You should do something about the dangers of crochets braids...although I do love em and get them done to my head often, I notice depending on who I let do my hair it feels like when I take these out ama have a "problem"(un-usual breakage).Some people are just ruff and destructive. So I wanted to know is their a right and wrong way to do crochet? They seem so easy to do anybody can do them.

Unfortunately, a lot of people think that they have coarse hair and they really don’t. They will have medium texture but a lot of density. People think that because their hair is dry that it is coarse. Basically, according to the chart, your hair would actually be a 4B and not a 4C. We don’t even use this chart in the industry because it is misleading. One of Oprah’s stylist created this chart and people ran with it. I’m a Licensed Cosmetologist. They taught us about texture and formation. The reason why some people’s hair doesn’t do the same as some KZbinrs is because they don’t know about their density, elasticity or porosity. Those other three things are also important factors in choosing products for your hair. Unfortunately, people end up becoming product junkies because they don’t know what hair products to use with their hair. They also don’t know about layering products to get a good result. There is actually 3 different textures: fine, medium and coarse. They represent the letters of the chart. The numbers represent the formation: straight, wavy, curly and coily. People need to know their texture, formation, density, elasticity and porosity. You will never know what kind of products to use if you don’t know those 5 things. If you have low porosity it means the products are just sitting on top of your hair. In order for products to penetrate your hair you need to have the cuticles raise. Medium porosity is the best because the cuticle is raise enough. You do not need to change anything you are doing. High porosity your hair soaks up products easily. If you have lightened or colored your hair, your regimen is going to change because you’re going to have to use products for color treated and/or lightened hair.
@torab19964 жыл бұрын
Interesting. Thank you for sharing. Just a couple questions though- you say we need to know our texture, formation, density, elasticity and porosity...and I can’t really tell if you’re agreeing or disagreeing with this video. So how do we figure all that out? Or is this video an accurate way of discovering those things? Thank you in advance!
@KiraiBK4 жыл бұрын
I can’t figure out my formation. My hair is naturally very shiny. It’s not fine and wets pretty easily. I believe it’s medium porosity but my hair will NOT air dry in an hour. One side of my hair is deep waves, the other side is loose curly ringlets, the front inch fluffs with no definable curl and the back is a soft, silky, tighter curl (like what the video shows as 4A). I can’t figure out what each section needs in order to ever let my curls loose. I always have it braided or twisted because of this.

Man I don’t even know. I could never identify with hair typing because my hair texture is mixed and a little frizzy. I do know that I’ll never truly know my hair type because growing up, my hair was always styled in braids or twists(two strand), ages 10-14 braided or straightened. I started experimenting with natural hairstyles (braid outs and wash & gos with mousse and curl gels 🥴). In high school my hair was either naturally styled or straightened. Straightening happened only 2-3 times a year between 17 and 21, now maybe twice a year. I’ve also dyed it about 4 times in the last 3-4 years. I barely have shrinkage, I’ve dealt with breakage since high school while always retaining a length between armpit and bra strap length.

my mom made me straighten my hair and she wouldn't even let me WASH IT AT HOME. FOR 2 YEARS. my hair is now SUPER damaged :(
@MONET8iAM4 жыл бұрын
dissapointment My best advice would be to try to find a natural salon, or stylist in your area if your mom won’t let you do your hair at home. Otherwise, if you’re capable of doing your own hair (if you’re at an age where you and your mom can accept a little independence/freedom), just find a basic routine that will keep your hair cleansed and moisturizer so that it can grow. Don’t do too much to it because you’ll see little growth or change. Definitely start with a trim though. My mom thankfully was the one who mainly took great loving care of my hair before high school. I’m 24 now and she offered to wash my hair last week lol. Hopefully yours will be understanding.

I have low porosity hair and I'm 4b, fine. Natural hair styles may last 3-4 days tops and I stood in the 🚿 for 10 minutes before it felt wet..airdry overnight..sometimes still not dry by AM...and it's past my shoulders when straightened.....🤷🏽😊

Excellent and informative video! My 2 daughter’s have different hair type. One has 4C and fine textured and the other has 4A/B and fine textured hair and require totally different approaches to wash/ moisture and braid etc! You were so dead on! This was excellent!

This is the best video i have seen! I just did big chop after transitioning for a year. It was shoulder length. Now i have a 4c twa and i dont know what to do. Fine texture. Thick. Soft. Looking like a fro. 5 inch fro. Med high porosity. Air dries in about 35 minutes😭

This was so NEEDED!!! I have thick coarse (from middle crown to the back) and thin fine hair in the front to mid crown. I currently am loving the Nefertiti's Secret Moringa Oil, but finding a shampoo & conditioner against the Bali water is an ever-changing toss up! Sista's need beauticians out here. I am so tired of the braids; and most are using synthetic which is causing some serious breakage and drying to the front of my thin fine hair, creating it to be thinner

Kind of long. I've kept my hair in braids since working from home. Recently realized all of the new growth and cut perm off. Washed my hair and seeing different curl patterns. Haven't had natural hair since I was a kid (56 now) and want to keep it but not sure how to style/work it. This video was very helpful.

this really helps me thank you so much all my life I've had 4c hair my mom taught me to love and take care of it and see it for its true beauty but one day I don't know when after getting some faux locs badly done to the point where she tied fake hair to my real hair just because she was lazy my hair felt like turned into like 4b hair I wasn't sure if it just needed to be washed and conditioned or what but after trying all that nothing worked I was really scared since it felt so sudden I was really scared in truth I still am that the hair I loved and cared about could change right before my eyes a whole community I felt a bond with because of my hair could be lost so easily but I kept going doing my usual hair routine when it was down but it seemed like it wasn't working as well I heard that your hair type could change with puberty but its incredibly scary that the hair I found and still find comfort in is gone I went through hell and back with my hair and I'm really scared my hair is so different now but I just have to move forward and love the new part of me thank you for reading this I hope you have a great day love your natraul hair and it will love you back that's what ill try to do from now on
