With Maschine 3 update it’s perfect now that we can Pin vsti’s that was the biggest workflow killer for a lot of people who really understand how to use Maschine. The workflow just makes sense to me. I love how fast you can write music, hit a button for pattern changes and whole scenes (sections of a song). I also have the MPC 61 and hate the workflow and touchscreen is trash. It’s crazy my damn near 30 year old Korg Triton Studio had a way better touchscreen that didn’t frustrate the user. The menu diving on the MPC is a buzz kill for me and uninspiring. THE MPC is nothing but an iPad with buttons and keys. Real users of MK3 never miss a touchscreen period.Just looking at my MK3 and the software makes me want to jam out. If NI comes out with another standalone I will definitely buy it if the converters are good and it has a way to send audio to hardware and return inputs this would put them back on top of the groove box game. Along with more outputs.

Yes I'm glad for that to where I can have a rack like appearance to see everything I'm using and make changes on the fly instead of reopening every time it disappears. Pretty much what the iMPC app is on the iPad which has been out for aeons, that's all they did with their new devices that are out now. We definitely don't need touchscreen on any devices, but they do need to bring back their iPad app though and do it how apple did Logic Pro on the iPad

@ I wish NI would do like Studio One did by creating an app for IPad that mirrors the DAWs mixer and controls key functions to control the DAW from the iPad. If the new Maschine+ had a way to mount an IPad that mirrors the Maschine that could be the solution for the people who want the touchscreen workflow. The Studio One on iPad you can move the faders in the DAW via touchscreen flawlessly in real time. Studio One is the truth and the future of DAWs.

I still think they should have Upgraded the Maschine Studio to be Standalone first....because they could have put in a slot for adding an additional drive for holding the Play Series, Expansions, and third party compliant plugins...whether the be an instrument or an effect. along with the ability to upgrade ram memory or allow them to come with 16Gig Ram off the gate....

Hey Bolo - great job talking this through. Personally I’m an MPC user and even more-so a Force user. I am happy to see that NI is not abandoning their hardware users. I mean regardless of which platform we prefer, these are just tools - but we as users plunk down our hard earned cash and in this age of software updates (not like it used to be, you got what you got) it is the responsibility of companies like AKAI and NI to support their users and I’m happy to see both companies step up!

For how I use machine Mikro I’m not upgrading to three and will wait to see if they actually follow through and add some solid features for Maschine. I use maschine purely as a sketch tool and then import loops into Ableton for further production and mastering. Maschine isn’t a full fledged daw as far as I’m concerned and would rather work in the Ableton environment. I found it’s a good way to work for me in focus mode because Maschine has a more limited toolset and I don’t run into paralysis due to too many ways to start.

The only thing I can think of that would help me is if NI made an iPad app that would mirror the piano roll, sampler so you could tap the screen to program your drums and chop samples. None of that is possible with the form factor as is though and NI not changing it.

I've been trying to include the Maschine Plugin instance (only got the MK3 Mikro though) in Studio One workflow lately and I think it still holds potential, as the routing in S1 is pretty flexible. So yeah, let's wait and see. I also like that you can browse Pigments and V Collection inside Maschine and Komplete Kontrol, so although they take their stuff to 3rd parties like Akai they also bring 3rd party stuff in (Arturia). I see some continuity looking at it that way.

Im not a Maschine user but I have Komplete. I think it would satisfy everyone if they kept playing the long game and came out with SOLID software updates first and then come out with a new Maschine 4/Plus. If they are going to port Kontakt 8 over to be used in standalone with Play series & some other sounds that’s a HUGE undertaking. That deserves slow, methodical development with lots of testing. Kontakt is still king of the samplers in the software domain after 20 years. Getting most of it’s abilities with what is already available in standalone in 2026 or even 2027 would make them the king of hardware as well… if done CORRECTLY. Give em some time.

Imo, NI chose the wrong architecture even worst they chose Intel over AMD. NI should drop a new unit with touchscreens, internal battery, 8 gigs of ram or an option to upgrade the ram yourself, USB 3 and USB-C ports, and upgradeable storage. Alternatively they should make a Maschine Kontrol keyboard in 37 and 61 keys variants with all the features mentioned above and of course 16 pads. And for crying out loud use a more beefed up SOC.

