LSU plays Florida every year, and sometimes both Florida and Georgia in the same season like they did twice in back to back years these past 2 years. While got damn Alabama continues to not only have soft schedules every year, but they never play a Florida, they play a Vandy, Kentucky or a weak Tennessee now. Clemson, Oklahoma, Georgia, Alabama & Florida went a combined 60-4 against everybody not named LSU. LSU beat all of them & beat them by an average of 20 points per game. Nationally ranking of some of the defenses the 2019 LSU team played against. #1. Georgia #3. Clemson #7. Florida #12. Alabama #15. Auburn LSU put up over 500 yards of offense against everyone of those defenses !!! LSU played 7 games against teams that were ranked in the top 10 out of 15 total games played. Therefore meaning that LSU basically played against a top 10 ranked team every other game in the 2019 season. Yet they still put up the numbers that they did against that schedule, THAT’S UNREAL !!! They played against the overall hardest strength of schedule that a mythical FBS football national championship awarded team has ever played against in the entire history of the game & they completely owned it !!! I’ve been a college football fan for right at 50 years now. Over that time period I’ve never seen anything like that 2019 LSU team, I mean you literally expected them to score each & every time they snapped the ball !!!! The 2019 LSU team’s spot is cemented as being the greatest team in the 151 year history of college football !!!!

Complain all you want about the targeting call, but LSU had already shown they could easily rack up yards and put up points- even with Skalski in the game. Was that a blow to Clemson's D? Yes. Did that call change the outcome of the game? No. Remember, Chase dropped an easy TD pass; and LSU had mercy on Clemson at the end of the game. The final score could have easily been 56-25.

I will agree. Ask Ohio State their opinion about targeting calls. I am sure OSU fans would agree it was a "bad call". But the ejection of a player is meant as a deterrent to avoid a player being hurt by a nasty tackle or "blow". It boils down to coaching. If coaches can't prepare their players better to avoid "near" targeting hits, then they need to do a better job. I seem to recall an LSU player being called for targeting earlier in the season. Maybe it was a Georgia player. A player being ejected for targeting may seem drastic, but consider that potentially a player could be knocked out for a season because of tackle. Either way, it shows whether a team has the depth to replace that player.

@@alexjones28 Once the refs called the tacky defensive pass interference on the Lawrence interception, the offensive pass interference was going to be called, and the offensive P.I. was the correct call, Higgins pulled the LSU player around and down across him. Correct call 100%. On Lawrence's interception it would never been called in most game.

I played football, and that is a No No, you just can't lead with your head on a tackle. The coaching had an effect simply by the fact that LSU had to adjust to Clemson's defense. who made that adjustment, the coaching staff did. Strength of schedule 2019 LSU - 2nd 2013 Florida St. - 59th LSU played a helluva lot harder schedule than what Florida St. did. LSU also could’ve scored a lot more points than what they did has they wanted too !! LSU beat on Clemson until they laid down and quit even trying to compete in the 2nd half of the game. For those blaming the ref's for the targeting call the rules are..."forcible contact to the head, neck or shoulders of a defenseless player". I think the rule should include "intent". How do you prove intent, that's the issue. On this play, you can clearly see a "lowering of the head making contact with the crown of the helmet making contact to the "head, neck, or shoulders" of a player in act of being tackled (defenseless) thus warranting the call. You can watch it a million times and the hit meets the definition of the rule. Player safety on both sides of ball is what counts, and none of us can deny it, no matter what the cost!

Trevor played like he would every week if they were an SEC team - running for his life. They're good for a big fish in a little pond. Just like Ohio. But a schedule like LSU just came through - which is close to their usual - and you'd never see Clemson or OS in the playoffs again. LSU, Bama, Auburn Florida. Pick 2. My only problem with the changing the targeting call, how do you determine if it's intentional? If a player lowers his head and hits with the crown, is it not intentional? In this case, the call wasn't made on the field, it was made in the booth. Player safety is the goal, do you issue a warning if a player is not injured? Then coaches teach dives. Do you give a player a warning even if a player is injured? Potential "bounty gate"? I think player safety is paramount for both, you teach early and hopefully the lesson is carried to the next level.

Clemson is OVERRATED. Ohio State was robbed of a win against them in the Semi-Final and the SEC Referees were blatantly against Ohio State and keeping Clemson in the game. Very few of you were critical of Referees' criminal calls against Ohio State, now you are wailing about Clemson. The right team won the National Championship in this game, LSU. Shut up!

LSU lost an interception deep in Clemson territory due to a "Pass Interference" call... There was a second Pass Interference call against LSU that was a 3rd down stop that I did not agree with. Unfortuntately, that's part of the game.

That's not completely true. The whole uproar about everyone "not liking the rule" of ejection started with the Shaun Wade (Ohio State) ejection. Many of the pundits cried foul when Wade got ejected also.

There isn't a bad call here or an unlucky bounce there that would have changed the outcome. As far as the PI call on 3rd and long before the half, LSU went 3 and out in the 1st and 2nd possession after halftime. So, early in the 3rd, momentum was roughly 50/50, if not tilted toward Clemson. There were dozens of key moments in this game that decided it for LSU and really, it was a more dominant performance than the final score reflects. So even if Clemson gets a few calls and lucky bounces, the fact remains that their coin flip of a kicker uncharacteristically hit 50 yarder, LSU's reliable kicker had a rare miss on a chip-shot, and the surest hands in CFB dropped a routine pass in the end zone. Not to mention the final two possessions when Burrow and the Boys ran their 5 minute offense, aka "the Mercy Package".

But what about the targeting call against Ohio State's best defense player in the first round of the playoffs? Clemson's QB ducked into the players path! I don't even think it was targeting at all. The targeting hit by the Clemson defender on LSU was what the rule was originally made for "the defenseless receiver." That was a legitimate call if there ever was one! Ol' Macfaden's just pissed off that he bet on Clemson and even buying the extra point and a half. He lost his money! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha!

Unfortunately you can't make the call (which should have been made because he did lead with his helmet) without kicking him out of the game. Why this guy doesn't understand that is beyond me. The rule should be changed to the flagrant foul style in basketball. Both are 15 yard penalties, but a flagrant 2 kicks him out the game. The only reason that they were stopping LSU in the beginning of the game was because they kept punting the ball to the 1-5 yard line. The first 2 drives for LSU: (1) Started at the 7 (2) started from the 4... After this LSUs offense started getting first down and eventually couldn't be stopped.
