Maybe the living jars only became living after Marika removed death from the world. If remains were stored in pots prior to this, then maybe once death was removed, pots filled with the remains of long dead people became reanimated…not just as bones, but the pot acting as a skin of sorts.

Great question hagstik! I don't really have a great answer for that other than I myself finding it a good length for me to both create and watch. Of course I am always willing to break these boundaries (like the Real History LA Noire video being an hour long). I am flirting with the idea of doing a Dark Souls Trilogy iceberg, which will basically be a remaster of my previous 3 dark souls icebergs + some extra content, so that will definitely break the 40 minute boundary, and the plan will be to combine all of my Elden Ring content into one massive iceberg years down the track - so hopefully some longer than 40 minute videos will be around the channel soon :)

Part 2! Awesome! The idea of the elden ring runes representing and being inspired by alchemy is so cool! It also fits with the idea of the Golden order, both in the name, and in the idea of purifying something unpure (the lands between) and making it exactly the way you want it. You could also consider that Ranni, who opposes the golden order, is associated with moon magic. And lunar light is quite often described as or associated with 'silver'. I think that's a really cool oppositional idea.

It seems to me that the scarabs collect scattered souls left behind by dead warriors from the shattering, and take them to erdtrees to be reborn. The incantation scarab states "As a scarab approaches death, it abandons its rolled treasure and stretches its wings wide for long journey to its home nest." You've already noticed the scarabs are a symbol of rebirth, and information learned from the Dung Eater's quest shows us that he corrupts this same "soul" essence.

The Crucible could refer to the original astral space that once existed, from which the Greater Will is from, but also to which the Frenzied Flame wishes to return all too. This would explain them being banished, since their arts could be a form of the Frenzied Flame incantations.
@michaelbarker6732

i think the crucible was more like the elden ring of the previous civilization. it has a symbol that looks very similar to the symbol of the elden ring, just more complete you could say? The previous civilization also had an Elden Lord(placidusax) as for who the God was I am not sure, maybe there was no exact equivalent of the Greater Will or perhaps their god was also the Greater Will. The Erdtree was grafted onto the Great Tree at some point which is when the Golden Order started to take over it seems. Simce the symbol for the Elden Ring is basically a small part of the symbol of the Crucible I think the Crucible was just like the Elden Ring, a big old rune that was hidden inside the Great Tree and gave power to the world or whatever. Once the Golden Order took over and replaced the Great Tree the crucible probly just decayed into the Elden Ring?

Regarding the Albinaurics: There's probably not meant to be a connection, but there's a material known as electrum, possibly created (and certainly known to be used) by the ancient Egyptians. It's an alloy made of gold and silver. Just thought I'd bring that up. Again, probably not connected, but it's at least interesting to think about.

Regarding the Jars: In ancient times, it was believed that consuming something powerful would cause you to absorb that power; eating, say, a lion's heart would result in having a lion's courage. This is why some ancient races used to engage in cannibalism: To absorb the power of their fallen enemies. Which, in a sense, is very much how food-consumption works: We eat, for example, some chicken (my apologies to all vegetarians and vegans, but this is the best analogy out there); and the protein therein builds up muscle mass, and keeps our hair and nails (basically, our fur and claws) strong.

11:55 "this scroll detailed a shortcut method of converting lead to gold". A comment from this video made me revisit the item description for the Dark Moon Ring (which you give to Ranni to complete her quest). I stumbled upon an unexpected word that brought me back here. "Ring depicting a LEADEN full moon. Symbolic of a cold oath, the ring is supposed to be given by Lunar Princess Ranni to her consort." Don't know what to do with that connection. The marriage became an allegory of the method of converting of converting the lead to gold? Brain hurts

