It’s the opposite of what a lot of doulas say, but to induce labor I was advised to relax. I took a lot of baths and meditated visualizing my baby moving down. Movement can increase contractions but decrease dilation. Your body wants to feel safe, not stressed. A different approach but it worked for me!

Hi! All of these things are amazing to try but labour & birth is such a mental game!! Work through any feelings or thoughts that may be stressing you out or worrying you. & focus on relaxing. Also surrendering to the process & thinking of ways you can make your induction a positive experience. There are still so many things within your control in an induction & planning for that can help to ease your mind. I’m a doula & have seen many positive inductions! Good luck mama!!

I had 3 natural deliveries and with my 4th baby i had to be induced a week early and it all went badly they thought i was about to deliver even i thought i was but my son was struggling his heart rate dipped and i had to have an emergency c section his head hadn’t turned properly and the force of the contractions i has torn my womb and i was haemorrhaging and i lost 2 and 1/2 litres of blood luckily my son was born fine but i was very poorly if they didn’t of done an emergency c-section we could of both died. So i’m thankful for hospital for saving both our lives. Luckily i didn’t need a hysterectomy they managed to control the bleeding. I think that my body didn’t take to well being induced and it was making my contractions so strong my son didn’t turn in time in the birth canal and got stuck i can’t prove this was the case but looking back at my previous deliveries they went perfectly but being induced seemed to make things too quick. Hope everything goes well for you 💕

Good luck inducing labour, and with your labour and delivery!! 😊❤️ I had my girl February 21. I did alllll the natural at home inducing things and didn’t have her until 39 weeks + 6 days. Lol but, the last 2 weeks I walked around at 4 cm and 80% effaced, and when my water broke and got to the hospital I was already a 6! And felt no pain up to that point. 😅 she was born an hour later. So I definitely think it helped prep my body.

I was induced with my first baby (born a few days before Rocky) and my process started with cervidil. I was not dilated at all and I was about 50% effaced when that started. After 10 hours with the cervidil, I was at a 3 and 80% effaced. Then I got my pitocin started and my epidural. Once that started, (around 12pm) I delivered my daughter 6 hours later and only pushed for 20 mins. With my second, I had my bloody show around 10am and upon arrival to the labor and delivery triage was told I was at a 5 and 80% effaced (around 11-11:30am) and I delivered my son about 7 hours later and only pushed for 10 mins. Trusting your body and trusting your instincts with how you bring your baby girl into the world will make your experience so much better. ♥️💕 Can’t wait to see your birth vlog and how things go for you!

I was induced with a balloon on the 7th of august. It fell out overnight. Got to the hospital at 7. Waters broke at 9am (took two nurses and a doctor) and drugs started. Got the epidural at 8.30pm and bubs arrived at midnight. Omg. I was so exhausted by 5pm when I asked for the epidural. For the next baby I hope to go naturally. I was induced due to IVF and placenta cord insertion issue. Hope you go naturally!

I would stick with getting your membranes stripped a couple days before they need to induce you! It can take a couple days for the membrane sweep to actually get you into full blown labor! I had mine stripped and it did start labor for me, but I was induced still the next day due to pre eclampsia. I had barely progressed at all in the 18 hours in between the strip and being induced, but it was definitely the start of early labor for me!

My labor induction in The Netherlands. First time mom. July 2020. Arrived to the hospital at 7:45, cervix 2cm. Waters were broken by a nurse right a way. I got oxitocine infusion. Started at lowest flow, i think 1ml. Eventually ended with 4ml. I WAS WALKING ALL THIS TIME. Then contraction really hit me. Wanted epidural. Doc came. At 12 o clock and 4 hours from infusion has started, was too late. I was already fully dilated. Went through without epi. Pushing took almost 2 hours, i had no clue how to do it🙈 However, it can go fast and reasonably ok. With broken waters... At almost 14 i got my healthy son and at 18:00 was at home. In NL you leave the hospital after 1st pee. Fingers crossed all will go well for you. XX

I hope as you try some of these things throughout the week that they bring you closer to meeting baby. I know this might sound a little hippy dippy but I was reading Ina May's( a very famous midwives) book and she was talking about mind over matter so when you relax and when you imagine yourself "opening up" and "getting bigger" it helps you to do the same. I am due in August and hoping to use an imagery technique for opening up of a flower blooming there are many beautiful videos on KZbin of flowers opening up and I will use that during labour and maybe in the weeks leading up. My first labour was almost 24 hours and I also struggled to dilate. All the best girl!

