A few years ago a KZbin called Killaz was lucky enough to interview Jamie King and Diego Angel and another called The Back Yourself Show got the chance to interview Gary Foreman all of whom gave insight into Rockstar. It makes me wish someone would track down Terry Donovan because out of all the Rockstar founders and executives he's the most reclusive. I don't think theres a single video interview of him out there and if there is then it's either buried so deep in KZbin or lost media. It would be so awesome because he was the Houser brothers best friend and a top executive so he would know all sorts.

17:40 “DR DR F” may be a reference to the UK radio DJ from the 90’s and 2000’s called ‘Dr. Fox’. Back then he hosted a popular radio show playing the top 40 chart singles every weekend. Although DMA/RockStar North are based in Scotland the London based radio station the chart segment were aired on were broadcast UK wide. The jingles used for ‘Dr. Fox’ used a segment from Robert Palmers ‘Bad Case of Loving you’ interrupted by an obnoxious American voice saying “FOX”. So, the jingle would sound like “Doctor, doctor FOX”. It’s a bit of a stretch but he was still on the air and TV by the time GTA SA came out. Speaking of S.A. though, Fox was arrested in 2014 while on the premesis of the radio broadcaster he was working for. You’d have to ask a RockStar dev from the UK if Neil (Dr. Fox) Fox was involved in the games like Laslow was, for all I know he may be in the credits since he was a comedian too not to mention they used a IRL UK radio DJ Giles Peterson further down the line in GTA V. It might have been a chart show radio station with Dr. Fox and it was cut for whatever reason. They had chart show bits with Head Radio in previous games GTA 1 and GTA 3, but this is all speculation.

Fun fact in 2004 RenderWare was bought by EA, the problem is Rockstar uses this Engine to make their games, Rockstar probably hated that EA was buying RenderWare and decided to make their "EA Sucks" statement.

Taking over territories seems to be the only thing or mission in the game that delays girlfriend's phone calls, at least for me. While taking over a territory, I never got the bar decrease at 15:28 as the game seems to delay the phone call until you are available. And then at the exact frame you take over the territory, the phone call comes through and they ask you on a date. Weird how it only works correctly here.

Maybe because the taking over territories happens in real time in game instead of being activated by some type of trigger thus maybe having a seperate flag that just takes every single phone call that comes in and delays it while other missions likely don't have this since phone calls get blocked via their own code because it's a mission.

He was very wrong about Alcatraz. PR rep wouldnt know much about indev details especially something specific that was cut early. Alcatraz was planned byt was scrapped. Also no every single location had to be scouted on a trip to be in the game. Big chunk of landmarks and areas were just done from existing footage reference especially area 51 which was impossible to scout in person in 2003.

Alcatraz part is outright wrong. It just came after they dropped the idea. Artist reponsible for the map did draw it earlier when it was planned before they dropped it. Late development interview is not disproving the plans but proving they dropped the idea and it didnt go too far. Not efveyrone in the team will know of things that were cut early on. Especially if it was probably only conceptualized or done by Map artist/designers themselves.

He also talked about trip list for scouting and news flash, not every location in game was scouted for, not even remotely. Scouting was mostly for smaller landmarks and streets and general feel and texture hunting. Alcatraz doesnt need a trip to get reference for. They were not in Area 51 either as it was not possible to visit it at the time, and that location is in the game. If this was interview with art lead or map designer then he would have said something more concrete than PR guy just getting out of something he didnt now, and what was most likely already dropped. If it wasnt planned theb there would be no sign of it on early maps used in world textures and those are earliest we have and that were made during furnishing of the map.

One bigfoot hunt video I saw as a kid had some cool finds in it, which is why i still would rewatch old ones now. One kid was sitting around for hours waiting foe something to happen when he heard a loud screeching noise. A quadbike spawns somwhere mear mount chilliads forests and screeches downhill. There's probably hundreds of fucked up spawn that we just don't know about.

the photo op mission has some variables for camera pos and "look at" coords that are labelled as being for a heli; would be nice to visualise them somehow, I don't have enough experience to do this myself but I'd like to learn where to start and what to do. I'm sorry if you know this already Has no idea about the tornado originally being a rocket-plane, but it makes sense given its name; a tornado 'flies' and a plane also flies, a car doesn't normally fly Really cool that you have the chance to talk to one of the devs ^^
