This is by far the best review I’ve seen of Mint. Clearly did your homework and use it very competently, great playing.

You sir are an incredible keyboardist, musician with great ears and an in-depth knowledge of the layout of the guitar transcending to the keys. Very inspiring! Any band/studio that gets to work with you is very fortunate. This is the best tutorial video I've seen on the Mint. You have helped me much! Bravissimo & mucho congrats ! Thanks so much for making this video!

Electric Mint has hammer-ons & pull-offs. To trigger them in monophonic mode, simply play overlapping notes and make sure that the second note is played significantly softer (about 15 velocities if I remember correctly) than the first note. In polyphonic mode, overlapping notes with softer velocities works as well, however, you have to make sure that you end the previous notes in time to achieve a realistic-sounding transition. Recording a part, applying some sort of "delete overlaps" function on the midi data and manually extending the notes by a couple of ticks afterwards to create a smooth transition should do the trick. I hope this helps. (I'm one of the developers)

The mapping panel explains how to trigger hammer-ons & pull-offs by playing subsequent notes softer and with overlaps. So far I haven't had any success with triggering those articulations. Is there an exact velocity value that the subsequent notes needs to be in order to trigger hammer-ons & pull-offs? Is there a way to trigger realistic sounding slides that's similar to hammer-ons & pull-offs?

After experimentation I discovered these things which might be helpful to others: 1) You can change the pattern or sound after it has been recorded; 2) You can punch in with no problem; 3) In my DAW (Studio One 6) there is a chord track but these patterns will not follow that; 4) If you limit your MIDI piano roll to a certain scale the pattern will not follow that either; 5) You don't have to hold an entire triad. Just hold the root to trigger a major chord and hold the root and the third to trigger a minor chord.Thanks for the great review!

hey there. thx for another great review. may i suggest that you can get more legit hammers/pull offs set to mono rather than poly? that was a great tip about using the sustain pedal...perhaps mono combined w. the sustain pedal is the way to go for melodies? as i said earlier i have the les paul and the tele, and like many/most people dont dig into manuals enough...ha. this Strat one sounds great. I;m with you, I wish they had more keyswitches and we could pick and choose which ones to assign....pinch harmonics anyone?

How does this compare to Ample Guitar SC or Electric Burst?
@Ahobakachan Жыл бұрын
Electric Sunburst is just different guitar which is LP. It's not as bright as Strat (Electric Mint), pretty meaty for rock, metal or blues solos. Speaking of Ample Sound SC I think this one is really comparable to Electric Mint, maybe even better in terms of flexability. But the tone of NI guitrars is just right on spot. I use both, but if I want to make a guitar piece just like how I play it in real life I use Ampel Sound just beacause it can do almost everything from picking a string and position to vast array of articulatons. There's no finger playing thogh.

I’m learning to play piano so I’ll be better at virtual instruments. However, it looks to me like playing a virtual guitar needs a different type of playing. Another thing to learn! Thanks for the excellent walkthrough. One thing I would note is that it looks like you’re using a Komplete Kontrol keyboard. To get the lights to match the virtual imstruments, you have to open Kontakt inside of the Komplete Kontrol software. Thanks again!

@el-bov80342 жыл бұрын
@@hifimidi Not sure which you are referring to (Nylon or Bass). Would be interested in either/both. After having previously watched your bass comparison video (Ample/Spectrasonics/NI), I'd be curious to see where 'Prime Bass' sits. But the nylon is definitely more on my mind ;)
@hifimidi2 жыл бұрын
@@el-bov8034 My bad. I was talking about Nylon. I don't own Prime Bass. I'll ask for it.
@el-bov80342 жыл бұрын
@@hifimidi From the demos, 'prime' sounds uber-real. Perhaps even too real, as I've heard people complain about a very buzzy'E' string. It's very raw, either way. Definitely interested in 'Picked Nylon'. But I'll get it when I upgrade to K14UCE, in the Summer. If I can't hold on that long...well ;) As for 'Electric Mint'? I'm having doubts. It absolutely sounds great. But I'm thinking to possibly upgrade my 'RealStrat' to version 6. It doesn't offer a huge benefit over version 5, for anyone with amp software. But I'm still on version 4, which I can't stand ;) The 'Elite' strat in number 5 is such an improvement. Weir that I still get a hankering for those products. They're sampled so simply and so bare. However, the amount of articulations and implementation really sells the guitars. I wonder, do you still turn to them?
