Tonight, we will learn about the perspective of land management and conservation from the federal perspective, specifically the United State Forest Service. The US Forest Service manages nearly 200 Million acres of land, including two national forests right here in New England, the Green Mountain National Forest and the White Mountain National Forest.
Tonight’s presentation will be given by Martina Barnes. Martine is a District Ranger on the Manchester Ranger District of the Green Mountain and Finger Lakes National Forest. She recently completed a detail as interim Chief of Staff to the Regional Forester for the Forest Service's Eastern Region. She previously served in the Forest Service's headquarters office as a Legislative Affairs specialist, working closely with members of Congress on the Agency's most pressing issues. Prior to that, she worked in the Forest Service's Intermountain Region as the Utah State Liaison and she's also held various roles in the State, Private and Tribal Forestry mission area of the US Forest Service. She has a bachelor's and master's degree in Urban and Regional Planning from Cornell University. She and her husband and two teenage children live in Manchester Center, Vermont.