This is the video I’ve been waiting for!! My induction with my August 2020 son led to a c-section and I’m hoping for a VBAC this time, but I’m scared that I won’t go into labor soon enough to try for a VBAC and end up with a repeat c-section which I REALLY do not want. Can’t wait to try some of these tips when I get closer to my second son’s delivery date in June! Can’t wait to “meet” your sweet girl!

Just wanted to reply and say that I had my first (a boy as well) in August 2016 which ended up being a c section. I also really, really wanted to avoid a repeat c-section and try for a VBAC with my second in 2018. I even switched OB's and delivered at a different hospital bc of it. Happy to say I ended up with a successful VBAC even with my daughter being 9.4lbs! Advocate for yourself. You can do it, your body was made for this!

I went into my induction a finger tip dilated and they put me on cervidil after 12 hours there was no progress even though I contracted all night long 3-5mins ( this was on a Monday ) they placed another cervidil and I had that throughout the day for a total of 10hrs. When they checked me I had progressed to 1cm and was contracting 2-3 minutes apart. Once they removed the second cervidil I was contracting on my own so my provider also broke my water and was hoping my body would take over.. we waited 4hrs and no progress still at 1cm. They started me on Pitocin at 1:30am Wednesday morning. I had to labor standing until 7:30 because my son was not tolerating the Pitocin and the only way his hr was controlled was with me standing. By 7am my contractions were 1min apart. Six hours of Pitocin I had only dilated to a 2 and finally 90% effaced. I ended up getting the epidural around 8:30am because I had been contracting since Monday night and it was now Wednesday morning. I woke up from a 2hr nap and was finally 7cm, and by 12pm I was able to push. The biggest thing on my birth plan was to have a vaginal delivery did I have this? Yes. But I will never again be induced unless need be and my provider recommeneds it. I totally related to you when you said " my body is good at contracting but not dilating or effacing " lollll. I hope you have a better experience this time around if she doesn't come on her own

🎈 Look into the foley balloons!! 🎈 I was induced at 35w for preeclampsia and I opted to start dilation with the foley balloons which worked really well! After they came out, we started pitocin, broke my waters and had our baby a few hours later. We had to stop the pitocin after they maxed it out as my baby’s heart rate kept dropping much like your story so I completely get the hesitation with the pitocin. I’m so excited for you and your family! I hope you have a great birthing experience.

hi friend!! if there is any way, I had an amazing induction and while every birth is different this is what worked for me- they started with CERVIDIL in my cervix until about 1030-11 (so about 2 hours of cervidil) and my water was broken by my ob at 5 cm I believe. my labor stalled after my epidural that was given at 1 or 2 pm (common to slow progression especially with an induction) and they started pitocin later maybe around 4 or 5 pm!

Hi Kilean !! Im sure that you've already seen the information about the midwives brew but maybe try that route! Loved this vlog Kilean, I will definitely be trying these with baby number 2 in June! I took castor oil to induce. Tbh I think it did help (I took it 3 times and with each time I dilated more) and the only thing I experienced was diarrhea. The biggest thing is dehydration so if you drink plenty of water you should be good. Also I only did it in half doses to lessen the effects. Butdefinitely talk to your doc and do what’s best for you!

Dates, RL tea and pineapple are NOT supposed to induce you or cause contractions! They are supposed to help with labor and birth ☺️ they are to help soften and ripen your cervix for easier dilation and a smoother delivery! You can start drinking two cups of RL tea as early as your second trimester! Hope this helps!

I’ve heard a lot of questionable things about the castor oil since it can make them go inside of you. Curious what your ob says. I deff would say the cervadile however it’s spelled should help a little it was just a longer process but I got that like three times and then they started Pitocin after. I will say it didn’t do a lot with contractions but I was also like only 35 weeks and 5 days.
