This is the most interesting advice that will open my mind as I always wondered how my car adjusted it's self in different gears. It reminded me of the batmobile as it adjusted to speed and height so if he's going really fast he's really low and won't take on bumps or else it has to slow to soften bump and be higher for springs to soften blow on the drop.

Hi Julian, I bought your air suspension book, it's excellent, videos are great too. Subscribed. Ross

I feel like this was an introduction... Its a delicious teaser... But I feel somewhere in the background being led towards Bose's electrical-actuated system... Or say Specialized's philosophy in their Roubiax model "endurance" road bicycle... Named after the extreme Road Bicycle 700c race that INCLUDES COBBLESTONES... At the pressure of road tyres that think, most road cyclists have to see it as the joint equivalent of somewhere between a strongman competition and extreme eating... Extreme in the osteoarthritis sense... Hence the pressure on various manufacturers to - not excessively tradeoff benefits of the more traditional 700C road configurations: Rolling resistance, weight and aero 2 the introduction of "sister" categorys including Endurance, Cyclo-cross & Endurance.... Without the additional weight of traditional fork suspension in mountain/trial, So the Cobblestones of the Roubaix perhaps drove a real selective pressure to Gain endurance, because traditionally you haven't been cushioned by much Handlebar tape And tyres 80 - 100 psi ? Its JaRrInG ! Rathetr Specialized phiosphy was rather than have the "bike and rider" above the suspension... suspend the rider above the bicycle, With suspension within ther handlebar stem & The seat-post being allowed to evet so slightly float? Rock? Pivot and be dampened by elastomers... Some models even had elastomers placed with the tubes of the rear triangle. For some additional frame flexion (theoretically dampened?) Which yes some of the roaf power freaks made of steel seem to fret about for some theoretical power transfer... Ok... But an analogy say the ferarri isnt fun and hurts after say a 30km run... Yours less inclined than on a vehiicke where the tradeoffs are so slight on power / max speed, Yet you dont feel half crippled aftet pushing the bicycle. To finish with a note on the simplicity of *materialsselection* traditional steel bicycle 700C frames are celebrsted by many due the dampening qualities of steel without any additional complex mechanisms! Sure steel heavier than carbon and aluminium, but a certain silky smoothening of road noise that has to be appreciated! The holy grail with road/endurance aims take no road noise outsmaller.bumpsl Since after all the real world isn't a billard table perfectly smooth velodrome.

Is it possible to hear rumble? Sometimes when I'm driving I can hear a bass noise and I think it's just the car vibrating like a speaker would with pressure waves because of going over potholes. Is this just my imagination? I thought this might relate to natural frequencies in spring rate but I'm not able to find info on the audio aspects of this. Or if evwryday physical materials can even convert vibration into audio the way speakers do. Like a metal wall, or large glass windows in the wind, etc.

is the natural frequencies what they call ride rate?

No.. Ride Rate is the equivalent stiffness of the suspension, including the tire stiffness
@MrTL3wis
@MrTL3wis Жыл бұрын
The ride rate is given as a spring rate equivalent of the vertical stiffness of an axle or the sum of the whole car, generally of the sprung mass. The natural frequency of the sprung mass is what this video is talking about at that is a combination of the sprung mass and effective wheel rate (taking motion ratios into account). So the ride rate is different that the natural frequency, but the natural frequency calculation uses the ride rate variable. The reason you use natural frequency instead of rate is that it allows you to compare unlike cars. What is sprung 'stiffer', a NASCAR stock car or a Porsche 911? Do they have a similar front to rear distribution of their stiffnesses even though they have a significantly different overall weight, weight distributions and end use? This is how you compare apples to apples with suspension stiffness.
