I'd love to see a broader integration with our eastern partners, I'd go so far as to amend article 10 to not require a country to be in Europe to join. A membership action plan for Japan, South Korea, Australia and New Zealand just makes sense. Strong democratic countries with shared values dealing with similar global issues that already have overlapping treaties with NATO members (UK and US)

steenkolen engels zou engels zijn van iemand die de taal niet machtig is. Dat is totaal niet het geval. Dat het Nederlandse accent duidelijk aanwezig is is niet de definitie van steenkolentaal. Hij gebruikt woorden die zelfs een Engelsman nog na zou moeten zoeken op betekenis.

The only thing that could protect Ukraine's energy infrastructure this winter is the permission to use long-range weapons. Hopefully Rutte can put pressure on member states to make this happen.

It doesn't cost NATO much to enforce a no-fly zone over most of Ukraine, freeing up the much needed offensive capacity for Ukraine's own planes and air defenses!

Time for action to follow the talk. Invite Ukraine to join NATO, that would be a start.

If I recall correctly, the long established NATO rules would not allow any country involved in conflict to apply for membership, and with good reason. I also understand that NATO does not make invitations, it considers and generally accepts requests to join. It is the nature of it's open door policy. Ukraine will undoubtedly become a member and be welcomed enthusiastically. But the rules must be followed and all parties must remain patient. NATO's strength will not diminish and when the time comes, Ukraine's just peace will be assured.

I think the key is to secure a russo-ukrainian ceasefire without the need for any philosopher objectifying the war... because it is a disaster and nato doesn't get enough credit for its role, for the US' role as mitigators and not agitator..

Give Ukraine membership in 5 months . That will give Russia ample time to withdraw from all Nato territories.
