They sound absolutely fantastic. I'm more interested in writing for string quartets than string sections and the controls here seem so easy to use. I'm very, very impressed.

Native Instruments AU’s truly are among the best in the industry. The sound quality, level of detail and usability in the mix are second to none. They get a lot of slack on business decisions, but don’r let that get in the way of your understanding of the quality of the products they create.

Thanks for the demonstration. Just purchased this and I'm very impressed with the controls; a marked improvement over Session Strings Pro 2. I'm pleased to see that the latest version has expanded the number of articulation slots from 8 to 32 (crazy). This does, however, present some challenges. I'm wondering if you could share some additional insights. 1. I noticed you used quite a few instances of the plugin in your arrangement. How did you instantiate them? Did you load them individually via Komplete Kontrol? Or did you group them in one instance of Kontakt? Any thoughts on either approach and the relative impact on resources? 2. I'm interested in creating a stack so I can play them in unison, but I'm running into some trouble with the keyswitch assignments cancelling each other. There doesn't seem to be an easy way to batch offset the note values of individual articulation slots. And now, with the addition of 24 new articulations slots, all which default to C2, it's tedious as hell to reassign them one by one for multiple instances of the plugin. Any thoughts?

Thanks for the video! How is the backbowing in this library? Does it come in too soon on the sustained notes? This was a very big problem with spitfire solo strings for example. Thanks

I like the Cremona quartet - I bought the Stad violin when it came out and I found it quite playable out of the box, so I upgraded to the quartet when it became available. I'm not a string player, but it helps to imagine how a violinist or other string player uses the bow. It is easy to re-map the keyswitches - necessary because the Cello runs off the bottom of my 88-note keyboard. If C is the Virtuoso setting, I find it helpful to map C# adjacent to rebow .

Hey Mike. A friend of mine from Slovakia was telling me two nights ago that she was heading back to her hometown of Komarno for Christmas. She was concerned that because of the recent Covid measures, she might not make it onto "Last train to Komarno" before lockdown tightens. We joked that it would make a nice title for a song. What do you think? I was going to use the title myself... but you are welcome to it.

"How's It Tangoing?" Is my title for that very nice composition. Got a lot out of the video. However, I'm still not sure how this will sound in fast passages where I find a lot of the sampled strings poor.
@jameseverett49763 жыл бұрын
For fast stuff you might want to consider performance sampling stuff. It's made for fast & aggressive playing. They sample from live performance playing at normal speed, not sample note playing.

Not sure if all the fanboys of this library are hearing something I don't hear, or simply haven't heard enough alternative libraries, but it sounds a bit dull and lifeless to me... Embertone and Chris Hein both have solo libraries with a much more attractive sound, and 8Dio's most recent deep solo instruments not only sounds great, but have WAY more articulations and even a few extra slots for them -- something a lot of other users have complained about in regards to the Cremona Quartet. I tend to get some hateful responses whenever I mention that though, so... Whatever, to each their own.
@jameseverett49763 жыл бұрын
That's good to know, though. I was debating about buying this...don't really want to buy more libs to pile on my already full HDs to end up disappointed with. And I have 8dio's solos, but haven't tried them out much due to so many arts sounding identical to me....and not being a string player I don't know which ones to use - they use classical names for the arts so I have no idea what I'm looking at on the menus. I need to invest hours of my very limited free time trying out each articulation to find out what it does, instead of the familiar "legato" "sustain" "pizz" "svorzando" etc.
@Nicoladen13 жыл бұрын
Hello, I've read alot of reviews online and browsed a bunch of forums and I've heard a ton of criticism about the sound of these instruments. At first I was very intrigued by the quartet, but after hearing from so many people that they did not like it and/or even uninstalled it because it wasn't as good as its being portrayed had me worried. Do you still use it and what are your thoughts on the quartet now? I'd love to get an honest answer!
@jameseverett49763 жыл бұрын
I've noticed after buying alot of stuff [after listening to reviews] that everything sounds great AND is touted as great in reviews & demos, but can sound quite different when I play it on my own computer. Also they never tell you about interface bugs that eat up the limited music time those of us who have to work day jobs are stuck with. I'm finding that the only reason I keep buying more libraries is because the one's I bought thinking they would be my go-to's turned out to be disappointing for various reasons, either don't sound much like the demos or have bugs that make them not worth fussing with. I guess everyone has different ears, is what I'm trying to say. To me most libraries sound pretty much the same - or acceptable - in the high and very low ends, and on most articulations other than bowed. i.e staccatos all sound ok - acceptable in nearly all libraries of late, but it's only the mid-range slower bowed arts that have the most variation & realism or lack of between libraries.
@Nicoladen13 жыл бұрын
@@jameseverett4976 Thanks a bunch for sharing! I did end up getting the quartet and I'm more than happy to have it in my arsenal. The violin does sound a bit metallic and almost piercing but the overall playability and sound of the other instruments has definitely made me very very happy. After all, it's not the tool that makes the artwork, it's the artist and his skill that does most of the heavy lifting.
