I love Woolworth, and wish they would bring it back. A store that had everything you need, at a good price.

I bought my first Christmas tree, 3 feet high, in about 1983. I had no ornaments, so I went into Woolworth's and bought a cellophane string of candy canes, and cut them apart. I miss Woolworth's. The closest thing we have to Woolworth's now is Daiso, the Japanese chain. Not because the merchandise is the same, but because the variety of items resembles that of Woolworth's, something in every category and for all age groups.

My parents and grandparents always called Woolworth's the Five & Dime...
@jackbuckley78163 жыл бұрын
One of the greatest-entrepreneurs in American History, Mr. Woolworth was. All little-Frankie ever wanted was to one-day clerk in a store like the one he knew as a boy. Dreams of owning his own chain of such stores was far-in-the-future but, you know what? Those dreams were achieved, his "five & dime" concept revolutionizing American-mercantilism in the process---and, golly, did we love those miraculous, marvelously-democratic stores he conceptualized & provided us!

I definitely recognized 2 or 3 items from my childhood. That vintage Christmas stuff can still be bought on the internet if you like that kind of retro nostalgia.

Thank you thank you and thank you again!!!! What a warm walk down memory lane. My eye really widened when I saw the doll house my mom and dad got me back in the early 1960's. There were other things as well and it all warmed my heart ❤ up! Thanks again.

Love this Woolworth remembrance. I sure have fond memories of shopping there for Christmas with the money I saved in my Christmas account at the bank. Thank you for sharing …..please go a little slower with the camera as it almost goes too fast to really focus on what is being presented. Please know this is not meant as a criticism…..it’s just that i am enjoying it so much that I want to take it all in. Best to you!

Woolworth, J.J. Newberry, Grants, McCrory’s, etc. were 5 &10 stores. All gone now and sadly missed. Now replaced with “Dollar” stores. Same concept. I don’t get it.

Question- is this stuff new, old stock or is it all replicated to make this store? It's really nostolgic!