Wait... None of the stuff you said as counter-argument regarding Melina killing Vyke's original maiden actually excludes her. If anything it's possibly supporting the theory. Picture this: Vyke starts his journey with his maiden. Somewhere along the adventure they get separated, and by the time Vyke finds her, she's dead. Then conveniently, Melina approaches Vyke and offers to be a replacement, and they resume the quest together. Then Vyke gets contacted by Shabriri, and informed that the path they are taking will result with Melina's sacrifice. Vyke, still traumatized by the loss of his original maiden, seeks audience with the three fingers. Melina, expresses her dissatisfaction with this choice, so Vyke tries to compromise - insisting on receiving the frenzied flame, while fully dressed in hopes of still inheriting the power, while minimizing the effect on his mind. Melina abbandons him, and since Vyke perceived this as an attempt to save her life, goes mad, and eventually gets locked up. Melina then figures that she made two mistakes: 1 - she allowed Vyke to grow too attached (which can explain why she only speaks to the player ocasionally - nudging us along the quest, but keeping distance otherwise) and 2 - she allowed Vyke to get attached to his maiden, which in turn could support the "Melina killed our original maiden" theory. This time, she kills the maiden before the tarnished gets to meet her, but that means she is taking a gamble, as she does not yet know if the tarnished she is targeting will prove powerful enough to reach the Erdtree.

About the puppets, they only have that shimmer and hue cuz we summon them much like Spirit Summons. If you go through Seluvis' and Sellen's questline puppets turn on Pidia without the shimmer and hue and when looking for another body for Sellen we find Seluvis' puppet stash and none of them have the shimmer and hue as like I said they just have that cuz we summon them like Spirit Summons so Ensha really could be be Gideon's puppet in fact he likely is as it's all but confirmed that Gideon and Seluvis used to be somewhat close before Delores got turned into a puppet meaning Gideon likely could've had loads of puppets if he so wished and he seems intimately knowledgeable about Seluvis' potion since he's not surprised about it in the least.

@Sitri115
@Sitri115 2 жыл бұрын
@@darkhobo That's heavily debatable. With Rennala we're not sure what's up as she's stated to have been heartbroken which caused her to withdraw herself into the study then eventually get locked in there by the Sorcerers of the Academy when they rebelled against the Carian Royals, where she kept the Amber Egg given to her by Radagon with her yet she seems to be endlessly rebirthing things that resemble her like a machine not to mention she does defend and attack to some extent in Phase 1 unlike most puppets until Seluvis is killed which then we see Pidia's puppets go berserk but nothing happens to Rennala at all regardless of what happens in any questlines. She COULD be a puppet as she seems almost comatose like one however I really doubt that as puppets don't even move or speak without orders most of the time contrary to Rennala who does both even if only a little, plus she has Ranni's protection to some extent too as even Sellen didn't dare to harm Rennala at the end of her questline. Rennala is likely not a puppet and is literally just heartbroken and waiting for either Radagon to come back or for herself to die after we fight her.

The image at the bottom of the Ripley scroll is the fool. The idiot. Which makes sense because the fool was a figure that when translated to mysticism, is the archetype of infinite possibilities. The fool archetype is referred to having all the knowledge of the universe. He speaks the truth but it is often considered the ravings of a mad man. The fool is often referred to as the idiot god or mad god. When you look deep into older mythologies, he is often referred to as one of two in one. I have come to know them as the faceless mother and the mad father. Or a better way to describe them, the chaos mother and the void father. But the funniest way is to say it in German, The dunkel Vater.

For some reason I think frenzy when I see the crucible description. Then again they seem like a sort of dragon incarnation as well. Kind of out of place if you ask me. As far as Ranni goes.... I believe her great rune is the rune of the unborn. The gift Radagon left Rennala was actually her daughter and when she offed herself the only thing that was left was the great rune. To this day she clutches it close, trying to rebirth Ranni.....but only ending up with failed clones of herself. Rannis spirit is absent after all. Even after the fight with Rennala, she seems to respond to Ranni, and even discontinues her cloning. Instead dedicating herself to rebirthing you.

