Natural Falls State Park - Watch before you go!

On the first Saturday of our 2020 vacation, we headed to Natural Falls State Park, in Colcord, Oklahoma. We really hadn't done much research on the park, other than knowing where it was located, and seeing that the pictures from there were phenomenal. While we did enjoy our time there, it was not what we expected.

I'm in your boat. Its a pretty waterfall I think everyone should see it. But don't go out of the way. And as for us with a family staying there would be boring. As far as I could see there was no swiming to cool down. Just a nice place to check out when your in the area.

Loved this review. You were honest and gave a lot of details about your experience. Waterfalls are a natural phenomenon and it might be worth the trip when I have the time. Looks disappointing I have booked to camp in a few weeks. But it's OK we will explore Oklahoma. Update, how wrong you were. We were here for four days and I explored the whole park. On the west side of the park are trails that travel up and down the bluffs, some of the trails look like they followed a Billy goat up the side of the cliff. I thought it was a great state park and a good place to hike. The bottom of the falls were so much better than the top.

We didn’t camp there, but the campground did look nice. There are some interesting places right across the border in Arkansas as well.

TBH, weather makes a difference with drought or dry weather example. Time of year should also be in consideration . My favorite park is Beavers Bend.

I agree. We have definitely seen that in different parks. We will have to check out Beavers Bend. We haven’t spent much time on OK, and have been looking for recommendations. Thanks!

Maybe after rains have been in the area a better scenario. Plus not in full tourist season. I like your advice of "if you are in the area". Neat to watch the movie of Where the red fern grows"! I grew up and also growing old in this area of home. Thank you 🤗

you must not understand oklahoma if you didnt know what this is. oklahoma isnt colorado or montana nor is it idaho. so yeah its a prairie state and if you get water coming out its in small areas. just think dances with wolves and you got oklahoma basically. but that being said you at least warned others to not expect this to be yellow stone national park lmao giggle
