Watching from the Lehigh Valley in Pennsylvania. My parents families came to the United States during the famine. While first traveling to Ireland in the late 1970’s I noticed a fair amount of anti-Apartheid graffiti throughout the country. The Irish considered themselves kindred spirits to South African blacks because of their awful treatment at the hands of the English. The Choctaw are of the same line in that they felt a similar connection to the Irish people during their darkest days. It further speaks to the kindness and generosity of the Choctaw nation that they were able to be so generous when they were also suffering at the hands of the US Government.

I've actually been travelling in ireland while this video was posted. It's still very actively talked to and mentioned how much the generosity mattered. Even more so considering that they gathered millions to return the favor during covid. The Irish understand how it is to have nothing, and to be pushed to the brink by an outside power.

A group of people in extreme poverty clawed together $5000 in 2024 value, to send to a people 4000 miles away, they had never seen, simply because they understood that people were even worse off.

This Irish never forgot this sentiment either. To this day they still talk about and applaud the generosity of the Choctaw
