Learn creative sound design from American producer, DJ and multi-instrumentalist, Lophiile. Along with writing and production credits with H.E.R., Alina Baraz, GoldLink, Mick Jenkins and Van Jess, the Seattle native has also released a catalog of critically-acclaimed remixes and singles since launching his solo career in 2012.
In this video, Lophiile shows you how to approach sound design with a musical mindset. Through a series of experimental sound sculpting techniques - including tape emulations, chorus, resampling, pitch-shifting, reverse delay, and more - Lophiile shows you how to give your tracks character, movement, and depth.

00:43 - Basic Sound Design

This felt like a honest lesson rather than a promotion of all plugins we “need” to get his sound. I realise my shortcoming is understanding melody and no plugin is going to help that!

Thanks NI for this higlhy valuable content. As he shows, freezing midi tracks and putting them into audio is a big part of his workflow, and I think that's a big thing Maschine is missing. I know it's possible to freeze tracks but since we can't go back to midi like Ableton does, it's stressful. I hope NI is considering updating this functionality if they consider making it a full DAW.
