NATIONAL 3 PEAKS CHALLENGE SOLO 24 HOURS (Ben Nevis - Scafell Pike - Snowdon)

This is my experience of the National 3 Peaks Challenge.
The full challenge took me 23 hours 46 minutes. I could not do the maths in my head at the end of the video, I was so tired.
I did Ben Nevis in 4 hours 12 mins
Scafell Pike in 2 hours 55 mins
Snowden in 3 hours 48 mins
The reason the challenge took me so long when each individual mountain was fairly quick is because I spent a lot of time messing about in the car. Which I couldn’t really help due to how I was eating my meals.
It’s true that I have no experience climbing mountain, any hills or inclines what so ever. But I will say I am reasonably fit and I wouldn’t have attempted it otherwise.
The video would not have been possible without my little brother, Kieran. He deserves a massive thank you, just for putting up with me.
I initially planned on just using his computer and using GoPro Quik to do the editing. I saw that he could already use Sony Vegas, so we decided that he would take the wheel, with me say in the passenger seat giving directions, and sometimes shouting that he’s gone the wrong way 😂

Fair play and great effort completing it in time! I nearly had a heart attack when you approached the snow edge on Ben Nevis. Edges of snow are called cornices where wind blows snow over solid ground and the snow builds horizontally creating a false edge with no solid ground beneath. You were virtually stood on one. Could have easily given way and the end of you. Things can go very wrong quickly in the mountains. Just explaining if anyone else is reading this thinking of going up with minimal experience. Also all mountain paths have cairns (piles of small rocks which people have piled up) that guide you on a safe route to avoid danger. In doubt, always follow the cairns. Top effort 🫡

Boss video! Probably the best 3 peaks video I've found and watched. The 'Jesus fucking christ' at the edge of Ben Nevis was the highlight haha!

well done lad, did this last year.. tho am not sure if ur aware how close to a fatal accident you were on top of ben nevis there as am pretty sure you were on a snow cornice with very little below you 😮

Hi mate, thanks for the comment! I know, I do cringe watching it back. Curiosity drew me a lot closer to the edge than I should’ve gone. And it took me too long to realise, so it’s something to know for next time. It does look a lot closer on camera though.

Proppa nutter doing that on your own, I ve done this but in a group havin to have driven aswell as all the walking is a feat in its self welldone !! didnt get to see anything at the top of ben nevis for fog so to see the drop off and how severe and close it ws was something else on your video !!. your timings could have been a bit better had you started at 5.30pm at nevis you could have done 90% of your walking in the daylight I think as we did. so to have to walk up and down snowdon in the pitch black is not easy either as ive done it in daylight and dark many times. Great video and an amazing achievement solo Liam . I wouldnt recommend anyone did it on there own either

Agree, Time of start is crucial, so many people get it wrong. 1730 hours or 1800 in high summer gives you all the hills in daylight.

17:30 Standing on crappy snow over a vertical drop looking at crappy snow on a vertical drop and not once did you say "This is a dumbass place to stand". Mountain rescue like guys like you. You keep them relevant.
