I love six eight time. if you try to play 4/4 time to it , it kind of sticks out. See the Guitar player. 6/8 has a great swing. Play that swing boys. And Girls .The bass too plays 4/4 in his solo. Learn a solo in 6/8 time. It will be BETTER. i know that 6/8 time can be played in two (123,456) (One two) And since 2 divides into 4--4/4 is in great shape?. Not so much. just play a 4/4 song if that's all you got. 6/8 has an ultra cool groove. I hope everyone in the world finds it. the world would be a better place. The body is more associated with the sine wave. 3/4 time. Six eight time rules the world when it's right. Can you stick a Two or a four evenly in 3? i didn't think so. the 134571 pentaton of the relative minor of the major key you are in, is a 6 note blues pentaton or scale. Six bad ass notes (All the others are only passing tones.) Put together a couple octaves if that and you'll sound like Elvis or James Brown or a hudred others that learned this or aproximations of this. 1 3 4 5 7 1 your internals in the relative minor. And Six or 2 notes a measure( Played in 6 or 2) You are in there. that actually fits math wise.

Can someone tell the violonist he should take a breath ? definitely too much notes. Very good technic 'he knows how to prove it), but no solo construction, no feeling, no melody. He is "high" from the beginning. Please, take your time, it would be so nice with your marvelous sound. In this track, you waste it. What a pity.

so these guys know a whole ton of scales, and play them pristinely. So WHAT? There's no music here. No harmony . No voice leading , no counterpoint. No nothing. Just scales. Do the world of jazz a favor. Don't call this song " Footprints" Y'all should listen to the original, a la Miles, or Wayne, and REALLY feel the music. Y'all have the talent to play it. Just don't take the easy way out and play scale upon scale upon scale and then throw in a BB King lick (???what the f? BB King in a Wayne Shorter number?) and think that's "music". the violinist is ok tho.

I agree to some point. The keyboard player was ok for my taste. I think the guitar guy is a rock player. I missed target notes and a little bit of arpeggios in his solo. I don't agree totaly with your point because the modal music was introduced on jazz to avoid the chord oriented solos from bebop era. Voice leading are applied more on tonal songs with more chords and cadences derived from II-V-I. This os not the case of this particular modal song, that has only 4 chords and to many mensures for the main two chords (static Dorian chords almost the entre song). I missed target notes and a sense of direction of the guitar guy.
