Don’t go mainstream. It’s so refreshing as it is and is a great antidote to the dull cookie cutter moto vlog channels who do little more than read the spec sheet and give the manufacturer some free advertising.

You mentioned the bike as an inanimate object, and this resonates with me. Early this week, I sat chatting to a chap I'd just met. He was talking about his support networks. Apart from his partner and work colleagues, he said that his motorbike is the single most important thing in his life. I'm not here to challenge him, or defend those people saying 'what a load of tosh'. However, I think there is a very thin line between these lumps of metal being more than the sum of their parts! The connection we have with our bikes, the journey, the world, and just as important; the people we meet along the way. HNY Nathan 😉

Nice to see a post where the presenter isnt being the harbinger of doom about the motorcycle industry ! Even though I only have 2 bikes , one of them will be going and the departee will be my X-Cape as Ive recently ridden a Himalayan and loved it ! Fell out of love with the X-Cape after it spent 6 months in the dealers , i know ill only get a goldfish and a balloon for it in this climate but c'est la vie !

Congrats on the new place, that A2 fleet has expanded quite a bit in 2024, and I’ll be interested in seeing what new bikes will join the fleet this year. Busy year of bike tours, not sure yet if I will be able to do any of them this year, but hope at least to ride over to North Devon at some point. The book is a great read and just shows whats achievable with very little machinery. Like I have said you have some spine to do what you have done with little in equipment and finances

@@nathanthepostman Thanks for the tip Nathan, had no idea these existed to be fair. Which one where you thinking of getting? There's quite a few models 200-400cc old and new, going to have a look, actually interested in one now 😄. Have a pair of VanVan's atm (125 and 200) that we got instead of CT125's that we wanted. Got the misses a Versys 300 recently too, with the low seat from Kawasaki she's 5'4" and she really likes it for touring, just a bit big and heavy still for her for off roading. If i had known the alp existed i might've gotten one instead of the VanVan 200. Have a 790R myself, but i've ridden the other ones more in the last year to be honest, too many speed camera's etc around here in Belgium, just isn't that much fun if you're in constant danger of losing your license.

I've bought a couple of tickets for the HC draw but definitely don't want one if I do win, pop the ticket back in the hat ; ) I only sold my red one end of last year (got a decent price for it as well so it's a very generous gesture from your business partner to let all three go, there's deffo £10k+ there in them) and still have my beige one which is a keeper. Good to see all the bikes Nathan. I’ll be interested to hear who gets the one (two? three???) CT125, I paid for some tickets but for the ‘reason’, not to win. Though wouldn’t say no to the little Honda. Watching the Exeter Trial on YT today it looked like at least 3 of your little CCM machines on the Slippery Sam section. Hope they all got home safe in the snow! Have a really good 2025 mate. Les

@@pitchwife7573 I reckon you know there'll not be a fat lot in it. My experience with the older bikes is that they all fibbed about their weights and actually weigh more than they claimed. So I reckon 5 kg in it, max.

Agree entirely about the need for more intersting stories rather than yet more bike reviews and technical spec...zzzz.... Since getting into motorcycling I've been astounded by the quality of the press and literature and not in a good way. Why is it that if you drop into any Waterstone's there are shelves of travel books and yet at best one or two that relate to motorbikes? Just compare say the size of the mountaineering section to that given over to biking... There are lots of reasons for that disparity, but much of it comes down to the inevitable emphasis on routes and revs (we did this and then that and then went ...) rather than the inner story of why we ride bikes in the first place, how it changes our perspectives and why the bike is just a mechanical means to something much bigger and more importnat... Two of the best (and best selling) books ostensibly about motorcycles (Zen and the Art... and Jupiter's Travels) are not really about bikes at all. But then what would I know.. I'm just a writer...
