@Elviloh Жыл бұрын
Indeed, but the clay would last a couple weeks, the plaster a couple centuries, while the marble will last for thousands of years. That is how we got our cultural heritage, how societies built things that would last, and amaze people so far away in time.
@izharfatima5295 Жыл бұрын
@@Elviloh No. You are wrong. It is not the urge to be known to the times unseen which makes humans to choose , it is their fear.
@andremetayer1467 Жыл бұрын
@@Elviloh That's absolutly right : the marble can resist at the centurys and more. But, I never said another thing. I just say that, for me, not for everybody, the steps are art. You see ? Not an invest made by interest because of the longevity of my buying... Just for the beauty. The finess of the lines, the curves, the grain of the material. You're probably right. I'm a poet... And, you know probably that in certain archaeological dig sites, sometimes, some clays figurines are founded, even if they are a little bit or more broken, and all the personns who work on this dig site exult... Maybe they are poets too... I'm happy. You gave me the opportunity to attempt to defend a point of view in english. But please, be cool with me, that's not my native language !

The fact that he had to repeat the process THRICE and with three different techniques! He first sculpted it with clay using the additive method, then make a cast with plaster of paris, and then sculpt the same out of a marble slab using the subtractive method. This is the real deal! Thank you for sharing. Most people have no idea of the time and skill that goes into Mold Making and Subtractive Stone Carving. Sadly, both casting in plaster and using a point method to enlarge/transfer to stone is becoming a lost art. More exhibits and videos like this, please!

Excuse my ignorance. Why is it necessary to make a plaster mold? Couldn't the artist use the clay as a model for preparing the marble version?

For days on end a person works in complete silence, passionate about his work. What different professions, some come into contact with people all day long. And someone can be so immersed in the process of recreating masterpieces that thy don't even notice how the time of day changes outside the workshop windows. What painstaking work! How much patience and love this master has for his creations! It is clear that the man has been doing this all his life! This can't help but amaze!
