California Governor Gavin Newsom called in the National Guard to patrol the streets of Los Angeles after riots and looting spread across the city. Protesters and demonstrators took to the streets once again to protest the tragic passing of George Floyd. The protests ultimately lead to many businesses being ransacked in the process.

I live adjacent to the location of a few of these shots in the Historic Core. Many people left town, and a bunch of people moved out of my building in the weeks leading up to this date. I can attest that the scenes shot here consumed the minds of many of the people watching the destruction of their community. It wasn't until peace arrived that I was able to wind down, focus and contemplate on the bigger, noble nation-wide message. This comment is 2 weeks after this was shot, and the neighborhood is still a corral of plywood, with many small businesses still shuttered. As I type this message, Broadway currently has several window company trucks, installing new windows. These windows are not cheap, and many people don't have the proper insurance coverage to have this type of damage covered. It's definitely different when you see it from the ground, in your home neighborhood, and the damage occurs to minority-owned businesses you have supported on a daily basis for many years.

Never before in human history has this group of people had so many opportunities and freedom. It seems they want privilege. God bless the armed forces.
