Hey Fops 🙋🏾 Firstly I love your integrity with the giveaway - like you actually took the time to write out all the names and pick a winner. I really respect that! Thank you (as always) for all this G-O-L-D content. I love using D.I.Y's as I'm all for natural non toxic ingredients and my hair absolutely loves clay washes so your details on how to use them for different purposes is great. I've dabbled with a few Ayurvedic ingredients including henna and I've become a little cautious as my hair is super protein sensitive. You recently helped me to understand that my hair responds so badly to aloe Vera due to the high Amino content.. Are there any Ayurvedic ingredients we protein sensitives should avoid?
@AfopeAtoyebi4 жыл бұрын
Aaaaah, thank you!!! I know that protein sensitive hair can react negatively to henna. But Shikakai is made from Acacia so it’s mostly sugars and acids, and saponins. Same for the reetha. So I think it should be fine. 🥰 let me know if you try it
@HeyItsQuayshawn3 жыл бұрын
I've known about these ingredients independently for a while, but I've been nervous about using soap nuts or clays alone. That recipe makes so much sense. I can't wait to try it.

I've been experimenting with alternative shampoos this year. Regular shampoo tends to dry my scalp if I used it often. So far Shikakai has been my favorite. I make curlyproverbs recipe which includes aloe vera powder, aloe vera juice, and peppermint, lavender, and rosemary essential oils but I also add slippery elm. Rhassoul clay is also another favorite and I liked the bentonite clay as well. I used the Kayolin clay once and I liked that as well but it was messier than the other clays but I'm not sure if it's because I made to runny but it did the job. I might do Greenbeauty's recipe and add the rhassoul, bentonite, and kayolin clays together. I tried the Aritha and it was stripping and it was hard to wash the little bits out of my hair. I recently tried ambunu as well which has a lot of slip.

Problem- not enough slip in ayurvedic cleanser. Solution- add melted raw African black soap and a tiny scoop of coconut oil to your recipe. The black soap is LIFE. I swear by it. And the coconut oil help to lift dirt, prevent tangling and protect against hydro-fatigue in hair (esp high porosity hair). Also if you get powdered aritha rather than the whole nut you’ll get a richer lather and less sticking. Question: based on their charges (+ vs -) is it technically ok to mix bentonite clay with Shakaikai and/ or Aritha powders?? Cause that’s what ive done the past few times. Im very experienced with Ayurvedic herbs but Im fairly new to healing clays. I tried Rashoul clay in the past and hated it!!! I couldnt get the cast and grit out of my hair for days even after multiple rinses. Ive been using bentonite clay for about 2 months now and im in love. Been trying it mixed with other ingredients so it wont be TOO stripping. I use beeswax and castor oil to seal so need some stripping every washday. Thanks for yet Another great video. Im loving your channel!

I haven’t tried mixing the clays with the shikakai and aritha powders - how did that turn out? I don’t know if/what the charges are for the shikakai or aritha powders. I don’t think they have any so I don’t think it should be a problem. But I’m just wondering whether it would be overkill in the sense that you shouldn’t need to use them in conjunction as they both cleanse/clarify the same way.
@makedaahmirhfareed31744 жыл бұрын
It turned out great! My thinking behind it was (being experienced with Shakaikai and aritha, and being new to clays) I wanted to lessen the harshness of the clay but diluting it with the powders which work similarly but also impart nutrients into the hair rather than just lift and strip. I did a straight bentonite/ACV mask one week, the following week i wanted to use the mask again... but i was scared. Lol. So i made a more watery mix of my normal Ayurvedic powders, black soap and the bentonite clay and used that for the next 2 weeks...my hair loved it! The third week i just used my black soap/ castille soap mixture. This week im gonna do the mask again i think... try it. My high porosity hair has never been so defined and retained moisture and hold ( in a wash n go) like this before in my life. ❤️ ...I use aloe juice liquid leave in, and Lustrasilk as a cream leave in and Flax seed/Aloe gel as my wash n go combo (its LIFE!!!). I seal it all with a whipped mix of shea butter, red palm butter, castor oil and a little bees wax. And let me tell you- I thought my hair could NEVER look and feel this good and last so long (5-10 days I’ve been getting out of my wash n gos without refreshing)... who do i think I am?? 😎🥰🤷🏾♀️
@makedaahmirhfareed31744 жыл бұрын
*also i followed the clay mask with a henna/amla/fenugreek/aloe mask and deep moisturizing conditioner the first week. Then i followed the clay washes with henna/amla/fenugreek gloss (mixed in my moisturizing deep conditioner the next 2 weeks. I know thats probably way too much for many people’s hair but my hair is loving it! My porosity and curl pattern have NEVER been this controlled. This is my perfect balance of moisture and strength i think. Hallelujah is all I can say!! ❤️🙏🏾❤️

Hi Fope, I want to switch my shampoo for bentonite clay. I’ve really been loving the effect on my hair, my hair has never felt so moisturised. But I heard bentonite clay can damage the hair. Please how true is this?
@TheTamago3 жыл бұрын
If you don't use it too often and you moisturize your hair after you washed it (and seal it) you should be fine :)
