I just cleared my MRCEM, but I am currently working in Nigeria. Firstly, I need an advise on the job grade you would advise me to get into, since I aspire to join the DRE-EM pathway. I have 12 years clinical experience with 7 yrs in EM. Secondly, how possible is it to gather the competencies needed to enter the DRE-EM pathway as a doctor employed in a non-training post in EM. How can one sign off competencies in ICU, ACM, and anesthesia while working in EM department. Please kindly reply. Thanks.

Dear sir, I have few questions. Please reply me when you are convenient. As you are a current MTI (EM), can you have access to e-Portfolio to document your performance ? What is your rotation be like for instance all 24 months totally in ED or any rotation to other departments like ICU, Acute Med, and Anaesthesia. And finally do you think, the experience and training you will be achieving at the end of MTI could be helpful for applying DRE-EM pathway one day. I clearly aware that MTI candidates are expected to return to home country after completion. But one day, one may consider taking training in UK (EM) so please kindly let me know what is your thought on these questions? Thank you and have a blessed day.

Hello, Hope you are well. Ideally MTI candidates are stationed only in ED. We can get Peads ED competency signed. I know couple of guys who did locum works in AMU, ICU & we able to get their competency signed off & entrepreneurs DREEM. However there is no such program for foreign graduates to entre which will help them entering DREEM in future. Nothing is Impossible my friend.

@@UKDreamers Thank you so much for replying. I may have many questions in the future. Also, I would write to you if I could secure a MTI post and hope to able to have some chats when that day come. Also, I will be waiting for your new videos as they are really helpful for me. Take care.

I have completed my pmq and internship from India in 2014. There is no gap before internship or during internship. But after internship I prepared for entrance exams for 3 years . After that I did my post graduation in emergency medicine for 3 years . Now I also have completed my emergency medicine course in India and working in a hospital . In the meanwhile I have also completed my part 1 of the royal college exam for emergency medicine . I still have 2 more steps to complete . I am worried if after completing my royal college exams when I apply for GMC , at that time will my 3 years gap from 2014 -2017 be a problem and will it lead to rejection of my application ? . I am extremely worried because if I complete my royal college exams and then if GMC rejects my application it will be very heartbreaking .

Hi Dr.Mishra, ideally you should have a reason for the gap, in your case it was preparing for exams, I dont think that shouldn't bother with you getting a GMC. Just clear the exams & u will get to UK for sure. Good luck.

Highly competitive these days & not preferred as well. It's a different system here so it's better to experience it as a registrar job is very difficult without it.
