Soto is having an amazing year no doubt. But the trade we made for him got us Higgy, Cease, King, Brito, and Vasquez. I can almost guarantee the combined WAR for those 5 guys is going to be higher than Sotos at the end of the year. And don’t forget the combined payroll for those 5 guys is a fraction of what Soto is getting paid this year. Plus we got all 5 of these guys for multiple seasons where Soto goes on the market after this year. I’d say we got the better end of that deal hands down.

This was another exciting series and I can't wait for these teams to play later this summer as they both are chasing wildcard spots. Cease was doing Cease things today on the bump with 9 Ks. Every game in this series went over the total and 42 runs were scored with average scoring being SD 8 Wash 6. Hard to believe they were racking up runs when every game total was set at 7.5. Just a crazy series in general with some drama. have the Nats finally come back down to earth getting swept? Will they get back to the .500 mark at all this season?

*bullpen. Has nothing to do with Suarez and your comment just proves you've not been follwing the padres this year. Move on.
@CdGrifter5 ай бұрын
The Padres have the best closer in the league. But obviously with an 8 run lead that late into the game, they are gonna use their worst bullpen arms and save their better arms like Suraez and Estrada
@markkillset52055 ай бұрын
@@CdGrifter cant do that....Closers dont throw that many pitches and they need to be ready every game if available. No need to save a closers arm. Trevor Hoffman was one of the best closers in the history of the game and he was always out there closing a game. Padres have given up many leads and costing games doing exactly what they did this game. Again, "5 runs in one inning". That says everything.

David Morales Money Move Summary: Nationals vs. Padres Game Highlights (6/26/24) In the thrilling matchup between the Washington Nationals and the San Diego Padres on June 26, 2024, several key "money moves" defined the game’s outcome. These decisive actions and strategies exemplified high-impact plays that influenced the final result. Top Money Moves: Tatis Jr.'s Game-Changing Home Run: Money Move: Fernando Tatis Jr. blasted a three-run homer in the third inning. Impact: This powerful hit broke a tie game and gave the Padres a significant lead. Tatis Jr.'s ability to deliver in high-leverage situations exemplifies his value as a clutch player. Dominant Pitching by Blake Snell: Money Move: Blake Snell's dominant performance on the mound, striking out 12 batters over seven innings. Impact: Snell's pitching kept the Nationals' hitters off balance and prevented them from mounting any significant offensive threat. His command and control were pivotal in maintaining the Padres’ lead. Nationals' Defensive Plays: Money Move: A series of impressive defensive plays by the Nationals, including a spectacular diving catch by Victor Robles. Impact: These defensive efforts kept the game within reach for the Nationals, preventing the Padres from extending their lead further. Robles' catch, in particular, was a momentum-shifter that energized his team. Padres' Bullpen Efficiency: Money Move: The Padres' bullpen effectively closing out the game, with Josh Hader securing the save. Impact: The bullpen’s ability to maintain the lead and shut down the Nationals’ offense in the late innings was crucial. Hader’s save underscored the reliability and strength of the Padres' relief pitching. Nationals’ Late-Inning Rally: Money Move: A late-inning rally by the Nationals, highlighted by a two-run double from Juan Soto. Impact: Although the Nationals fell short, Soto's double brought excitement and tension to the final innings. This rally demonstrated the Nationals' resilience and ability to fight back, keeping the Padres on edge until the end. The Nationals vs. Padres game on June 26, 2024, was marked by these "money moves" - key plays and strategies that showcased the talents and decision-making of both teams. The Padres ultimately emerged victorious, thanks to their timely hitting, dominant pitching, and effective bullpen management.
