@@Poseidon-vi6cv Yes, but a lesser of two evils. The Soviets weren't as fixated on the extermination of minorities as the Germans, they didn't make their goal the wiping out of the "Untermensch". Starvation and in general poor standard of living was common in the Bloc, at least until the 80s when the Warsaw Pact started opening up to the West and Western companies, but if the Fascists had achieved their goal, there wouldn't be any non-Germans TO live in low-quality accomodations with poor education etc.

Although we Americans tout the D-Day invasion as constituting the beginning of the end for Nazi Germany, Stalin's victories on the Eastern Front at Stalingrad, Leningrad, and Kursk actually marked the gradual unraveling of Hitler's grand plans for territorial conquest (like the Battle of Britain) by forcing the Fuhrer to retreat from the Eastern Front to escalate his efforts to send all Jews and all non-Jewish Poles to the death camps in Poland in a bid to prevent the supposed specter of "Judeo-Bolshevism" from taking over Europe, while casting doubt on the image conveyed by Hitler of an invincible racist tyrant who would say, ""Hahahahahahahaha! Europe is all mine, and no one can snatch it away from me!" Although Stalin agreed with Marx and Lenin that religion was "opium of the masses", the Red Army used the liberation of Auschwitz and World War II on the Eastern Front to send a message to the Nazis that Russians were a hardworking people with a history of making advances in science and technology, including the invention of the periodic table, the theory that multistage rockets were essential to taking people to outer space, and the creation of many of the first giant airplanes, including the Il'ya Muromets bomber of World War I, and that communism was in no way a Jewish people. Non-Jewish Poles, devout Protestant and Catholic priests and nuns in France, Benelux, and UK, and Russian Orthodox priests who had been targeted by Stalin during the 1920s and early 1930s also shouted loud words of encouragement to Allied soldiers fighting the Germans, reminding them that Hitler's murder of Poles, homosexuals, and mentally disabled people was a complete contravention of the teachings of Chapter 25 of the Gospel of Matthew - feed the hungry, heal the sick and welcome the stranger.

The Soviet Army during the Cold War was the biggest standing army in the world, numbering over 3.66 million men and women in uniform as of 1990. China's standing army, the People's Liberation Army (whose name seems outdated these days because it is no longer the ragtag guerrilla army during the 1930s but instead is a powerful military), is now the largest army in the world, numbering over 2 million strong, followed by the Indian Army and North Korea's Korean People's Army.

It's most probably Marshal of France Philippe Leclerc You can note the specific french military salute and the legion of honor and others allied medals (i think i see soviet order of red banner and a british decoration). But i'm not sure, i'm come back to you when I have confirmed this. The french and soviet were close enough during WW2 because De Gaulle don't really trust american (he didn't really like Eisenhower , he preferred Churchill). So an squadron of free french pilot was deployed to eastern front (2/30 normandie Niemen : look this amazing Rafale fighter with red star : www.google.fr/search?q=2%2F30+normandie+niemen&tbm=isch&ved=2ahUKEwjhhIje36HuAhUGwYUKHQwoC6EQ2-cCegQIABAA&oq=2%2F30+normandie+niemen&gs_lcp=CgNpbWcQA1AAWABg1ewCaABwAHgAgAEAiAEAkgEAmAEAqgELZ3dzLXdpei1pbWc&sclient=img&ei=sYkDYKHoA4aClwSM0KyICg&bih=598&biw=1366#imgrc=ae5nDxPzR3ZbZM). at the end of the war, Stalin himselfe awarded this unit and some pilots (posthumous) with the distinction "hero of the soviet union", the highest distinction of USSR.