I don't think any update will matter to anyone (significantly) until that update is that they are updating the software to be more like an actual DAW, where you can properly arrange your song and have a proper timeline. Patterns and scenes just aren't it. I mean, they are great for what they are, but like many others having to stop what Im doing or constantly be thinking about how I need to build my beat out in Maschine in order to move it over to a DAW to actually finish it is absolutely a creative killer. Shit, even something as simple as having a secondary window where I can see my mixer would be great. I love my Maschine mk3...but the workflow is shit.

I was interested in your take on the MPC NI instruments, you said would be discussed at the end of the video. The Maschine+ collects dust at the moment. I have been having so much fun with the MPC Live 2 and Akai Force combo, using them together has been alot of fun. The lack of touch on the Maschine makes it a hard sell for me to want to use anymore. Learning / relearning button shortcuts, like, I fired the Maschine+ up and updated the firmware and turned it off after 5 minutes. Akai has the hardware, NI has the software, dont reinvent the wheel, just push content to the MPC. Honestly, if you have the Akai Force / MPC device and a Maschine+, there is absolutely no question, you are using the Akai devices. Akai has been updating their MPC line. Now, we just need Akai to start calling the Force an MPC Force and updating the Force inline with their MPC devices. Start treating the Force like it is an MPC, updates for the MPC line of products should include Force updates at the same time. Im not buying a Maschine++ if one should be made unless some drastic changes happen. Touchscreen is a must. Support for Kontakt instruments directly on the unit is a must. An alternative tier of the Komplete program is a must. I might be interested in purchasing a variant of Komplete that contains the content specific to the standalone unit, but Im not interested in paying $2000 for a bunch of plugins I wont ever be able to use in standalone. I might however pay $500 for the "Komplete expansions", to have all of them available on my Maschine+ / ++ would be nice, thats really what Im interested in. Im not averse to using a DAW and a PC, but, I find the standalone setup works for me, mostly because I find myself far less distracted, even within the ecosystem of music creation. On the PC, I find myself browsing thru thousands of plugins, oh, I bought this years ago and never used it, lets check it out, kind of distractions, or, I want to do x but now I have to find a plugin to do x. The standalone units have a much more narrow selection that give me what I need. Arguably, I probably need to uninstall plugins, but that is a convo for another day hahaha.

Yes you can but you have to bounce the audio. In MPC you can wrap the individual chops without having to bounce the audio

I came across the information yesterday. I definitely do not see a need for NI to release new hardware, including a new Maschine +... a unit that was released in 2020?! I think the I/O is okay and am not too crazy for a unit similar to it requiring a touchscreen. All NI has to do is maintain a cohesive look and workflow between the Maschine 3 software and M+ standalone GUI. I wouldn't even trip if NI cannot get stem separation to work on M+ hardware. I can figure out a workaround with access of the Maschine 3 software for when I need the feature.

The maschine plus is fine. If they combine the mk3 and maschine studio to create a new stand alone unit would be really dope!! And complete integration with the mk3 komplete kontrol keyboard. At this point the complete integration would probably be the best thing to start with. And a smoother arrangement feature so we don't have to go to an outside daw. If not then at the very least deep integration for fl studio and logic or studio one to start off with. And put a damn manual in the box or put out some new instructional videos cause most of the ones out there are old as hell.

I feel the gap is too wide for Maschine to catch up in any meaningful way. The collaboration with Akai is but a subtle admission of this truth. IMO

It's time for a hardware refresh, and I'm not talking about a stand-alone. I’m very accustomed to using the software. It’s clean and easy to use for me honestly I like the 3.0 update alot. I have been using Maschine since day one, and I retired my MPC long ago for the hybrid workflow I wanted. Lots have changed since then, and lots of options are out now. Not everybody cares about a touch screen device. It’s not my thing. I just need dedicated hardware to the software to reflect its current software update- something fresh and new. Just how I feel personlly about right now.

