I will be receiving my first infusion in 5 days. I've had ptsd since 1994 and 30 years of hypervigilance has exhausted me. I'm so looking forward to this.

Thank you so much for all your videos on trying to control your anxiety, every time a panic attack hits me, you pop into my head with the 5 rule, you have no idea how much that has helped me, I'm hoping it helps with my upcoming surgeries....toe correction (again) and droopy eyelid.....I'm going to mentally carry you into surgery with me, so my anxiety doesn't run me over again, you are very helpful for those of us with medical PTSD.... Very, very interesting. Not at all a fan of ketamine as I have stated on your other videos. BUT I would be willing to deal with it if it’d help with my ptsd. Without saying a lot, I’m going to show this to one of my drs, whom I think the world of. I’m sure he can direct me to the right place. I have heard of ketamine being used for many psychological problems but never made the connection. As I know it as a sedative and only believed it just people wanting the “high” Stress can cause pain that no pain medication can relieve. It took me many years to learn this. I only learned of this due a great pain management therapist. Very excited to show my dr this. I certainly appreciate your videos. Thank you 😊

I’m in a very dark place and I went from living with anxiety and depression and my life was not ok but I wasn’t really suffering. Out of nowhere something happened at the beginning of this year and I am not the same person. Like a switch got flipped and everything just changed. I’m now thinking about my life being possibly near it’s conclusion. I suffer like you couldn’t even imagine and I can’t even articulate anymore. I’m set up to get ketamine from a clinic with an ER doctor which you seem to like but she does IM which you don’t seem to like and I’m already terrified. I couldn’t walk into your clinic because I am usually too afraid to go out except occasionally when i spontaneously seem to feel better which only happens from time to time. This doctor I am seeing seems to checks all the boxes you’ve said to look for in a doctor/clinic but I still am absolutely terrified because how do you really ever know for sure? I am all alone and have no support system. I’m so scared to go through this but I’m so bad right now I can’t imagine any other way out. I wish that I even knew a doctor like you but I don’t. Most of your videos are helpful but others make me even more scared. I feel like you’d know what to do to fix me even if the ketamine didn’t work as well as expected. I wish I could live in a world where one Ativan a day even helped me. I was on 4 1mg Xanax a day and when I suddenly got worse I, for the first time in my life, felt like I needed more and more. They now switched me to 10mg of diazepam 4x times a day (which is basically half the dose I was used to and I find diazepam to hit me much more subtly). So on top of everything else I’m now in my darkest place and dealing with the difficult physical and psychological issues that come with a massive reduction in medication and the kind of medication. I just feel like you could help me fix all of this and if you even saw my message and offered to help me (I know it would never happen), I couldn’t get to you even if you took care of everything. The clinic I’m going to is less than 2 miles away and the doctor is picking me up because I’m too scared to use an Uber on most days. I really wish that you would see this and want to talk to me but that won’t happen either. I just don’t want to suffer anymore and I believe you could definitely help me to survive. 🥺

I tried a ketamine treatment & my blood pressure kept increasing from being 170/ 102 up to 185 /115 & my Doctor stopped the treatment. I'm 70 & have multiple health issues. I have an autoimmune disease & I'm on Blood Pressure Medicine. Several things happened before , I didn't sleep because I use CBN (htc) & was told not to use the night before, on top of that I was terrified . I think contributed to my ^ BP . I was getting a very low dose, but I did get a taste of what the affects are. I have extreme pain & was hopeful it would help. He advised that if my BP was consistently normal for a month I could try again. I appreciate he was super cautious because of my health & age. What are your thoughts? Can BP be controlled directly during a session? He did give me a pill for BP before we started. I took my Bystolic 10 MG that morning as well. I'd love to complete my journey! TIA

Regarding valerian root, you need to ask your doctors. Typical recommendations include holding any supplements for 2 weeks before surgery. Regarding ketamine, there is great inertia in medicine, especially for therapies that do not fully conform to the Western biomedical model

Dr Kaveh, thank you, great video. I was wondering, can you explain if there are risks of addiction to ketamine or psychedelics even when used in professional clinics? Or are risks of addiction reduced or not possible when used properly in professional clinics under properly trained anesthesiologists? One of my degrees, is in health research, and have experience in working in health research. I’ve read some articles about ketamine, and psychedelics but I feel I’m not skilled enough to fully understand what I’m reading & with anxiety & increased anxiety from medical errors that have been made, I’m not sure I’m actually understanding what I reading because I’m in anxious states. I know you are super busy, and appreciate all you do, at some point is it possible to explain if there are addiction risks associated with ketamine and psychedelics in professional settings? Thank you.

Im a hypersensitive person, I cant use drugs like this because it is dangerous for me. I use analytical meditation that comes from Theravada Buddhism. It allows me to understand myself from a third person and because its a conscious meditative state, im aware the past is actually non existent. All this takes practice, but it is possible. Anyone who is truly Buddhist will understand the mental movement drugs create make us unable to observe our other forms of consciousness. We know this because the human body is naturally a silent area and external influences induced via "mental" actions cant be silent. Mental silence is possible. A good reflection of meditation is where you sit and you find yourself just allowing your eyes to just unfocus and observer your mind just pressensing how unique it is, for you to do this without thinking. Its scary for some but that is a "natural meditative state". We are naturally this way because the fight or flight mode activates based on high emotions making us repress everything once intense enough. Its an inconvenient instinct for modern times where we cant afford to Rest and naturally let go. But the mind still has this instinct to force mental clarity so to calculate what is best to get out of trouble. Fight or flight.... Meditation practice prevents fight or flight from being a thing as it surrounds removing the very emotions that make us hold biases and reactions that would not be good.

I am unwilling to talk to a doctor about the nature of my trauma, due to multiple experiences with their reactions. I won't say I've gone it alone, but professional efforts have mostly been counterproductive. Talking with other victims of the same type of trauma is much more helpful, because they know what it's like. So I expect Ketamine is out of the question. It's okay.

I have suffered with Anxiety and depression for a very long time. I've been on ssri's, tricyclic, Maoi's, i am currently taking diazepam. I have some psilocybin mushrooms and would like to try and make myself feel better with them but I have heard diazepam is a trip killer, stops it from working. How long would i have to not take the diazepam for the mushrooms to work? I am also on pregabalin for pain and dont know if that also blocks the psilocybin from working. I cant go more than a day without the diazepam at the moment. I want to be off all this unnatural medication.

Hi Dr. Kaveh! I would be interested in trying MDMA/ketamine for my depression, CPTSD and PTSD. However I am already taking 7,5mg ivabradine daily for Postural Tachycardia and 20mg paroxetine for depression/PTSD. Can trying MDMA or Ketamine be safe for me to try or is the risk of Serotonin Syndrome/Drug Interaction too high? I am asking because I already developed QT-prolongation after a drug interaction and almost died. I am generally feeling really great with paroxetine and some occasional weed and I don’t know if risking it would be worth it. Thank you if you answer! ❤
