You actually want to have your hair be really damp so the leave ins and other stuff distribute evenly. I suggest not having dripping hair, but wet enough hair then when you put your hands around it and squeeze it it makes an audible squishing sound. If you still hear the same squishing sound while applying your product through, you're doing it right.

Yes I'm between a 2B and 3A more like 2B and 3A and my hair changes from day 1, to day 2, I can wake up the next day , with under curls or curls and waves, like riglets or type S shape or a lot of loose waves or some waves lack of definition to where it looks soggy and loads of frizz. It all depends on what products I use too, and how I sleep 🧖 etc.. I'm so frustrated with it. If I add to much product to keep them soft and defined it can get weighed down like a mop. It's so hard to manage or a giant frizz ball . It's give or take. 🤦🤷😵

I have type 3C/3B hair with low porosity! Here are some tips for your hair: 1.Don’t use light weight products since the hair can get very frizzy 2.Use deep conditioners a lot to get extra moisture 3.Use den man brushes when doing your curly hair routine 4. Use a gellé for more definition 5. Buy a diffuser if possible to dry your hair quicker 6. Use a lot of oils for extra moisture

if your hair is damaged from over-processing from colour, or is weak and fragile, you need to get amino acids into the hair shaft, so definitely don't want to coat your hair in oil. hair oils - and especially coconut oil - tend to seep into every tiny hole in your hair shaft and disguise the real problem to act as a quick-fix; this won't help your hair in the long-run and is one of the main reasons I advise against using oils in your hair.

no worries just happy i could help you learn how to better understand the type of products you should or shouldn’t be putting in your hair. unfortunately a lot of times people like seeing quick resolutions to their hair problems rather than treated their hair for long term benefits. but in reality when it comes to anything really, long term goals are always best.

My hair is a 3b. My daughter's hair is a 3c. She uses shea moisture products on her hair and about 4 months ago she started appying coconut milk to freshly washed damp hair and covered it with a disposable shower cap for an entire day or overnight once a week then rinsing it throughly with warm water. Since then her curls stretched but are extremly defined and sooo soft. The shine of her hair is incredible. It's so moisturized and not greasy or weighed down at all. I have 4C hair and I think that we 4C girls should really use oils like coconut oil, castor oil, olive oil etc and massage it into your scalp for 2-5 mins as it helps with blood circulation which can bring the nutrients your hair needs. Also if you can you could spritz water on your hair every night, because water is a good moisturiser, and then seal it with some oils. Also drink lots of water and eat healthy food. The L. O. C method works too. Hope this helps 😉

I am 3a but sometimes I can lean towards 3b. My no. 1 tip would be to take a little bit of your product and add it gradually until you reach the desired look. (Too little and it hardly does anything and you are left with your bed hair). Too much and you look greasy. Another quick tip is that if you feel like you aren't getting anywhere with the product you are using, STOP using it for that day. It may be a bad hair day and adding more won't help. I suggest a ponytail on these days. :) Also, use Loads and I mean loads of conditioner, it is your best friend. :) Hope this helps.

It's honestly really sad to say that I can't remember what my curl type is :(( I am 21 years old and have been CHEMICALLY RELAXING my hair since I was 11. I am bi-racial (afro-brazilian and white) and since my mom never new how to do my hair properly she just took me to get it relaxed at a really young age. I have never had the courage to go back to natural but now I see so many you tubers doing it and i think I am really ready to start this journey. Looking at pictures I am pretty sure my hair is in between 3a and 3b hair. I haven't gotten a relaxer in 6 months and that is the longest I have gone in 10 years. Your videos are really inspiring
@savannamitchell32787 жыл бұрын
The same thing happened to me. One thing I will say is that I expected to have the same hair as when I was a toddler but hair changes, especially when you go through puberty. When I was little I had 3a hair but now I have 3c. I've also heard of some people having their curls get looser as they get older. If you take the plunge just know it can take up to 6 months for your hair to truly go back to its natural state, or even longer
@memyselfmariah357 жыл бұрын

