"Gott erhalte Franz den Kaiser" (English: "God Save Emperor Francis", lit. "God save Francis the Emperor") is a personal anthem to Francis II, Emperor of the Holy Roman Empire and later of the Austrian Empire. The lyrics were by Lorenz Leopold Haschka (1749-1827), and the melody by Joseph Haydn. It is sometimes called the "Kaiserhymne" (Emperor's Hymn). Haydn's tune has since been widely employed in other contexts: in works of classical music, in Christian hymns, in alma maters, and as the tune of the "Deutschlandlied", the national anthem of Germany.

Die Österreichischen Kaiserhymnen, auch Volkshymnen genannt, waren ab 1797 Hymnen des Hauses Österreich und von 1826 bis 1918 die offiziellen Kaiserhymnen des Kaisertums Österreich, das seit 1867 die Länder der ungarischen Krone nicht mehr umfasste (Österreich-Ungarn). Die Hymnen lauteten stets auf die vom österreichischen Komponisten Joseph Haydn im Auftrag von Kaiser Franz II. komponierte Melodie. In der Habsburgermonarchie gab es keine National- oder Landeshymnen einzelner Kronländer. Vielmehr wurde der Text der Kaiserhymne dem jeweils amtierenden Kaiser gewidmet, so dass sich der Text bei jedem Thronwechsel änderte. Auf die Melodie der früheren österreichischen Kaiserhymne wird auch das 1841 von August Heinrich Hoffmann von Fallersleben gedichtete Lied der Deutschen gesungen, dessen dritte Strophe heute die deutsche Nationalhymne ist.

Auch in Jugoslawien, obwohl alle Republiken Slawen waren haben sie sich getrennt. Der von den Serben 1914 ermordete kuk-Thronfolger wollte für die Slawen dieselbe Konstruktion wie für die Ungarn - mehr Selbstständigkeit, das aber passte den Serben nicht, weil sie ein Gross-Serbien wollten, daher ermordeten die Serben den österr Thronfolger serbischer Volkssport Morden 1903 ihr eigenes Königspaar in den 9o-iger Jahren des vorigen Jahrhunderts: Wieviele M slems wurden abgeschlachtet von en Serben ? Österreich klein aber fein, was läuft schlecht für den einzelnen Bürger?

@@CosmicDalmatian Actually, you'd be wrong, Gavrilo had nothing to do with the Serbian government. Austria saw it as an opportunity to finally nail down on the Serbs, whom they wanted to subjugate. The Austrians knew the Serbs will reject the ultimatum and they acted accordingly by declaring war.

@King Victor Not quite, Yugoslavia wasn't only a serbian idea, it was wanted by the slavs both in Austria and in Serbia, as for Franz wanting to create a Third Kingdom, I'm not so sure about it. I think a Slavic State would still have to bow down to Austrian laws and Austrian legislation. They wanted out as an independent state. About the organisation involved in the assassination, called the "Black Hand", they were an organisation operating in exclusively Austrian occupied slavic lands (i. e. Bosnia and Croatia, which wasn't quite occupied, but Bosnia was). The Black Hand didn't quite operate with the Serbian government. In conclusion, Yugoslavia wasn't just a serbian idea, but a pan-slavic idea, and it wasn't necessarily just a plan for Greater Serbia, unlike what some Serbs wanted (Chetniki/Black Hand).

@@CosmicDalmatian In a book I read (by a Yugoslav) the author wrote that as Princep lay dying of tuberculosis as WW1 raged, he said “I did not start WW1”. The issue of cause is pretty complicated but Germany is blamed as they could have prevented it, by telling the Austrians to stop this invasion nonsense. But there’s plenty of blame to go around. Kaiser Wilhelm sounds terrible in most accounts although he did not have the power to invade anyone.

Serbia didn't win, not now and not then. Austria Hungaria was only defeated due to the British, French and Russian countries making an alliance. Serbia didn't do jack, even hilariously failing everytime they tried an assassination. It was sheer bad luck that caused the death of Franz Ferdinand. Look at the state that Austria is in, flourishing and thriving and now look at Serbia, exactly.

They only had some progress when the germans and bulgarians stepped in to help them by invading serbia Their humiliating results made them toxic and then they commited atrocities to serbian civilians, how pathetic. At the end of the war the serbians and some french forces managed to defeat the bulgarians, austrians and germans in their main land so look who the winner is! If the austrians didn't see serbia as an easy grab to expand their influence and an easy victory, then they wouldn't have send such a harsh ultimatum to them which caused ww1 to happen and the fall of austria hungary. Like i said: THEY shouldn't have messed with serbia! They were the biggest losers after ww1, even worse than the russians because their empire literally ceased to exist

Serbia from the get go wanted all south slavs to be united as one, something we later know as Yugoslavia and they thought that would be easy since back in austria only Austrians and Hungarians were treated equally, the rest wasn't neglected but they were just sorta there as the Empire rose, that was when Franz Josef ruled, after Franz Ferdinand was in power he made the land more social, meaning he began to make life easier for the people, cutting work hours and generally treating them better. Serbia saw this and was appalled, they hated the idea of not being able to have thier own empire, they wanted these slavs under serbian rule and so terrorist groups like the black hand were formed, they seeked the death of an innocent and great man. When Franz was shot dead in Serbia they refused to let austrian investigators to take over the case in Serbia. Ferdinand specifically said that if they weren't allowed to do that they would start a war, which eventually happened. Little bitch Serbia ran to Russia crying like a little girl and the rest is history. Serbia caused the death of millions, Serbia by denying this simple gesture of letting austrian officials investigate the death of thier Leader caused ww1. From the start germany and italy as well as austria establish themselves as allies. Humiliating results? You have no idea what you're talking about do you? A reason as to why Austria and Germany lost the world War was due to Italy not stepping in, they were hungry for land, land that they eventually got after stabbing austria and germany in the back. There was no talk or even idea of grabbing Serbian land initially or even after Ferdinands ultimatum, Ferdinand was a grieving man who had just lost someone very close to him. After Franz died he was held up in Vienna for an entire week just grieving over the death of a loved one and his wife, he was emotional and thus explains his harsh yet giving the situation fair decision. Typical American telling other's to study some history, the irony.