They don't need another device just focus on software, however, standalone is a piece of work and that will be for every company out there in terms of having the hardware and components operating smoothly without compromising processing power which is why I dodged getting that device but it should be the only device they should refresh with better internal parts. The workflow is already seamless and has been when you create beats or even live perform. In other words Maschine is saying our sounds are damn good and we want folks to hear them on other devices

I think we should let the road map they have right now play out. So they get a better idea of how much to upgrade in terms of CPU, an actual ssd drive, larger footprint like the Maschine Studio. In addition a larger footprint like Maschine Studio would allow the addition of a more robust system, 8 outputs with decent convertors, yes I said convertors. I would say that would be a good match up to the MPC X since we are sharing...... Lets make this a more powerful Maschine...🔥🔥🎼

What bugs me most is that they have made Maschine MKii obsolete without introducing something new seven years after Mkiii. I have a mkii Micro that in my view is better laid out than the micro mkiii. I decided for usability reasons buy an outgoing mkii instead of the mkiii some years ago. If I have to buy something new to replace what is becoming obsolete, I do not want it to be something old that is going to be replaced. I have a lot of at this point unusable NI HW lying around already…

No email here; and I own Kimlee ultimate collectors edition, maschine plus, 2 maschine mk3’s, Maschine Studio, s4 mk3 dj controler and damn near every expansion for maschine. This is why all that shit is boxed up. They done know who their true customers are. Brother, thanks for the update but you can tell them it’s good riddance from a life long user since the first Komplete came out. I’m on Mpc live or my 3000LE,4000 studio plus, rossum sp 1200 depending on what I’m doing. Serato Sampler hands down when I’m on desktop. I honestly don’t use Native Instruments hardware or software for anything anymore. I think they’ve run their course. Maybe if I’d have gotten an email my interest would have been peaked enough to unpack machine plus and the s4 mk3 Traktor controller. Smh

I mean, hardware would be great, but I can't seem to have myself be excited for new hardware If the software is still going to end up being fundamentally the same. Key features or additional features that would improve or expand the work flow are always welcomed, but not at the cost of it talking so long that becomes meaningless in relation to the competition that's out there. so if native instruments is still gonna create a brand new hardware product, but still give us the same Software experience that is still lacking updates and features that we've been wanting for a long time, I can't see that as any different Then presenting a new toy to distract a kid from focusing on the main problem. If this company wanna talk tough? Okay, I'm ready to play. But if you're failing to deliver on your products, don't get mad when your customers start going for your competition. Let's See it Native!

I ain't had a Maschine since I traded my Maschine 2 for a MPC One, but from my perspective... It's understandable since they a lot newer to the hardware space, but it don't look like they ever had the Maschine+ all the way figured out yet. I feel like they needta spend more time & effort figuring out how to find the full potential in this unit before they start thinking about developing a whole new thing. If they try to make some new shit without figuring out how to maximize what they already have the shit is finna be a flop.

Ok that sounds good. I think though they should wait before a new MK4 or M+2. At least work out the bugs with what they have now! This way they don't lose focus and put all their energy in a new hardware set and not fix what is broken.

Still love my Machine NI is just a little too slow at developing updates and gear its like 1 guy is running it, I hit the same wall with Traktor their Dj software classic NI.

i've had a bunch of maschines, but NI policy has had me out of their gear for years. Was unable to use a maschine i bought used once and could not fix the license transfer or some shit.they were horrendous tho. eff em

Since forever i would like to see Reaktor being as integrated the way max4live is, deep traktor integration, and a more daw like timeline. Don't get me wrong The mk3 is the best, but NI got other great stuff, and don't put it all together for a super power hands on creation station , also more gooda midi control madness ❤

I configured my laptop to laucched Maschine at boot use the MK3 as a standalone unit and shutdown after 10minutes on inactivity.

I always get the feeling with NI that they fired there best programmers and then realised there was hardly a documentation! I’ve never seen a company struggle so hard to update anything on their code base! I bet most of them don’t know what half of the libraries they have do. you could pay a team to rewrite a maintainable maschine software build from scratch in about a year. Yet they seem so stuck. What is going on over there?