And now I really like my hair and I have a 3b

My hair type is a 2a, 2b, and sometimes 2c hair texture and some of my tips for that hair type is: Do a deep conditioning treatment at least once or twice a month to keep the right amount of moisture but not overly moisturizing your hair considering it is already pretty straight. a good leave in conditioner, the one that I recommend is the it's a 10 the original kind. And I wouldn't recommend using a lot of oils but for 2 type hair I think the best is either coconut oil or olive oil they both work wonders for 2 type hair!😁

I also use Cantu and I love it but I can’t always use the same product because after a while I notice that my hair will get used to hair products and the product doesn’t work as well in my hair so I tend to change it up sometimes. Another really awesome product that I found that works for my hair (I’m a 3b as well) is generic value products liquid sculpting gel. It’s a very lightweight gel that I personally like because it holds the curl without making your hair crunchy or too gross and dirty from product. Another tip I would have for 3b or even 3c people is to once in a while think about getting a resting hairstyle. I know that for me my hair is extremely hard to grow and the only way I can achieve a little bit of length is to get sew in hair extensions. Not sure if it’s just a me problem or a 3 hair texture problem.

Another tip is to let your hair air dry and when damp put what ever oils you want and detangle after the shower the do your natural curly hair routine😌

I'm a 2b/2c, and I've found out that microfiber towels and naturally drying your hair with cooler air gets rid of a lot of frizz, and I've been consistently using those tips and they work! Also heard that wavy or curly head types could benefit from a silk pillowcase :D

Ik it’s been like a year, but if I were to use like a hair dryer but put it on cold air setting would that work. Also, would I do that when it’s super wet or like when it’s 80% dry or sum

@@_ryry11 i forgot about this comment 😭 but yes that would work! it depends on what works for you and your hair but id say try out 100% wet first and if it doesnt work for you, try smth else :) i usually air dry until its half dry and then put hair oil on the ends but that’s just me!

don't worry, I'm the same. It is probably due to the volume and amount of hair. My recommendation is to use mouse or light-weight gels, it will give a nice shape but not too greasy or hard. also hydrate the fuck out of it, like deep condition once a week and never skip conditioner. let it air dry too!
@kasie85006 жыл бұрын
It doesn't have to be in one group. Your hair can be 2c and 3a at the same time. For example. I have 4b in the front of my hair and more of 4c at the back.

Eisakan Redneal yea the problem for me is figuring out the right products to use and maintaining that balance mc between the textures because it does make a BIG difference. long, fine, dense 3c/4a lightened hair -don’t bother with a wide toothed comb, it makes everything much much harder and a tangle teezer is a much better option -shampooing wont dry your hair out if you aren’t using some janky stripping one. Sulfates aren’t bad in moderation either -don’t try to fight the frizzy roots by loading gel/thick creams onto them, it’ll just cause buildup -don’t slick your hair back everyday or else your edges are gonna be s n a t c h e d and not in the good way -if you have lightened hair, be more gentle with your styles/detangling, your hair isn’t as strong as you think it is -i’ve never gone wrong with shea moisture (aside from the gels, stay the hell away from most of them) The shampoos, conditioners, deep conditioners, and curl creams that i’ve used have never put my hair in worse condition than i started out with. -use thick creams/butters for wash and gos unless your hair is low density AND fine -if you don’t want super fluffy hair, for the love of god use a gel or something with hold. If the product you’re using doesn’t say it gives hold, don’t get mad at it for not giving hold

