Great video. I’m happy the new controller. But I can’t get my custom light theme to play when I use my smart plug to turn on the lights at night. Anyway to make sure my theme starts when the power comes on?

I have mine in a GFCI porch outlet and not my smart plug. I do have a smart plug for other lights though. For those, the lights come on with whatever I had them on prior to being turned off. One thing that has worked for me in the past, set the lights up on a schedule and see if the doesn't compel them to work correctly.

@@gavproductions Hmmm....let's try this: Go into the Smart Life app. Click on the white + sign in the blue circle on the top right of the phone's screen. From that drop-down menu, click on "Create Scene". Then click on "When Weather Changes". Then select "Sunset/Sunrise". Then click on the Sunset, and set that schedule. Then set a schedule for Sunrise. This should compel the lights to come on and off per a dawn-to-dusk command. You don't have to leave it on this setting but it is a good way to check to see how the light restarts itself without turning the power on/off.

That might be the ‘rub’. I do want to control the power to the lights. I ‘live’ inside the Apple Home world to control all of my automations.

When the power is supplied again to the light strip, it doesn’t go to my custom scene of red to green. It’s a red, green and blue theme. Not sure where this scene is coming from?

Installed new controller It want me to download the Tuya App? Can not get it to connect

I asked about that when I first got it. That's an error on the manufacturer's part. Smart Life and Tuya are owned by the same company, but Tuya does not control these lights. Just use the Smart Life app.

​@@gavproductions two things, one, is your phone on a 2.4Hz wi-fi? 2.4 is what you'll need to be hooked up to in order to get this going. When I get a product that doesn't connect easily, it's usually because I was outside for a long while. I will normally leave my phone inside the house for a bit and then try it again. This will usually allow my phone to grab ahold of the wi-fi's strong signal and allow me to pair it quickly. Secondly, when I am on a 2.4 and I've left the phone in the house for a bit and it STILL doesn't connect, I will oftentimes walk away, try it the next day and voila! It works. Sometimes, I think it's just an acclimation thing. Lastly, if all else fails, try using the remote to force pairing. This is done by holding down the remote's "On" button for 5 seconds. I've had great luck with that method. Let me know what works!
