I’m only 3 minutes in to this video and I wanna cry (happy tears). My alopecia story is pretty close to hers. I’m 17 and lost all my hair to alopecia almost a year ago. Sometimes it’s hard to stay confident because I’m so use to having my own hair and being able to do whatever to it. It’s also hard to stay confident when I want to embrace my baldness because people literally stare at me when I’m out. I appreciate that you are bringing awareness to this.

I have alopecia too! Wig or no wig, you are still a beautiful sister. My hair is slowly growing back because I am constantly using rosemary hair oil. I also use cloves in very clean water. Not the sink water, but I purchase baby water by the gallons each month. I drink it too! Exercise Plenty of rest Drink lots of water I wash my hair with black African soap I use rosemary mint hair mask (this stuff is really helping to restore my hair) Cloves (boil your water- let it cool) let it sit overnight in a bottle Fenugreek seeds (I mix this up with my conditioner) Fruits and vegetables Fish (salmon) I eat lots of kale, broccoli, spinach, lentils Jello (this suppose to also help restore hair) It's been a long journey for me, but guess what? This Too Shall Pass! Pray Pray Pray Pray Pray!!!!!!!!!

This is great! My journey with Alopecia began at age 8 and I am now 35. I had a head full of hair as well and I didn’t experience hair falling out it was almost like my hair just started to disappear suddenly and never grew back. My bald spots started off small and by age 10 they were so large my mother couldn’t cover them up so I started wearing a wig. I lost my eyebrows and my eyelashes are very thin. My eyebrows eventually grew back after I finished college. Unfortunately I managed to keep hair everywhere else on my body. 😆Just last year on Father’s Day I decided to shave the little bit of hair that grows back in patches and embrace my baldness. Once I got to experience life without a wig trying to put one on again was stifling. Now that it’s been a little over a year I decided my baldness is here to stay but I will venture and play with some wigs now! Thank you for this video! 💖

Hello!! i have just found out about hair units. they are meant for everybody but i’ve been seeing them for people with alopecia. I have alopecia myself and i can see how it’s a struggle. I am so glad that I found your channel! Meechie, thank you giving women with alopecia a platform. I have what presents itself as alopecia areata. I tend to lose hair in the front and mid sections of my head. I’ve tried injections and light therapy, as well as pills. I had some success but it was expensive and time consuming. I’ve opted for inexpensive wigs and clip ins to help cover the bald spots. Although, I think my installation is adding to the stress on my hair and scalp. I have scarring alopecia at the crown of my head. I also had acne keloids on my scalp when I was 17 years old and it took 10 years to get rid of it. That could have been the start of the issue but I think the crown hair loss kicked into high gear after I had a baby. Prior to that, I had a majority of my hair. I actually had some traction alopecia from my pre-teen years(I loved my ponytails) around my temple area which is being stubborn. It's frustrating when you can't wear the natural styles you want because of the bald thin patch at your crown. I absolutely love twist outs but the styling is not where it can be because of the thinning. I'm trying some hair growth oils and a lot of prayer to see if my hair will grow back. Sheree is a beautiful lady with or without hair and her confidence is so inspiring and I hope that those who suffer from Alopecia will see how beautiful they really are. I want to share a poem with my friend that I have written to let all of the ladies and gents know that God made you the beautiful person that you are and you never have to compare yourself to anyone else. Also Meechie thank you for explaining that wigs and weaves are not the cause of Alopecia, but that not taking care of your hair properly can cause hair loss like Alopeica. It's been almost 2 1/2 years for me. Where I'm from there aren't any beauty salons that are experienced with wigs. So, what I do is I order my wigs in and watch youtube videos to learn to do things myself. I just recently started to glue them on my own. It seems so much harder than the videos that I've been watching, which just makes me frustrated and depressed. I've had Alopecia Areata since I was a kid then during my divorce that's when it progressed into Alopecia Universalis. I think between the divorce and losing all my hair, it was rock bottom for me. i suffered some traumatic events a while ago and later on started loosing hair. a few weeks went by and you could tell in my middle part that my hair was thinning/falling out. months later, you could literally see my scalp through my hair. i had probably lost around 40% by this point and i thought it would finally stop (because my dermatologist diagnosed me with telogen effluvium and said that after around 3-4 months it would slow down or stop) but it never did stop coming out. finally reaching the six month mark of just daily hair loss, i had probably lost around 80% of my hair. my middle part was huge and the back of my scalp had little to no hair. same with the rest of my head. i was devastated and finally realized that there was just nothing i could do to fix what had happened with my hair. i decided to shave it so that i could stop stressing at seeing it coming out. i also lost all my eyebrows and have no hair on my body, but my eyebrows are slowly growing back in. anyways, i got a wig and have had it for around 5 months now and i'm not seeing improvement on my head with growing hair, so its really upsetting that i have to live as a 14 year old girl whose bald. i just wanna say for any girl or even guy going through this is that there are other options, and even though it's a pain to have to fill in your eyebrows everyday or put on a wig when you go out, at least you're still healthy and living.

I’m 17 and am currently losing my hair due to alopecia, I’m not sure what to do, it’s completely shattered my confidence. It’s really hard to deal with as a teen because not many people in my age category are dealing with this, plus I come from a poor family so treatments can’t be quite a bit. I thought it was sweet she took off her wig. My mother put my first perm in my hair at 5. And then until age 21. I got nothing but perms and braids. My mother is mixed, so she doesn’t have my 3c texture. So she didn’t teach me nothing and the fast solution was the braid and perms. Then at 21 I had a baby and that was the end to my hair. I just hugged my daughter so tight she is 11 and it's back to school time. She dresses mostly covered because of her alopecia but i am dying to dress her like a young lady. If you meet a man that is insensitive and just a complete ass, point out his flaws too….we all have them. Love them or do what you can to make flaws less visible if they bother you. Hey girl. I also have Alopecia Universalis. Haven't worn a wig in years. The only time in my adult life that I wear a wig is if I have a date or just st feel like dressing up. I am proud and confident to live my life as a bald woman. As a single Mumma of 2 kids who both have medical conditions and myself with other autoimmune conditions I have many more priorities that take my focus. Xx