I'm a 3a/3b and I have pretty short hair. The most important thing to remember for this hair type is to use really light products. Light hold, not a lot of oil, and just the right amount of moisture so that your curls don't go from bouncy to soggy and sad looking. I dry my hair with a microfiber towel scrunching upwards to keep my definition and remove excess water. Then, I use Miss Jessie's Quick Curl Cream in a really small amount and a tiny bean-sized amount of Miss Jessie's Jelly Soft Curls (keep in mind I have pretty short shoulder length hair so I don't need much product if you have longer hair I'd use more) also scrunching the product into my hair because i find that combing products through tends to make my hair extremely frizzy and undefined. Then after either air drying or diffuser on LOW HEAT, I add a few pumps as needed of the L'Oreal Extraordinary Lustrious Oil Serum to define my curls a bit more, add some more light moisture, and get rid of any particularly frizzy spots. Hope this was useful to somebody lol.
@victoriaheed29435 жыл бұрын
I have the same hair as you, 3a/b just above shoulder length and agree with everything you say, the only thing I'd add is scrunching (squish to condish) in the shower whilst conditioner is on and it's soaking wet, I find that if I start the scrunching there I get more hydrated tighter curls 😉

I have mostly 2c waves and on the bottom of my hair, I have 3a curls. I also think I have medium porosity. I don't live in the US so the collection of drugstore cg friendly products is very limited here. I either have to dig for them at the "natural stores" or order them online. Sometimes shipping can cost more than the product itself! So frustrating! Anyways, I use the Not Your Mother's Curl Talk shampoo, conditioner, cream and gel. They all work great for me! I use more product on the 3a curls on the bottom. my left side of my hair gets more volume and definition so I part it to the left. So to refresh my hair I use a water bottle to get my hair damp and add a bit more conditioner and cream. I do this until day 4 when my hair get smore oily on the roots and frizzy on the ends so i just put it in a bun or a braid. Then, in the evening of day 4 I wash it again. I wait until it fully airdries to pineapple my hair for sleeping. I wish I could get a satin pillowcase but the catch is- I'm only 14! So I don't get to make that decision 😔 Anyways, I hope this helped someone with their journey ❤️💙

im around a 3c and 4a and all i can say is shes right about needing MUCH more moisture and about shrinkage. i recently blew out my hair and its just past shoulder length but when it shrinks all the way up, its half way up my ears. some tips i have are -sectioning your hair before you wash, wash each section out one at a time, and keep the sections after rinsing for when you get out, so that you can work with each individually until you style it. -HOT OIL TREATMENTS DO WONDERRRRS! even if its just a few basic oils, they do so much in terms of adding and KEEPING moisture in you hair. -Add some kind of moisture everyday even if its just water. nothing grows without water and the whole using a t shirt instead of a towel and wrapping your hair at night thing is no joke. ive had my lazy days and regretted them because my hair matted up so much in one night

My hair loves lotions and milky but still in the creamy kind of consistency. It loves butters and creams😍 I make a point to seal it with like olive oil to keep all the moisture in. My hair definitely has a lot of shrinkage because my curls are so dense and tight and small. I love my 4A hair and I wouldn’t change it! While also adoring any other type of hair. I had NO idea if she even had curls, or if it was just going to be frizzy and slightly wavy. I WASHED her hair and put in a collagen spray (Guy Tang's My Hero X2) and rinsed. It makes the hair instantly soft. You can finger detangle or use a pick or wet brush to detangle. Then, I used Llanza's Trauma Treatment leave in and 2 drops of Olaplex No. 7 bonding oil per 2" section. I did a twist out on 1/8" curls and let it mostly air dry. THEN diffused it after it was about 75% dry. It will look like this girl's haur after I cut in a shape. I am loving the curls. As a professional stylist, I HAVE to kni7w how to slay natural hair and all forms of curly hair. People see my straight blonde hair and assume I know nothing. I can't wait to add looks to IG. White stylists do not get enough experience with natural hair. I have to do some mannequins before anyone will trust me with their curls. LOL

If any of u have type 4b hair like me, then u want to make sure u really moisturize your hair every single day. This will really help your hair to grow because when your hair is not moisturized, dry and brittle then that causes breakage. Also if u iron your hair make sure to use some heat protective gel some that your hair won't get heat damage.