I perceive the ''Lands between'' to be exactly that, the world / purgatory between a certain fantasy world/universe and its afterlife. Every aspect of the lands between consist of pain, grief, turmoil ,suffering or sad desperation. All the beings in the Lands Between are sent there after death in the real realm ,to either suffer in this purgatory or to rule over/maintain the Lands Between (as a ''god, demigod or Elden lord.). Endless rebirth into a hellscape until the correct criteria is met for the being to pass on to the afterlife, heaven or hell. The Twin Bird is the representation of this. The black death bird transports them to hell or the Red Death bird transports them to ‘’heaven’’. Even with the (Tibia Marriner) ferryman of Greek mythology seen across the Lands Between , one can see that the Lands Between is the transition stage between life (in this fantasy universe) and the afterlife of this fantasy universe. The Greatsword ‘’Helphens Steeple'’ dropped by a Tibia Marriner, is in the form of a Christian Church steeple, these Churches with their elevated steeples in Medieval Europe acted as gigantic map markers for all, showing you the way to civilisation,to Life , to the Light , showing that within this building, you will find the way to heaven , to true life. And of course the way to reach God Three in One, to sit by His side within Heaven ,in the Afterlife. Mikela and the assimilated prophecy of salvation and the mercy towards the albinorics (the experiments of life / the downtrodden and oppressed / humans) and all whom would reject the evils of this purgatory might just find salvation and the ‘’Promised land ‘’ ..to get to ascend to Heaven. Melania represents the Medieval Christian knights whom fight to protect the ethos of mercy and salvation of Chritendom , most skilled warriors ..but whom are sadly, just like all people , infected by the rot of sin and whose only salvation is through the One whom they fight for. We even have the Valkyries of Norse mythology , Melania + her daughters whose sole purpose it is ,to identify great warriors that HAS FALLEN IN BATTLE and to carry them to the afterlife of this fantasy universe. No where in the ‘’Lands Between’’ do we find any food nor houses, nor any buildings/infrastructure required to sustain actual life, instead we only find catacombs, thousands upon thousands of graves and gargantuan administrative buildings .. housing only figures of power / institutes of magical learning / temples. (Means to / knowledge of how to leave purgatory..or to rule it) Prator Rykard, a symbol of Egyptian Mythology ,the serpent god Apophis , demon of chaos, who had the form of a serpent and was the foe of the sun god, Re (Foe of the current order) Apopis threatened the underworld….the lands between. The serpent devouring itself , a symbol of constant destruction and renewal… The entire realm of the ‘’Lands between’’ is a realm which depicts the transition/deliverance of the ones whom have died, to the afterlife Christian/Greek/Norse/Egyptian/Japanese kegare, thus the ‘’Lands Between’’ is the realm of transitioning from the world of a certain fantasy universe and its afterlife via purgatory. The Thrones of the NOX ‘’Night king’’ = king of darkness. These gigantic skeletons are like eldridge beings, ruling over the Eternal cities , as they sit there, they are undead, dormant, until a suitable amount of lost souls are brought in front of them. Upon which they wake and devour the essence of all the tormented peoples in front of them, sending the devoured to hell. Thus all the beings in front of them are left petrified, left in their state of anguish, screaming in torment and pain and fear , in doing so the eldridge lords gain power to rule further. The ferryman of Greek mythology seen across the Lands Between are of his kin, his servants whom serve the same purpose , to either lead the damned in purgatory to the afterlife , or to lead them to the Night king… Apart from Rani's ending, I think the perfect Ending would be to have GoldMask rule as Elden Lord over the purgatory that is The Lands Between and to have the Jars as his servants/followers. To help all those in the Lands between to find their way to the afterlife. Alexander and all the warrior souls within, rightfully only enter into the afterlife after falling to you in single combat.

I think the living jars might be epersted from their previous cause. Because the crest on their lid looks nore like the great tree than the erdtree. Perhaps they were once a fundamental part of the cycle of death. Deathbird lores mentions a orevious era where they used ghostflame to burn the remains and give a proper death. Perhaps with thst ritual now redundant, maybe the pots started going to the trees and maybe eventually started to find their own purposes. Theres nothing ive seen that cknnects the jars to ghostflame so maybe thats the wrong era as well, but i bekieve they mustve been involved in a orevious ritual involving the cycle of life and death, and id imagine theyre now dispossessed, hence why theyre now roaming around, or fighting in defense of random different masters. Or in Alexander's case, just carving out their own destiny. Jsut a thought
