Absolute smashing little dogs. Oodles of personality. I met 'em at the Discover Dogs show having never heard of them. They should be better known than they are. I was completely bowled over by them 😍

I have a Dandie Dinmont Terrier (a Scottish breed) and can see a lot of similarities, great big eyes, big head, full size mouth and teeth, very brave... love people and very affectionate

Great and informative video! Being a Glen-Owner, myself, I can say that the description in is 100 % true in every sense, at least with our dog. Even down to the way they deal with toys: some are destroyed in an instance, others are kept like a treasure for a lifetime. Also it is very intelligent, loves to solve dog-puzzles (for food, of course) and is basically more interestd in people than in other dogs around. Very funny to see that this sems to be a typical behaviour for this breed.

Adopted a rescue which I subsequently found out does what I called “the Glen of Imaal sit.” She sits for long periods of time on her rear end. The vet thought she was a doxie, Jack Russell mix, but I think she must also be mixed with this terrier. Her personality is exactly as you describe, including choosing where we will walk and preferring people to dogs. Someone I know raises them. When I showed him a video of her doing the sit, he agreed she is mixed with that breed. Loved your video!

We did a little research and found out our dog is a Glen. Like the man said in the video they are a big dog in a small body. When they bark (which is rare) you would think it's from a much larger dog. They are very sweet and loyal. I love my Glen.

We got a terrier second hand. We didn’t know what type. People would always ask, but we had no answer. Recently a lady asked if our dog was a Glen of Imaal. We had never heard of the breed. Watching this video confirms to me, that’s what he is. Ours looks like the Wheaton one on your couch. All of your descriptions are spot on also. He’s a good dog. He likes adventures. We think he might have been mistreated early on. It took some time for him to settle in with us. But always very protective of my wife, to the point where he would attack me under certain circumstances. They are a small but robust dog. Independent minds. But loving. He definitely would kill some rabbits and squirrels given the chance.

I've finally figured out what breed our boy is. He was a rescue and no one knew what breed he is. He does have shorter hair with kind of wire hair. Brindle color and has every detail as these. We absolutely adore him with or without knowing his breed!

Wonderful video - so comprehensive. I hope all is well for you all 6 yrs later on Mr. Hardy. Do you know if there are breeders for this dog in Canada? Something tells me that there may not be, since they are so rare. Anyway, enjoyed seeing your lovely dogs!

I grew up with a white female Glenn. This breed has had such strong impact in my life. Great character and expression. Very responsive. I hope someday I have the means to grow into retirement with one

I have a rescue guy that I got from close to the glen of Imaal. I swear he’s this breed even though the rescue told me he was a Westie cross. He looks exactly like this apart from a pinker nose. His coat is white with a browner stripe down the centre of his back. He’s such a lovely guy and so affectionate & loyal. Hates the postman & anyone else who comes up the drive though! I’m mad about him. He’s such a fussy eater though!

Thanks for this, really helpful video to see them in their home environment. I’m thinking of getting a glen, and am trying to find out more about the breed to make sure we are the right kind of people for the dog. How are they with neighbourhood cats, and also with small children? Thanks :)

I intend to get a Glen on retirment. Finding rep breaders like your self a prob. I intend like you to expand the breed if the glen disapears it would be a massive loss. This is a comment 6 uears late but are you still breading today.