I have 4a and 4b hair. It's mainly 4a. Make sure that you do the LOC method everyday, do protective hairstyling, make sure you deep condition every week, to stretch the hair, put it in twists braids or bantu knots, scalp massages every day or 3 times a week, trim every 3 months or every 2 months if it's damaged,finger detangle for thickness, and make sure you are confident about your hair. The 4 type is beautiful, 3 type, 2 type, and 1 type. All are unique hair types and that is what make your hair flawless. #TeamNatural

Me too - mostly 3C but if I don't use any product it would be more of a 3b/3c combo. I use anything from gel to creme to conditioner (and if I'm desperate I can use any old moisturizer). What are denman brushes? And what kind of deep conditioner or hair mask do you recommend?

I have 3C/4A type hair. Mainly leaning over on type 4A. But I would suggest my favorite natural hair product line, which is Shea Moisture Jamaican Black Castor Oil line. Use the shampoo, conditioner, deep conditioner and leave-in conditioner. Biggest tip for this type of hair: Deep condition once a week and make sure you moisturize and seal your hair once every 3 days (so 2 times a week) with warm water and oil (I have low porosity hair so the only oils I use are Grapeseed oil and Peppermint oil. Moisture prevents the tight curls from tangling and knotting, which means you won’t have a need to cut your hair, which means.... GROWTH!!😊💙
@NaomiRoots4 жыл бұрын
This is so interesting. I will look into this though I don't know anything about sealing and moisturizing my hair. But I was online looking for a diy moisturizing mask for my hair because it's starting to feel rough and knotty and like it needs to be cut... Just what you mentioned! If you can say more about moisturizing or name specific products - that would be great!
@JamekaVibes4 жыл бұрын
Naomi Roots Your hair needs a balance of moisture and protein. So alternate between a protein treatment and deep conditioning treatment. One week do a deep conditioning treatment for moisture and the next week do a protein treatment and keep alternating like that. That will give your hair moisture as well as strengthen it because of the protein. Protein makes your hair stronger, which prevents shedding or breakage. And moisture gives hair elasticity and prevents knotting and tangling. For protein treatment, it is great to make your own. Best things to make a protein treatment is a mixture of warm water, 2 eggs, mayo, organic honey, and Jamaican Black Castor Oil and blend it all together and use as your protein treatment. And put a shower cap on and then wrap a towel over that once it is placed on your hair and leave it in for 30 minutes to 1 hour and then rinse it out. For a deep conditioning treatment, mix warm water, Tea Tree Peppermint Oil, Grape-seed oil, organic honey (a great humectant to draw in moisture), and mix up and put in your hot and then put a shower cap on and wrap a towel on that and keep it on for 30 minutes to 1 hour and then rinse it out. But if you just want to use products, I suggest what I use, which is Shea Moisture Jamaican Black Castor Oil line. They have a deep conditioning mask and protein treatment mask and shampoo and conditioner. Hope this helps.

I’m between 3b and 3c but I rarely ever leave my hair curly. Usually I straighten it with no-heat methods but that takes so much time ( literally 24 hours ish) and only looks good 2 out of 10 times so I’ve been watching curly hair videos and tutorials a lot lately to start styling my natural curls. One tip I have is to use coconut oil after you shower! It keeps the moisture in and helps a lot with frizziness. Also try to brush you hair in the shower before conditioning because if you do it afterwards, the curls usually turn into some very frizzy and huge strands of hair.

I am a 3b/3c im not a 4 but I think the 3's need tons of moisture too! My hair loves that cholestoral, stuff that s in the big jar, especially the olive one, its smells beautiful, and its really powerful for healing dry, damaged, tangled, strands. It restores life and moisture into stressed out strands. It leaves your hair pleasantly fragrant. I also like profective's deep conditioning repair conditioner cream. It smells like banana's mangos and coconuts, and its great for healing hair, and reshaping the curl pattern. Profectiv helps the hair retain moisture for awhile and the wet look lasts longer. I love it. Doo grows hot oil is amazing too.

