Dropshot texposed 4.5in fat straight tail roboworm MMIII on the 1 - 1/0 owner cover shot or gamakatsu rebarb hooks absolutely destroy heavily pressured bass in Socal. The line visibility is so important with this technique too because half of the time I don't even feel the bite, I can just see my line start to move and that's when you know they have it. Key with this technique is waiting until they really have it but not waiting too long so they don't swallow it! Also, the fact you caught the same fish twice and got your bait back is awesome. I did this exact same thing about a month ago and I was so stoked to know that fish wasn't out there with that hook and bait stuck in its mouth. Great video Nathan!

Have you tried an owner down shot hook? These are strong but light wire hooks that you can use to Texas rig on a dropshot but still fish it on a medium or medium light spinning rod and be able to set the hook. Try it out.

@@nathanquincefishing7122 hands down my favorite finesse dropshot hook 😉
@tomearly1114 ай бұрын
I have used something like that for many years. My favorite bait for that is the Senko 5" thin. I use a #4 EWG worm hook. When I first started drop shotting I was using a open #1 mosquito hook like many other people. In North Jersey there is so many weeds and grass I was constantly cleaning that off the hook or getting hung up. I just replaced that with the small offset worm hook and it has worked great. Even with that light hook because of the way it sits on the line I almost always get a great hook set right in the top of the mouth and I never get hung.

2/o medium wire gamakatsu rebarb hooks are the best hooks for texas rigged dropshots. All you need to do is reel the slack and lift your rod and the hook is past the barb in the top of the mouth.

INDEED, AGREED! My family and I were blessed to have dinner with that wonderful young fisherman during the 2005 Bassmaster Classic held in Pittsburgh PA. Aaron placed 2nd in that Classic only 7 ounces shy of winning. He had winning fish on his hook the last day that broke off. He was runner up in 4 Bassmaster Classics, 2002, 2004, 2005 and 2011. Rest in peace my (our) fishing friend.

Nathan, you look thinner my friend, especially in the face! I love drop shot fishing but, it's been hit and miss for me this Summer. I always leave the hook point exposed as I think it helps me land more fish and miss less. Good video!

Hook sets may be a challenge using bobber stops as you give up a “direct link” to the hook if the hook can slide down the line to the dropshot weight. Also, the hooked fish could use the dropshot weight as leverage to pop the hook out of the mouth of the fish.

@flaminggorilla9094 ай бұрын
Palomar knot. You can learn any knot I promise you will be fine but generally Palomar is considered the best beginner knot.
@philiphudson8804 ай бұрын
For braid, double palomar is the strongest and easy to learn. Works great with monofilament also. Flourocarbon , try a triple loop knot. If you just want to learn one knot, the Uni knot is pretty good but I’ve had them fail. If using live bait hooks, a snell knot is hard to beat and easy to master. Tight lines.

I just found your channel. Enjoyed the video. I watch a bunch of fishing channels. I have never paid for content but if it was a $1 or $2 I think you might get some subscribers. Pro’s have channels and most are under $10 a month. Things I would pay for would be to get better with Humminbird electronics or a map study, fishing lake prep. I fish almost every weekend I can. Don’t care for tourneys as I just want to catch fish and not be tied to a time or certain set of lakes.

You’ve got heavy competition before you can charge monthly fees mate. Best bet would be offering a monthly lure with addition content for under 5$. This is when you link up with new lure companies to try to get their names out while you build a following.

Why tie a clip-on dropshot weight? How do you then adjust the position of the weight? By re-tying? Those weights are meant to be clipped on. I've had only one come loose in many years. But I agree, texas hooking a dropshot lure is very effective. And a far easier knot: kzbin.info/www/bejne/hKKxpa2uf9SAZ7s

Great video keep up the hard work it'll pay off but you kind of messed up with your approach unfortunately you got to make people want to pay and make them feel like there's something and some intangible valuable info that will only be able to be obtained by being on the private and on a personal membership level that's usually what makes someone to pay for it if you know what I'm saying what do you think the knowledge and info that you're teaching is worth and what makes your own take on things valuable you obviously have subscribers so it has some value

I would re-think making blanket statements about how to fish. Almost all of your videos have a headliner on the video thumbnail that imply that the viewers just don't have a clue. It looks like the same type of clutter that has infested most fishing videos. Then there is the flat monotone delivery. All in all, I would not quit my day job just yet.
