a lot of people in the comments would choose that. I think it’s pretty awesome how in the second one he went the opposite direction of the song. Producing on the “off beat” and doing things completely different. He was truly challenging the listener to NOT *get comfortable.* 😂🔥 loved both!

PRO was full of instruments but also might have been too much variety (throwing everything into the mix, the slapping bass, horns, it's like a Roland new synth demo) Amateur sounded more focused and unified, and with simplicity. You know it's good when you can't take any parts away.

Amateur producer? His version sounds pro to me. Also, the project looks pro as well. I would say you are both on a similar (high) level. I guess the only difference could be that Nathan earns money with his music while (probably) Phil doesn't yet (that's at least the only valid reason for the title of this video)

As I mentioned after his song - if I didn't know Phil was an amateur I wouldn't be thinking "this is an amateur" - I've listened to his music when he started my program and what he did in this video compared to the beginning is night and day difference.

I gotta say, I believe I like Phillip's version the most. Both sounded great though. I do dig the more detailed layering Nathan did, but I felt that Phil's stayed more true to the vocal's emotional tone. I might be a little biased because I'm a big rock/metal fan, but I usually prefer less elements in songs. Too many different sounds can sometimes muddy the waters for me in my listening experience.

Dua Lipa or rather her Music producer's (because she don't actully make music she just sings) littrelly rip off all the most popular music from 90s artist like Jamiroquai and the drums in her tracks are generic and she use the same 4 cords like almost all other pop stars.
@Jcjenxnc
@Jcjenxnc 2 жыл бұрын
@@HOLLASOUNDS not every pop song uses the same chords. It’s just the ones that do use them blow up cause those chords are the easiest and most “complete” sounding chords.
@HOLLASOUNDS
@HOLLASOUNDS 2 жыл бұрын
@@Jcjenxnc No that's got nothing to do with it. The reason they use the same cord progression, or song structure or sound is to create a sence of familiarity in the listeners head making them more likely to like the new song and not really know why. The other reason is that why bother comming up with new ideas when they can just copy somthing that's already been done. The songs could be absolute trash but enough money thrown at public influencers and adds will make it a hit anyway hence why anyone who knows music knows that most pop music is generic crap. The days where pop stars actually made great original music died around the same time as Freddy Mercurys death.
@Jcjenxnc

@cryptocaesar8972
@cryptocaesar8972 3 жыл бұрын
@Frenzied Unicorn ProductionsUhh, the point was that more basic people and basic musicians wants to take a more basic approach, the approach the amateur took was what I feel most amateurish producers would go for, on the contrary the pro specifically said from the beginning he wants to take this song a weird way you wouldn’t expect and he did that with a very unique take. Most amateur producers don’t have unique takes as they are still attempting to get their songs sounding good in a normal way, this goes for all art, you can look at a Picasso and say it looks like a bunch of scribbles and you can look at an amateurs drawing of a realistic cat and you can say you like that cat more than the Picasso, but that doesn’t mean the amateur is a better artist, the professional knows is just on a different level of doing things. Lastly about jazz musicians, jazz musicians are often the most skilled of any musicians so maybe you have a bad example? It’s actually a similar thing, many people don’t like jazz music because they feel there is too much going on but jazz musicians such as jazz guitarist are often times much much better guitarists than every other genre of music, they know chords and timing and have the mind to play through scales in a way that most guitarists could ever dream.

Nathan's was mixed better in my opinion and had a lot of the little nuances that set him apart as the more experiences producer but I love Phil's idea from the minor 7th to the adding of the bridge choir (so dope). I'm team Phil on this one but I have mad respect for both of you! And what a great idea, taking the same vocal track and produce two different records. Love it!

I thought Nathans was a bit confused. Less cohesive, also a bit dated. Phils hit the vibe and could be used. Phil has a lot of natural talent. JMO xp

Nate kept it simple so was more likely to just sit better in the listeners ears. You do realise that most pop songs used the exact same drums and key as each other.

Nice work but the “ amateur “ has a better taste and imagine he doesn’t know all the hacks and tricks in the daw 😂. He inspired himself with some timbo tracks with the groove of the drums

I'm just glad he (The Amateur) didn't add a dam trap style 808 like every other beat made these days, however I would of put in a sub base under that base he used as it's not very deep.

@Frenzied Unicorn Productions Yes and I think it can either hinder or help producers who don't use that 808 All the time. I experiment with bass sometimes not really getting it bass enough I go for the sound and then later put a bass under it. Some beats sound good with a booming deep bass but others it just overpowers the rest of what's in the beat like strings.

@@producerhat luckily it's very easily done, all he has to do is find a basic deep bass and put that along with the current bass. I'd just make a new line and copy paste the bars from the current bass. Would take about 2 seconds.

As much as I love fast music, Phil's choir extra just changed the game. I'd just love to take that part with the bridge, up the tempo and add it to the Pro's! Please are these tracks available for public listening?

I think Nathan, you had great production. I loved the fact that you used a dance beat, wish you would have stuck with 4 on the floor throughout, the breaks with the "hey, ho" kinda made the beat a little hard to feel the groove through. Great job. I am going to have to say that I liked Phil's better, the vocal sat a little better on the 1. Both did a great job

You both have done amazing job there!! Its so close but uniquely seoerated, beautiful detailing at so many chord variations, absolutely loved it!! ❤❤👍 Philip kept his focus to keep the vocal at the high and focussed without blanketing it too much with other sounds, the vocal stays prominent throughout, well done!! ❤❤❤

The Amateur really Sounds Pro to me except that his Chorus wasn't big enough ( larger than life chorus) so the excitement expected in it was cut short. Every other thing is highly engaging.

Phillip's has the Verses and bridge. And Nathan's has the Chorus. Put them together and it's a great bop. My vote goes to Nathan because it fealt like there was more pieces of the song that made it sound original, however not by a stretch. Obviously Phillip has got some skills 😉

BrOOOOOO!!! watching you made me remember why I love production! It's another language you speak through the creation of music and what you're doing right now is a key way to get better at production by really listening and hearing what the producer is saying with every sound the placement arrangement the way you ride the tempo. Great stuff!!