My curly type is 3B/3C My tip is to wash and deep condition at least once a week. Use a Silk bonnet or silk pillow cases to sleep. A Micro fiber towel is good to have. A Denim brush can be helpful. I recommend finger detangling. Use products that doesn’t have any harsh chemicals such as sulfates, paraban, and silicones. I’m sure I have more tips but don’t want to make this too long. Thanks for the video!

lol I'm a 16 year old white girl with curly hair that my mom had no idea what to do with, idk where my curls came from, but my hair has been straightened from the time I was 7-8 all the way up until I was about 14 and I decided to finally let my hair do it's thing, it was so so frizzy at first like a 2a-b but like huge, I was so used to brushing out my straightened hair dry, than it just became a mess, now I'm between 2b-3b depending on the day, cause my hair has been so dyed and heat damaged, but within the last few months I've really decided to cut the shit and get on the curly game, easpecially since people now accept me and my hair for what it is and aren't constantly telling me to straighten it, if anyone has some tips, feel free to let me in on them?!!!

I'm not sure if you switched to brushing your hair only when it's wet - otherwise try that. And experiment with different types of conditioners and hair brushes, they make a lot of difference for my hair. Hair oil might also work well depending on how greasy your hair gets. Good luck with finding what works for you. :)

I know your pain took me until age 25 to really figure it out. I wash my hair with conditioner, shampoo only when necessary (sweaty gym day, camping for a week) but wash it every three days w/ conditioner only. As for products, I have found the freezes line works great. The spray in conditioner first, and you can't use too much its awesome. Then the dream curls spray to help define your curls as it dries. I also use the curling moose for some hold. Dry it with a defuser with your head up side down and hair hanging forward. Cool to warm heat. Try not to use hot it will frizz. When almost dry flip it up, shake it out, let it land where it wants to, spray with hairspray. Good luck, play with products, find what works for you. Just remember moisture is your friend and heat the enemy.

Work with your hair while its wet, use deep conditions, condidioners without sulfates and silicones, leave ins, all of it. When you detangle do NOT use fine toothed combs or tight brushes, use a wide toothed comb. Some people really like to use diffusers to help their curly hair, I personally dont but it could work from what ive seen. When you put in any kind of moisturizing product do not forget to put more in the bottom than anywhere else because the bottom is what maintains the frizz and controlls it the most. Unless you want crunchy hair, dont use gel products until you feel like your hair will work with it or else it will be really hard to manage your hair. Mousse will also normally cause frizz to your hair, but it makes it shiny tho. If you want an alternative, tea tree oil and jojoba oil, even coconut oil can really help your hair shine more. Anyway thats all the tips i got :')

I’m 15 and I didn’t really realize that I had curly hair until I was 14 when I figured out what a diffuser was (my mom has 3b curls and doesn’t need it so she never showed it to me😂) I’m so new at this pls send help 🙏😭 I wash my hair at night and it gets ruined in the morning smh :(

I have a combo of 3a and 3b. I wash once a week. Use extremely gentle handmade soap. And a very diluted vinegar/water rinse (about a 1:16 ratio in ounces. Helps each strand of hair lay flat = super silky). A little jojoba oil/castor oil with essential oils sit over night every other month or so. I try to let my natural hair oil do its thing. Natural leave in detangler/wide tooth comb. Light weigh strong hold mousse. Plop it and Scruch! No heat 😄👍 That is my two cents. Enjoy! And thank you for posting this video!

I have 3a/3b/3c hair it's around there.and I dont use to many products. I was my hair twice a week along with rice water twice a week. On those 2 days (usually on 1 weekend day and Wednesday) I detangle it,wash then condition it. after that I make sure to take out all the shampoo and conditioner. Next I dry it a bit with a towel so its damp. Next I spray rice water in it and ring it out a bit. I cover it in a towel for about a minute then I spray a little bit more and add Cantu curl activator into my hair and rap it in a towel for about 2-3 minutes. I take it out and let it fully air dry. Hope that helped
