This was very interesting. I was at a tailoring supply store here in Bangladesh a few days ago, and I learned a lot about interfacings from a tailor who came into the shop. As he ordered each thing, I asked, “what do you use that for?” And he explained that this one was for the collar, this one was for the waistband, etc. and they had a special material that they used just for pockets as well. I learned a lot just as I waited there for my thread order to be completed.

Wow, thank you for saying interfacing should be preshrunk as well. I had no idea! You are the first person out of at least 100 with whom I've spoken about sewing that so much as suggested that could be done!

Thank you so much! I had heard people say they used silk organza to stabilize their silk garments. But I did not know how this is done and am beginning a blouse project with a long tie collar that could probably use that kind of stabilizer. Great tutorial!

Is there a part in the video where the difference between interfacing and stabilizer is explained? I did several skip throughs and it seems to be only about interfacing. Did I miss it?

The title of this video is very misleading. I still don't know the difference between interfacing and stabalizer. Which I really feel like I need to know at this point in my sewing education. I learned things...just not what I needed to learn.

I'm not getting any benefits from this. If you were to show exactly how the interface is helpful to giving the garment a professional, finished look.
